  • Historically, synthesizer arpeggiators take chord input and arpeggiate the notes in a handful of different ways. MODX+ (including MODX, MONTAGE as well as MOTIF and MOXF) Arpeggios go far beyond this traditional function. Yamaha Arpeggios generate chords, send controller data, create realistic guitar strums, bass lines, keyboard comping and more. With over 10,000 Preset Arpeggios to choose from, you can use them to add drum grooves, create rhythmic chord patterns and quickly record a complete multitrack section.
This Tech Talk is the start of a three-part Arpeggio series. Part one covers finding, using and customizing Preset Arpeggios. Part two explores recording Arpeggios internally and externally and part three focuses on creating User Arpeggios.

Thank you to all of you, I learned a lot. And it's good to refresh our memory of the stuff already learned.

Love the Arps on the MODX, Would be nice to have some UI improvements though.
    1. Need a copy and paste arps to other parts function. Maybe it exists but I have not found it, so if it does please talk about in next video.
    2. This may be harder to add but would be nice to be able to have different ARP numbers for parts set to scenes. For example scene 1, part 1 plays arp #1, part 2 plays arp #3m etc, Right now all parts will play the same arp number for each scene so I often find myself needing to reorganize all the arps when having multiple parts
Thanks for the video, looking forward to the next one. Joel seemed rushed in this one, would love to see a longer video of him going over minor details of the ARPs, I learned things I didn't know existed even in his brief time.

On a S90XS, with 6,779 arp types, how does one navigate and find a simple straight eights ascending descending? My google skills have been fruitless. Thank you

Thank you for all you valuable information. Why does the bass sometimes go out of sync with the drums when I play the arps in a performance?

Excellent stuff from Manuele! Are the new sounds on the MODX+ available to instal on the old MODX?

Hello, I need help with the following question in Montage: I created a user arpeggio in the range of 2 octaves, with the sequence C3-E3-G3-C4-G4-C4-G3-E3. But what I want is that, when assigning this arp in a performance, the sequence is triggered when I play only the chord (C-E-G), like what we do on arranger keyboards. For me it's not working, because the sequence only sounds correctly if I play exactly all 8 notes that make up the sequence, in the range of octaves. If I play the chord in its triad, only the three notes played sound, repeating the last one until completing the number of notes recorded in the arpeggiator. Is there any way to resolve this?

Modx+ doesn’t show the chords what we play ? Like PSR keyboard?

I want to assign the bottom E of my MODX7 to play a user arp/phrase I’ve recorded as a ‘fixed’ arp, so it plays the arp no matter what the note selected. However when i set the keyboard range to just that note on the main performance page it will not play. I have to set the keyboard range much wider and then it plays.
I have also tried also adjusting the note limits in the arp section to include the notes played, so no notes are missed. But still it won’t work. Any ideas?

Put track to arpeggio , In the track recorder , select the song name , and select user arp , a menu appears select the arp track for Org Notes , maybe that helps.
