MrDIRECTOREIGHT's Universal Television Logo History (including Revue Studios, MCA TV & more!)

- Hello everyone! This is a little bit of a different video, I don't normally make videos like this, but I've been working on this project for months (since my birthday in 2020 to be exact). I decided to make my own logo history video on Universal Television (and its several divisions and name changes proceeding the current incarnation) because I felt like many of the other videos on CZcams were either outdated or had fake logos randomly thrown in there, which irritated me a little bit. My main goal was to make the most accurate and high quality logo history video of Universal Television that you can get (also keep in mind that some of these variants were really hard to find, so not every logo capture is going to have the best quality.)
I took a little bit of a different approach for this logo history video because I decided to separate it into seven sections. I included Revue Studios (which is Section 1) since it was the predecessor to Universal Television. I also decided to include MCA TV and MTE (MCA Television Entertainment) since Universal Television and MTE were divisions of MCA TV before MCA was reincorporated as Universal Studios in 1996. If MTE's full name confuses you, I'm here to clarify that they were a production company that helped produced independent TV shows and TV movies, whereas MCA TV was exclusively just a distribution company for certain programs. I also included NBC Universal Television Studio and Universal Media Studios, since those were the predecessors of what became the current Universal Television. The reason why I only decided to cover NBC Universal Television Studio (NBCUniversal Television's short-lived production division, which ended up being renamed to Universal Media Studios in 2007) rather than just NBCUniversal Television as a whole is because if I also covered NBCUniversal Television Distribution or NBCUniversal Syndication Studios (which are basically the same thing), we would be here all day.
A couple other things that I want to point out: I got a lot of my information from the CLG Wiki, and on their page about Universal Television, it's actually split up into two different sections, Universal Studios and Universal Television, which indicates that at some point Universal's television division changed its name, which actually never made sense to me since I've always just considered the company as Universal Television. There are two logos in the Universal Studios section of the article, the 2nd logo (which says it was used from February 1964-1969) and the 4th logo (which says it was used from September 1970-April 1971). From the pictures that they used for those logos, they look very similar to me (if not the exact same), and because of this, I decided to just put them together as one logo, which is why the date for Logo #2 says (1964-1971) instead of (1964-1969). Also, in regards to the final logo in the video (the current Universal Television logo that's been in use since 2011), I included an unused prototype variant that says "Universal NBC Television", which a lot of you guys will probably say is fake; honestly, I feel like it looks pretty legit. Maybe at some point they were thinking about referring to the division as "Universal NBC Television", but then reverted back to the Universal Television name because they probably didn't want people to confuse it with NBCUniversal Television.
Anyway, that's all I have to say about this video. If you read all of this, then I seriously respect you. I hope you guys enjoy this video because this took me a really long time to make, especially with how laggy my laptop has been acting lately. This is MrDIRECTOREIGHT signing out!

i meant his original channel, but i still am kinda skeptical about that new channel. i can't tell if it's actually him or just someone trying to pose as him, cuz on his original channel he hadn't uploaded anything in like years.
Some of these variants belong to me (also known as Sloshy); I originally sent them to Pepsi9072. May you add me in the credits?
@@SloshedMail sure, thanks for letting me know
You're very welcome.
On the description of Pepsi9072's videos there should also mention a thanks or "submission sent by" which is where some of these came from. Hopefully this helps in the future when it comes to finding out true sources.
It's amazing to think that the music they used (starting with Revue dropping from the alphabet strips) has survived DECADES in some form or another. They modified it a bit at a time, but the basic tune still lives.
Yeah they never actually changed the theme until 1975, which is crazy to think. And if you really wanna dive further, MCA TV gave the original Revue theme a resurgence from 1984 all the way up to 1991, so they never fully gave up the Revue theme until 1991. That's 30+ years that they were using that theme right there!

The crazy part is that you can still hear that song some other times in this video, even in our days (to my knowledge)! This song surely will never die, just like SpongeBob SquarePants.

That MCA Tv in da 80's was something like a goddamn ticking time bomb or a countdown, but the truth be told about the logo, I have nightmares as a kid.

I Love Your Video History On Universal, Sir.....MCA Had an Amazing History. So Does Universal.....💯💯💯✨👍🏾
24:32 Whatever those songs are, they rock.
I believe both of those logos had the closing theme to the Tonight Show with Jay Leno
it includes universal television original (1963-2004)

My favorite logo
WOW! You actually LEFT OUT the *Television Distribution* version
of the 2004 NBC Universal logo ON PURPOSE! WHY?
Because 1. We would be here forever, and 2. The Television Distribution part of that company is different of the Television Studio division, which was the result of Universal Television merging with NBC Studios.
#3. That's a copout,@@MrDIRECTOREIGHT -- because you had the Television Distribution
variants of the 1997 Universal Television logo here and that is the EXACT SAME DIVISION
we're speaking of! Also, your audience would NOT have complained another 30 seconds
being added to a LOGO HISTORY video, so nobody's buying the answer you just gave.
BY THE WAY -- I am NOT talking about the purple logo with the ugly minimalist text that came years later.
Ok, I will not take this slander. I started working on this video since my birthday last year and had multiple problems trying to find the best quality videos (which for some of these logos and variants, it just wasn't possible) and with editing it, because my editing software isn't really the best and it crashes half the time. I had to start this video over from scratch twice (you would've known that if you had checked my Twitter, I was posting frequently about this video.) Also if I had included the Television Distribution division (which I'll be honest, I should've done more research and included it), I would've also had to include not just the shitty logo from 2011, but also the Syndication Studios logo since that's their new name. And I already mentioned most of this stuff in the description. And plus I thought it just made since to only include the Television Studio division, because the current Universal Television that it became in 2011 is just a production division after all, and so was NBC Universal Television Studio and Universal Media Studios. Again, I should've included the Television Distribution division, but don't just look at this as me copping out on everybody and make it look like I just didn't feel like including it. I'm not mad at your comment either, I'm just tryna clear some things up here.
