That because at one point 261 actually had a hancock 3 chime, but has since been replaced with a different whistle
Speaking of 3 chimes, at least 261 still has the original 3 chime from the 90s (not talking about the Hancock 3 chime, but still) just to point that out.
@@T128Productions because Steve Sandberg likes Milwaukee Road and heritage, the crew just prefers the ATSF 5 (so do I, it's amazing and fits 261 so well)
I don’t remember 261 with a 5 chime. I thought it was a 6 chime.
@@T128Productions the current whistle (what it's had since 1998) is off of AT&SF 2900 class 4-8-4 #2905. The 2900 class's had 5 chimes that had identical castings to the 6 chimes. This can also be heard as 261 blows one less chime as a Santa Fe 6 (3751 for example). For clarification, 261 has worn 3 whistles.
1. Milwaukee Road 3 chime (still on it today as a secondary)
2. Lehigh and New England 3 chime (Steamtown Winter)
3. Atchison Topeka & Santa Fe Longbell 5 chime (primary whistle since 1998)

That’s true. But for this video, I didn’t use #1522’s whistle, the audio was recorded from #261 when it visited Steamtown in Scranton PA. I guess you could say that it might just be a coincidence that both whistles almost sound identical to one another, even though they’re from different railroads.
@@T128Productions well, both the whistles are Longbell 3 chimes. 1522's being an authentic Frisco Hancock 3 chime and 261's being a Lehigh and New England 3 chime.
