This is illuminating. The color shift over time is dramatic. One can't help wondering about so many other paintings we've interpreted based on significantly altered or shifted colors.

Cool! But why just the background? Didn't the paint in the woman lose its original color as well?

Attempting a master copy of the Blond Bather for a friend’s wife and had to special order extra fine carmine. Never used that color before. Looking forward to telling her about the “ bugs”.
