@@beecj0 Yeah, same general sled and engine, but with 6 years of refinement. I like all the changes they have made over the years. This chassis still dominates in XC racing.
@@beecj0 Terrible, there is no competing with the fuel efficiency of the Etech for those super long endurance races. There were almost no teams this year running Cats.
Not gonna lie this sled defiantly sounds like it fits my ridding style. I am a aggressive trail rider that's always looking for the next jump to hit or trying skim over moguls. I like how they beefed the springs up for that!

Great review! I didn’t know anything about this model. I know from their XC race results it does really good. I often wonder why they get bashed on so bad about not coming out with a new chassis when this one is still competitive? I’ve bashed them too as I don’t like the direction Textron has taken them but thinking back, the original Polaris Indy ran from ‘80-‘98 on the same basic architecture but with many good and meaningful improvements throughout that time frame. The IQR came out in the fall of ‘04 and the ‘22 model isn’t that much different, it has been refined and improved over all those years. Perhaps Cat just needs new body work and ergo improvements and they’d increase sales? Some new engines would help as well.
These are great points and good for everyone to remember. We get caught up with seeing everyone else advance and as much as we want to see more "NEW" from Cat, you have to look at these sleds and remember they have great engines and ride and handle really good. Cat has an amazing engineering team so I feel like they must be working on something, but these sleds are still competitive.

Found my new sled!😍 we are a family of 4. 3 of 4 already go riding with us. We ride hard and fast! Kids love to play in the powder. Hopefully it can handle some extra curricular activities other than trail riding because we do a lot of both.
I'm sure it will handle off trail very well. I have a 19 RR which has an identical front and rear setup to this model (other than the spindle upgrade for height) and in 4 seasons I've only had it stuck 2 times in the deep and both were when I got hung up on a rock while climbing a steep hill. The track is shockingly good off trail in my type of snow and my rr will go anywhere that most 2.25 power claws can go unless they have extra length over me. The one really important note though is that this sled like mine will not be remotely "playful" off trail. They are extremely stable and flat. You will never sidehill it ever. They are not a crossover so dont expect that, but I've never been on any crossover that I'd rate at anything over a 8 out of 10 on the trail and this sled will be an 11 out of 10 trail and maybe 7 or so off trail.
You could play in the powder a bit sure. But its not a deep snow sled by any stretch of the imagination. The narrow power band would be problematic if you were trying to do anything precise in deep snow. Its really an on/off throttle type of sled.
Great review thanks. I sure thought Cat would have nipped the 850 market with a 900 2 stroke. With 2 manufacturers now with 850 turbos I sure hope they got one in the R & D.
Identical to my 2018 6000RXC. So good in the woods, despite having the "slide action" rear skid from 2007. If they fully redesigned the tunnel and modernized the electronics, it could be a world class sled.

The seat is like the old 90's sleds from the XCR and ZR limited builds when they went to the plastic tank that was not covered up by leather. Most edges used that tank style too.
This sled is 15,200 for a 600 they were 10,799 usd in 2020 for the same sled. It is not new they have had this model for years including last year other then the fact they canceled everyone’s order. interesting facts you left out are also it has the older front end spindles/arms because they handle better. Another thing it’s the only 129 arctic cat they brought it back because that’s what the racers prefer they were using old sleds for a few seasons until they brought back a 129 last year.
Good points, Cory. We remember when Cat's sleds were an absolute bargoon back then. Everyone was worried the value of their sleds was gonna drop. then COVID hit and it's the only time in history probably that you could sell a used sled for more than you bought it.
The RXC is and has been the best sled most couldn't buy in the Cat stable for a very long time @@snowtrax and seeing comments here and on Arctic Insider confirm that most people don't know doodly squat about cross country racing or how well this particular sled in the hands of Zach Herfindahl are still winning and dominating the competition. Is it for everyone? NO!!!! that would completely ruin it. I'd like to see Lynx bring their 600 Enduro over here, as would others sick of waiting for something new and exciting to come from Thief River Falls. Are you listening 'Arctic Cat'? If pricing is right, I may go back to one. Back to a simple trail bump weapon. After owing the 2019-2022 poo 850s with all the bells and whistles, I find myself asking if I need all that stuff. Is it nice, heck yea. Do I have more fun riding them as I did my 2018 RXC? Not really. I bottom the suspension all day long and find myself trying to get them to handle like my 18’ cat. More ski pressure and lessen the wheelies is a feat in itself. So why fight it, might as well go back! I will miss the 850 power but it’s really not necessary for the trails we ride.
@@Joeys990 I have Doo XRS' and they are pretty hard to bottom out on regular basis, but I would think XCR is similar. Have you tried a Lynx Rave? One thing I don't like about this Cat is the 7k-8k Powerband. That might be fun but hell on the engine
@@PartTimeYooper I have owned the same sled with the same engine. It’s a 600 so you have to ring its neck but it’s certainly not as drastic as he makes it sound to be. My last one had 4,800 miles and it ran like it did day one. That ctec 600 is a very reliable little engine.
This would handle way better. The Viper's front end was cleaned up a few seasons ago and handles really good now, but 2-stroke vs 4-stroke makes a fair difference in weight and comparing this vs your '14 Viper you'd notice a difference.

If we have to wait till next season to watch the test ride to find out if aggressive trail rides should be interested in it. But AC only sells by snowcheck right now, then what good is that information?
I know you guys want everything right now and ultimately that's what you should get and I understand your logic, but we've got two editors working their butts off to get new content from 4 manufacturers ready and online as fast as humanly possible with two deadlines for pre-orders looming. We're just understaffed at the moment. Also, Cat's 2023 pre-order program will begin April 19th, 2022 and run through to May 3rd so between now and then we may be able to give you more Cat content on this channel.

Constructive criticism here. Given availability issues with sleds for next season, it’s probably in the consumers best interest to hear as much detail as they can right now from folks like you who have the seat time on the latest and greatest. Most models are snow check only and would be way too late to make a buying decision by the upcoming season.
If one can not see or feel a product, the success of selling that product diminishes greatly. Buying a unseen or untested product is not how most people purchase. Additionally as the product price increase, the scrutiny of the product is significantly greater. Buying sight unseen is like Russian roulette, you won't be coming out the winner.
I have a 2020 ZR6000RXC and I love it except one thing, the Team primary clutch is giving me problems, I plan to change it for a different primary but I'm not sure which one just yet, I'm thinking of the new A-tac or aCV tech.
I watch Many @SnowTrax TV Videos to keep up on sleds in General. This basically is the only sled I am in the Market for as I would like to race some Cross Country races. I figure I can't get worse than 3rd place in my age group at age 61 as there would not be more than three guys in my age Group. There has been such a Rivalry between Cat and Polaris in Racing and Cross Country since one of the founding Brothers left Polaris to start Arctic Cat. One of snowmobiling’s true visionaries, Edgar Hetteen co-founded the Polaris snowmobile company in 1954 and later the Arctic Cat snowmobile company in 1959. A tireless promoter of the fun of snowmobiling, Edgar made spreading the word of this this winter sport his life’s work. All of the New Snowmobiles are great. In the Beginning they were so crude and ill-handing. Racing these sleds sorted the good from the bad in a hurry. Forced Rapid Innovations to stay Competative. Suspension. Slide Rails .. Oil Injection none of them had oil Injection before Yamaha Invented it and used it on their two stroke Motorcycles. Weight , Durability , Reliability ect. You can't go wrong with any brand now days, but when it comes to racing there still might be a difference.. I was close to ordering the Skidoo Cross Country Sled with Sno Check. I like Skidoo for the Direct Injection "Should be better Fuel Economy than other Brands" and also the 4 Roller Clutch .. Polaris has always had good handling durable sleds.. So there are three Choices, Polaris , Arctic Cat and Skidoo. It appears that Cat has mad some Improvements on their sled for 2023. This short Video did not even mention if this sled has electric start or not? I have not studied what Polaris offers .. I know their new 650 Sled will not be allowed .. 600 CC's is the mas allowed in Cross Country racing..class. Championship. Most all of the Polaris Racing riders drive the IQR 440, 600 or 700 Racer, depending on the class and the event. Polaris holds the most wins in the World's Longest Toughest Snowmobile Race, the Iron Dog a 2,000 miles race across Alaska Skidoo does have stronger suspension rails on their Cross Country sled. Looks to me like you could have an Arctic Cat , Polaris and Skidoo shoot out in this class??
Also when using a sled like this on the Trails, Say for example a Skidoo. How about the Shot System for starting and a small battery to keep all of you GPS , cell phone ect live while trail riding.. Skidoo is the only Brand I have looked in the Acessories Catalog.. with LinQ .. extra wide LED Auxiliary light ect.. It is cool that Skidoo does put wire harnesses on all sleds that already have plugs to add accessories later!
Luke-Great review on the sled. I have a SnoPro500 which is a fun sled to ride around and hit jumps but long rides can be a bit painful. This sled (the ZR6000) would be my second sled as I also own a ‘22 Thundercat for those long rides. My question would be do I go with this unit or the standard ZR6000? I have owned Arctic Cat sleds for many years and have been riding AC sleds for 42 of my my 42 years on earth. I have also ridden many other brands and have always come back to the conclusion that Arctic Cats have been my preference. This year as I waited on delivery of my ‘22 T-Cat I was fortunate enough to get some seat time on Polaris’ Switchback Assault 146 and SkiDoo Renegade X, both with their 850 motors. The power of both were good and definitely straighten your arms, but the handling never seemed as trustworthy as my ‘19 ZR8000. A sled which I owned for 3,500 miles and never had to do anything to it beside gas and oil. While all brands have their pluses and minuses, some have great marketing programs, while others don’t , I think that one important thing to note is: when a company has a product that works, it is not smart to change it. The AC chassis and engine setup work and work well. So why change them? As for the bells and whistles like the 7” touch screen on the Polaris, I don’t disagree. It is great to have the gps map on in front of you at all times, but truly do I need all the other gadgetry? No. I want to know a few things when I ride: speed, time, coolant temp. The rest of the information is useless to me so who cares if I get a text, or a phone call is coming in while I’m riding? When we ride we should be leaving all that behind and enjoy the trail riding experience. Not worrying about the phone. This is my one time to get away from it so for me it gets wrapped up and stored in the sled so I don’t think about it. At the end of the day I appreciate your efforts in bringing us true objective reviews on products within the snowmobile industry. Thank you! Chaz
Great points and you're absolutely correct! Personal preference is paramount when buying a sled. You're the one who is gonna ride it so don't listen to the haters and just get what you like best!
This sled would be great at just riding around and hitting jumps. The only real downside to it that I found was the super narrow power band. Other than that, its like an even more aggressive RR, which they no longer offer. The handling is better than previous 6000s and even their current standard 6000... Id like to see them go with this suspension design, though softer, for their standard 6000's next season.
No, it doesnt. Its very hard to comment on ride quality because its setup SO stiff. Id love to try it setup softer to see how it compares to a regular slide action skid (this is slide action also). The Slide action skidframe works great. But its not a Pro CC or R-Motion.

IMO the best part of SnowTrax videos are the deep dives for the enthusiast who want the little details. I wish the consumers had the ability to easily access the information the media receives. Keep up the "Detailed Overview" series definitely beneficial for all parties involved (consumer, manufacturer and SnowTrax).

I see more cats riding than i do any other brand and i live at the beginning of a trail head so i get to see every sled passing by coming and going to get gas. Msrp is still cheaper than most of polaris and ski doo sleds....dont need all the bells and whistles to have fun on the trails.

because they got it right the first time. can't update the front suspension when it is the best on snow. its a simple a arm suspension. they changed it in 2020 so you guys can have something "new." yet, went in reverse.
My understanding is the Cat race dept said the old spindle and 129 track is better than the new spindle and the 137 for racing purposes, I've ridden both and I fully understand!

I almost bought the Cat Version of this 2 years ago on sale at the end of the Season. Normally Sno Check Only. Some one Sno Checked it then they did not take it. Back then it was available in 129" and in 137" No Battery and No Electric start I think that saves 40 Pounds. the Literature said ..

Good question. Id have to verify that. But the info should be up on their website now. Im %99 sure it does use the new clutch. And yes, its a good jumper. The shots in this video of me running bumps look pretty tame. But those bumps were nearly 20 inches deep and HARD as a rock. I was running them at 50mph or so. To say I was impressed would be an understatement
Except for the seat, it's a sort of "Déjà vu" in 2012. Weird to be far from the beast of snow cross with its improved front suspension and its long spindles. Going backwards....
These do corner better than I can get my XRS comp to in almost all snow conditions after a full season of ride tuning but in the multi foot whoops the comp really stands alone, its unreal! I miss how well these corner, comp needs to go back to 129" I feel like. IDK how the Polaris is as wouldn't sell me one without getting back into XC racing or going through a bunch of effort. I would have bought that to get a 129". My motor did let get after 3.5k on the comp and is getting a shortblock. Most the stuff I broke on the cats was "racing incidents" no mechanicals but just got raced and had less but harder miles on. Stuff happens, maybe they will do a video, "next season"?
Partially. But its mostly an engine tuning situation. In cross country racing your either full throttle, or on the brakes. No need for low end. This is tuned to perform EXACTLY like that.
I had an Arctic cat race sled in the late 90's. It had such a tiny gas tank that they sold under hood add on gas tanks to be able to give you a normal amount of fuel. I didn't have that add-on and could never pass a gas station no matter the fuel level. Does this sled also have a tiny gas tank?

It is a good question worth exploring. I remember when it was considered a bandaid solution to bad handling but now most sleds handle pretty good. Be interested to hear what the rest of you think...

Good question - I’m in Sudbury and ppl ride like that all the time. Never see a small kid on the back, always in front. I did the same. Never had an issue but also never went through a ride check either.
If its not, no one cares, including the Police. People have been riding with kids in front for 50 years. I have NEVER... not ONCE heard of anyone getting hassled about it. Heck, my dad, Mark, strapped me into a laundry basket between his legs on his old Indy 650 back in the day. I think I was a year old. Lol.

I personally dont think it would be any good off trail. Its not a 121. The extremely narrow power band would be VERY hard to manage in deep snow when you need precise throttle control.
@@katiemilanowski7606 I need a band aid. But not at the finish line when my 2013 1100 xf is going by sidewinders like they threw out the anchor at 525 ft in our 600 drive race. My skis are still in the air at the 600 ft mark running 35lbs on the stock turbo. Let me see the stock Yamaha turbo go 30+ lbs and live. Yes it’s still a procross . It was the best on snow. Us cat guys are praying. I made my chassis better myself. I leave out the kids that make my xf ride like it’s 8 yrs newer by another brand
They look like a 2013 and up cat procross. Because it is . I have one . 2013 1100 turbo 320 hp kit 2 step, launch control. 3” turbo out exhaust. 141 to 151” track stretch. 8 tooth to 10 tooth drivers. Hyvo gears. The list goes on. My old twin goes by the triple sidewinders at the finish line like they dropped the anchory/ I’m a dye hard cat guy and we do need a new chassis
I guess this means that there is nothing new for AC in 2023... such a bummer. Polaris has come out with more motor options in the past 3 years than AC has since 2012 (even if you include the Yamaha motors), not to mention the chassis and skid changes poo has made too. Management needs to let the AC engineers get creative... things have been stale there for a while.
I think it's a bit funny how many people cry about cat not coming out with something mind blowing. My hunch is a lot of these are "other" brand riders hoping Cat gives them the excuse they are hoping to give their buddies to switch like they want to in their heart 😂 Every year everybody does an OEM comparison and Cat consistently is #1 or 2 in a lot of categories. Maybe they get 2 or 3 overall but it's a very consistent brand and scores well overall. It says a lot that they haven't done much and the other OEMs are still only treading water or even behind after all these years. Could Cat update the cluster/electronics, maybe. It does look like a 900 turbo crossover is coming. But if you're telling me an Ipad on your dash or 5 hp (offset by the extra weight of 50cc) is the reason you don't ride Cat then I'd make a call that the passion for snowmobiling that comes with being a Cat rider doesn't run Green in your veins.
@@coryroot I urge you to grab some additional perspective by jumping on anything pre-2012 from any brand and then go between a 2022 Cat and a 2022 Polaris or Ski Doo. It's not that wide a gap with tech where it is. Nobody's done anything monumental for a long time. When we're talking things like 2 to 3% weight improvements, a literal couple of horsepower, less than 5 degree rider angle difference. We're nit picking stuff an average rider isn't going to care about. Cat comes in reasonably priced in comparison (Everything is relative nowadays) And I've heard good things about the Blast line up even though it's just a single cylinder 400. Even more cost effective for an entry rider. Am I saying Cat has done the most? Nah, but they're not light years behind either.
@@coaa0801 my riding buddy has a 22 cat and I have rode it, it feels like a vintage sled seating position. Cats cost the same and you get less. No 850, still falling rate rear end. They are way behind but brand loyalist cat people refuse to admit it. A ZR blast is almost $10,000. I wouldn’t call that economical.

But here you are on a Cat sled review hoping they'll give you a reason. Or you just want to troll which is OK I suppose. There's always some banter that goes with brand loyalty. Every brand rides differently and takes time getting used to. I've ridden my buddies 2021 RMK and liked very little about how it handled. Setup and rider position didn't fit my rider style. Didn't like it wouldn't recommend. MSRP on a Blast ZR is 8095. Discounted more if Sno-checked so not sure where that number is coming from. Facts on God no kizzy. When everything from every manufacturer is 13k+, 7-8k is pretty damn economical. Remember I said relative to everything else.
I have Cat's orig '14 6000and it DOES run strong to this day. However, was really hoping for a updated version as it's behind the competition IMO. I firmly believe tho that both of Cat's C-tec2 engine's did force Doo & Poo to come out w/ 650's & 850's. Again, IMO, Cat NEEDS to update their susp & engines and come back 2 up sleds and more trail friendly sleds in the 500 & 600 class. Seems tho that the new "600" class is the 800 class. Just sayin.
Snowtrax is acting like this is a brand new sled. Is the engine calibration any different than the 2018 version? I thought the 18 was fine for trail riding. And maybe having that hit around 7000 RPM makes the engine feel larger/faster.
have you ridden it? Its NOT a standard 6000 engine. Its completely retuned and, if you dont think the power is strange, youve clearly not ridden any other competitive 600's.

But the model IS new in their consumer sled lineup. This is NOT like any other 6000 series engine thats been available to consumers. Nor is the chassis/suspension spec.

I'm sure it will handle off trail very well. I have a 19 RR which has an identical front and rear setup to this model (other than the spindle upgrade for height) and in 4 seasons I've only had it stuck 2 times in the deep and both were when I got hung up on a rock while climbing a steep hill. The track is shockingly good off trail in my type of snow and my rr will go anywhere that most 2.25 power claws can go unless they have extra length over me. The one really important note though is that this sled like mine will not be remotely "playful" off trail. They are extremely stable and flat. You will never sidehill it ever. They are not a crossover so dont expect that, but I've never been on any crossover that I'd rate at anything over a 8 out of 10 on the trail and this sled will be an 11 out of 10 trail and maybe 7 or so off trail.
You could play in the powder a bit sure. But its not a deep snow sled by any stretch of the imagination. The narrow power band would be problematic if you were trying to do anything precise in deep snow. Its really an on/off throttle type of sled.

Identical to my 2018 6000RXC. So good in the woods, despite having the "slide action" rear skid from 2007.
If they fully redesigned the tunnel and modernized the electronics, it could be a world class sled.
This new one does have the "updated" left hand controls. And maybe a different primary clutch? Snowtrax didn't get into the details very well.

The seat is like the old 90's sleds from the XCR and ZR limited builds when they went to the plastic tank that was not covered up by leather.
Most edges used that tank style too.
Btw do you hook the foot in stirup and then get down low or hang the foot way out like the old days.

This sled is 15,200 for a 600 they were 10,799 usd in 2020 for the same sled.
It is not new they have had this model for years including last year other then the fact they canceled everyone’s order. interesting facts you left out are also it has the older front end spindles/arms because they handle better. Another thing it’s the only 129 arctic cat they brought it back because that’s what the racers prefer they were using old sleds for a few seasons until they brought back a 129 last year.
Good points, Cory. We remember when Cat's sleds were an absolute bargoon back then. Everyone was worried the value of their sleds was gonna drop. then COVID hit and it's the only time in history probably that you could sell a used sled for more than you bought it.
The RXC is and has been the best sled most couldn't buy in the Cat stable for a very long time @@snowtrax and seeing comments here and on Arctic Insider confirm that most people don't know doodly squat about cross country racing or how well this particular sled in the hands of Zach Herfindahl are still winning and dominating the competition. Is it for everyone? NO!!!! that would completely ruin it. I'd like to see Lynx bring their 600 Enduro over here, as would others sick of waiting for something new and exciting to come from Thief River Falls.

If pricing is right, I may go back to one. Back to a simple trail bump weapon. After owing the 2019-2022 poo 850s with all the bells and whistles, I find myself asking if I need all that stuff. Is it nice, heck yea. Do I have more fun riding them as I did my 2018 RXC? Not really. I bottom the suspension all day long and find myself trying to get them to handle like my 18’ cat. More ski pressure and lessen the wheelies is a feat in itself. So why fight it, might as well go back! I will miss the 850 power but it’s really not necessary for the trails we ride.

@@PartTimeYooper I have owned the same sled with the same engine. It’s a 600 so you have to ring its neck but it’s certainly not as drastic as he makes it sound to be. My last one had 4,800 miles and it ran like it did day one. That ctec 600 is a very reliable little engine.

This would handle way better. The Viper's front end was cleaned up a few seasons ago and handles really good now, but 2-stroke vs 4-stroke makes a fair difference in weight and comparing this vs your '14 Viper you'd notice a difference.

If we have to wait till next season to watch the test ride to find out if aggressive trail rides should be interested in it. But AC only sells by snowcheck right now, then what good is that information?
I know you guys want everything right now and ultimately that's what you should get and I understand your logic, but we've got two editors working their butts off to get new content from 4 manufacturers ready and online as fast as humanly possible with two deadlines for pre-orders looming. We're just understaffed at the moment. Also, Cat's 2023 pre-order program will begin April 19th, 2022 and run through to May 3rd so between now and then we may be able to give you more Cat content on this channel.

Constructive criticism here. Given availability issues with sleds for next season, it’s probably in the consumers best interest to hear as much detail as they can right now from folks like you who have the seat time on the latest and greatest. Most models are snow check only and would be way too late to make a buying decision by the upcoming season.
If one can not see or feel a product, the success of selling that product diminishes greatly. Buying a unseen or untested product is not how most people purchase. Additionally as the product price increase, the scrutiny of the product is significantly greater. Buying sight unseen is like Russian roulette, you won't be coming out the winner.

I watch Many @SnowTrax TV Videos to keep up on sleds in General. This basically is the only sled I am in the Market for as I would like to race some Cross Country races. I figure I can't get worse than 3rd place in my age group at age 61 as there would not be more than three guys in my age Group.

Suspension. Slide Rails .. Oil Injection none of them had oil Injection before Yamaha Invented it and used it on their two stroke Motorcycles. Weight , Durability , Reliability ect.
You can't go wrong with any brand now days, but when it comes to racing there still might be a difference..
I was close to ordering the Skidoo Cross Country Sled with Sno Check. I like Skidoo for the Direct Injection "Should be better Fuel Economy than other Brands" and also the 4 Roller Clutch ..
Polaris has always had good handling durable sleds.. So there are three Choices, Polaris , Arctic Cat and Skidoo. It appears that Cat has mad some Improvements on their sled for 2023.

I have not studied what Polaris offers .. I know their new 650 Sled will not be allowed .. 600 CC's is the mas allowed in Cross Country racing..class.

Skidoo does have stronger suspension rails on their Cross Country sled.

Also when using a sled like this on the Trails, Say for example a Skidoo. How about the Shot System for starting and a small battery to keep all of you GPS , cell phone ect live while trail riding..
Skidoo is the only Brand I have looked in the Acessories Catalog.. with LinQ .. extra wide LED Auxiliary light ect.. It is cool that Skidoo does put wire harnesses on all sleds that already have plugs to add accessories later!

Luke-Great review on the sled. I have a SnoPro500 which is a fun sled to ride around and hit jumps but long rides can be a bit painful. This sled (the ZR6000) would be my second sled as I also own a ‘22 Thundercat for those long rides. My question would be do I go with this unit or the standard ZR6000?
I have owned Arctic Cat sleds for many years and have been riding AC sleds for 42 of my my 42 years on earth. I have also ridden many other brands and have always come back to the conclusion that Arctic Cats have been my preference. This year as I waited on delivery of my ‘22 T-Cat I was fortunate enough to get some seat time on Polaris’ Switchback Assault 146 and SkiDoo Renegade X, both with their 850 motors. The power of both were good and definitely straighten your arms, but the handling never seemed as trustworthy as my ‘19 ZR8000. A sled which I owned for 3,500 miles and never had to do anything to it beside gas and oil. While all brands have their pluses and minuses, some have great marketing programs, while others don’t , I think that one important thing to note is: when a company has a product that works, it is not smart to change it. The AC chassis and engine setup work and work well. So why change them? As for the bells and whistles like the 7” touch screen on the Polaris, I don’t disagree. It is great to have the gps map on in front of you at all times, but truly do I need all the other gadgetry? No. I want to know a few things when I ride: speed, time, coolant temp. The rest of the information is useless to me so who cares if I get a text, or a phone call is coming in while I’m riding? When we ride we should be leaving all that behind and enjoy the trail riding experience. Not worrying about the phone. This is my one time to get away from it so for me it gets wrapped up and stored in the sled so I don’t think about it.

Great points and you're absolutely correct! Personal preference is paramount when buying a sled. You're the one who is gonna ride it so don't listen to the haters and just get what you like best!
This sled would be great at just riding around and hitting jumps. The only real downside to it that I found was the super narrow power band. Other than that, its like an even more aggressive RR, which they no longer offer. The handling is better than previous 6000s and even their current standard 6000... Id like to see them go with this suspension design, though softer, for their standard 6000's next season.

No, it doesnt. Its very hard to comment on ride quality because its setup SO stiff. Id love to try it setup softer to see how it compares to a regular slide action skid (this is slide action also). The Slide action skidframe works great. But its not a Pro CC or R-Motion.

IMO the best part of SnowTrax videos are the deep dives for the enthusiast who want the little details. I wish the consumers had the ability to easily access the information the media receives. Keep up the "Detailed Overview" series definitely beneficial for all parties involved (consumer, manufacturer and SnowTrax).

I see more cats riding than i do any other brand and i live at the beginning of a trail head so i get to see every sled passing by coming and going to get gas. Msrp is still cheaper than most of polaris and ski doo sleds....dont need all the bells and whistles to have fun on the trails.

Why the old pre 2020 spindles?
because they got it right the first time. can't update the front suspension when it is the best on snow. its a simple a arm suspension. they changed it in 2020 so you guys can have something "new." yet, went in reverse.
My understanding is the Cat race dept said the old spindle and 129 track is better than the new spindle and the 137 for racing purposes, I've ridden both and I fully understand!
The old spindles look more robust to me. Maybe that’s why it’s on this sled as they can take the abuse better

I almost bought the Cat Version of this 2 years ago on sale at the end of the Season. Normally Sno Check Only. Some one Sno Checked it then they did not take it.

Honestly, it handles really well. Better than a standard ZR6000. I didnt really find any drawbacks to it so I certainly hope so.

Good question. Id have to verify that. But the info should be up on their website now. Im %99 sure it does use the new clutch. And yes, its a good jumper. The shots in this video of me running bumps look pretty tame. But those bumps were nearly 20 inches deep and HARD as a rock. I was running them at 50mph or so. To say I was impressed would be an understatement

These do corner better than I can get my XRS comp to in almost all snow conditions after a full season of ride tuning but in the multi foot whoops the comp really stands alone, its unreal! I miss how well these corner, comp needs to go back to 129" I feel like. IDK how the Polaris is as wouldn't sell me one without getting back into XC racing or going through a bunch of effort. I would have bought that to get a 129". My motor did let get after 3.5k on the comp and is getting a shortblock. Most the stuff I broke on the cats was "racing incidents" no mechanicals but just got raced and had less but harder miles on. Stuff happens, maybe they will do a video, "next season"?
Polaris trail line up has had 41.5"-43.5" ski stance for years. Nothing new there.
No Polaris sled has ever come from the factory with a 43 inch ski stance. Adjustable yes, but not setup that way.
Bushings are on the outside when the sled comes out of the crate. That gives you the widest stance. 43.5" from factory.
So regarding the power band, is that due to the clutching? I have heard that the clutching is different than the 6000 RR and ZR.
Partially. But its mostly an engine tuning situation. In cross country racing your either full throttle, or on the brakes. No need for low end. This is tuned to perform EXACTLY like that.

Is there 128 inch track for 2023 zr 6000 r-xc?
I had an Arctic cat race sled in the late 90's. It had such a tiny gas tank that they sold under hood add on gas tanks to be able to give you a normal amount of fuel. I didn't have that add-on and could never pass a gas station no matter the fuel level. Does this sled also have a tiny gas tank?

It is a good question worth exploring. I remember when it was considered a bandaid solution to bad handling but now most sleds handle pretty good. Be interested to hear what the rest of you think...

Good question - I’m in Sudbury and ppl ride like that all the time. Never see a small kid on the back, always in front. I did the same. Never had an issue but also never went through a ride check either.
If its not, no one cares, including the Police. People have been riding with kids in front for 50 years. I have NEVER... not ONCE heard of anyone getting hassled about it. Heck, my dad, Mark, strapped me into a laundry basket between his legs on his old Indy 650 back in the day. I think I was a year old. Lol.

I personally dont think it would be any good off trail. Its not a 121. The extremely narrow power band would be VERY hard to manage in deep snow when you need precise throttle control.

My skis are still in the air at the 600 ft mark running 35lbs on the stock turbo. Let me see the stock Yamaha turbo go 30+ lbs and live. Yes it’s still a procross . It was the best on snow. Us cat guys are praying. I made my chassis better myself. I leave out the kids that make my xf ride like it’s 8 yrs newer by another brand

They look like a 2013 and up cat procross. Because it is . I have one . 2013 1100 turbo 320 hp kit 2 step, launch control. 3” turbo out exhaust. 141 to 151” track stretch. 8 tooth to 10 tooth drivers. Hyvo gears. The list goes on. My old twin goes by the triple sidewinders at the finish line like they dropped the anchory/ I’m a dye hard cat guy and we do need a new chassis

You do NOT want this engine in a mountain sled. It would be brutal trying to manage the power when your in the deep snow.

I guess this means that there is nothing new for AC in 2023... such a bummer. Polaris has come out with more motor options in the past 3 years than AC has since 2012 (even if you include the Yamaha motors), not to mention the chassis and skid changes poo has made too. Management needs to let the AC engineers get creative... things have been stale there for a while.

I think it's a bit funny how many people cry about cat not coming out with something mind blowing. My hunch is a lot of these are "other" brand riders hoping Cat gives them the excuse they are hoping to give their buddies to switch like they want to in their heart 😂 Every year everybody does an OEM comparison and Cat consistently is #1 or 2 in a lot of categories. Maybe they get 2 or 3 overall but it's a very consistent brand and scores well overall. It says a lot that they haven't done much and the other OEMs are still only treading water or even behind after all these years. Could Cat update the cluster/electronics, maybe. It does look like a 900 turbo crossover is coming. But if you're telling me an Ipad on your dash or 5 hp (offset by the extra weight of 50cc) is the reason you don't ride Cat then I'd make a call that the passion for snowmobiling that comes with being a Cat rider doesn't run Green in your veins.
I admire die-hard cat riders. Their passion is impressive.
If you ride another brand then get on a arctic cat they feel outdated all around not just the dash it’s the whole riding position
@@coryroot I urge you to grab some additional perspective by jumping on anything pre-2012 from any brand and then go between a 2022 Cat and a 2022 Polaris or Ski Doo. It's not that wide a gap with tech where it is. Nobody's done anything monumental for a long time. When we're talking things like 2 to 3% weight improvements, a literal couple of horsepower, less than 5 degree rider angle difference. We're nit picking stuff an average rider isn't going to care about. Cat comes in reasonably priced in comparison (Everything is relative nowadays) And I've heard good things about the Blast line up even though it's just a single cylinder 400. Even more cost effective for an entry rider. Am I saying Cat has done the most? Nah, but they're not light years behind either.
@@coaa0801 my riding buddy has a 22 cat and I have rode it, it feels like a vintage sled seating position. Cats cost the same and you get less. No 850, still falling rate rear end. They are way behind but brand loyalist cat people refuse to admit it. A ZR blast is almost $10,000. I wouldn’t call that economical.

But here you are on a Cat sled review hoping they'll give you a reason. Or you just want to troll which is OK I suppose. There's always some banter that goes with brand loyalty. Every brand rides differently and takes time getting used to. I've ridden my buddies 2021 RMK and liked very little about how it handled. Setup and rider position didn't fit my rider style. Didn't like it wouldn't recommend.
MSRP on a Blast ZR is 8095. Discounted more if Sno-checked so not sure where that number is coming from.
Facts on God no kizzy. When everything from every manufacturer is 13k+, 7-8k is pretty damn economical. Remember I said relative to everything else.

I have Cat's orig '14 6000and it DOES run strong to this day. However, was really hoping for a updated version as it's behind the competition IMO. I firmly believe tho that both of Cat's C-tec2 engine's did force Doo & Poo to come out w/ 650's & 850's. Again, IMO, Cat NEEDS to update their susp & engines and come back 2 up sleds and more trail friendly sleds in the 500 & 600 class. Seems tho that the new "600" class is the 800 class. Just sayin.
Snowtrax is acting like this is a brand new sled. Is the engine calibration any different than the 2018 version? I thought the 18 was fine for trail riding. And maybe having that hit around 7000 RPM makes the engine feel larger/faster.
have you ridden it? Its NOT a standard 6000 engine. Its completely retuned and, if you dont think the power is strange, youve clearly not ridden any other competitive 600's.
@@katiemilanowski7606 I cant commment on that because arctic cat did NOT sell their factory cross country race sled to consumers in 2018. Im fully aware that the bones of this sled arent new. But the model IS new in their consumer sled lineup. This is NOT like any other 6000 series engine thats been available to consumers. Nor is the chassis/suspension spec.
