- This video is about Chuck Kraft's Fly Tying DVD Volume I and it shows a sample from the DVD on how to tie the Kreelex. This is one of Chuck's best flies he ever developed and is deadly on Freshwater and Saltwater species. Since 1996 this fly has literally caught almost every fish you could think of from Smallmouth to Dorado, to Trout to Musky. It has won fishing tournaments and was outlawed in certain fly fishing tournaments for being too effective. Simple to tie and if we had only one fly to fish for anything it would be the Kreelex.

Teaching my 11 year old nephew this fly today. Chuck’s video is the only way to do it for me. Respect the GOATs and our classics! ❤
R.i.p. Chuck. That is great fly and catches a lot of fish.
Simple, effective streamer.
This was the first fly I tied AND caught a fish on. Caught a pike in the local stream.
Amazing accent...The type I try to mimic for a few days after hearing. Amazing fly too by the way....In fac....I's 'bout ta pinch a hook in a vice right now's n' tie me one!!!
nice
Trying to make it smaller. So just cut the wings a little pass the hook? On a smaller hook, it’s harder to tie with the fibers going back. Can’t I just reverse ties the wings then fold it over and tie it down again?
The tail is the same length as the hook. Wings go just past the bend. No need to fold flash. It just adds unnecessary bulk to the head of the Fly. I tie these as small as a #10.
easterntrophies oh wow that was a fast response. Thanks. I tied 1 on a size 6 and fish gobble it like crazy. However, it looks a bit scraggly. Some fibers don’t go straight back but flair out. I couldn’t tell if I was how I locked the fibers down or do you guys trim the strays. Either way, Great fly! I’m about to tie a bunch more up
Nvm. Just tied one using the hook shank length. Looks cherry now . I got it down. Thanks for the great video.
When you tie in each bunch a Kreinik, sift and pull out the shorter fibers. This will eliminate any stragglers. Chuck Kraft calls em "shorties".
I articulate mine
I caught a pike off of this fly
+mountaineer08 The list is long of species caught with this pattern. Glad to hear it!!!!
