    Great video.
    I don't agree with your statement that he doesn't have a White album or whatever.
    He has it.
    It's called: From Elvis in Memphis
    A little tip for one of his more mature albums from the 70s:
    Today - 1975
    This is my favourite from that period

    Idk about everyone else but I think Raised On Rock, Good Times and Promised Land are very underrated Elvis albums. Good Times is a personal favorite of mine out of his discography. But of course, his best work are from the 50s and early 60s. There’s no arguing with that statement.

    The screwed up the label for Roustabout. They chose the 2nd version label (like Girl Happy) instead of the 1st version label (like Kissin Counsins). The first version label (Silver top stereo with large Nipper) on Roustabout was available for about two weeks before it was replaced by the second version label (White top stereo with smaller Nipper). It is so rare the people who designed this boxset probably were not even aware of the 1st pressing label design of Roustabout.

    Great set. Unfortunately, it's missing the soundtracks for both Jailhouse Rock and Viva Las Vegas. WTF?

    • @CerealAtMidnight
      @CerealAtMidnight  Před 5 lety +1

      The songs from Jailhouse Rock are there. That was a six-song EP, so those songs ended up on the 1959 compilation album "A Date With Elvis." As for Viva Las Vegas and the four songs on that EP, I can't find them! So they may very well not be on the set, but they might be included as bonus tracks on one of the CDs.

    • @brocklinehan
      @brocklinehan Před 5 lety +1

      If it's supposed to be all the albums RCA released, then those two albums should be there. If that means that some of the songs are repeated, so be it. For the money this set is going for, if they say it's everything, then it should be everything.

    • @CerealAtMidnight
      @CerealAtMidnight  Před 5 lety

      It’s not quite everything, but to be fair, Sony Legacy doesn’t claim that it’s complete, either. It’s just called the RCA Albums Collection. They never indicate that it’s everything, though it is the most comprehensive Elvis box set ever released.

    • @Russ34
      @Russ34 Před 5 lety

      The 2 albums you list as missing do not exist - Jailhouse Rock and Viva Las Vegas were released as EP's only.

    • @jonathanaldecoa1099
      @jonathanaldecoa1099 Před 4 lety

      Russ34 that’s correct, they were indeed EP’s. They are missing a few of the Camden albums, which songs from those albums show up as bonus tracks spread over the collection, along with others. I’ve recreated a playlist that follows the Complete Masters box set and most of it is there using this Album box set as a source. With the exception of the Country album, with those annoying snippets of I Was Born 1,000 Years Ago. For those tracks I used the 70’s Essential and Good Rocking Tonight boxes and a budget “country’” themed compilation, that had a cut of Tomorrow Never Comes, that’s the same mix from the 70’s Box set, sans the false start, as sources.

  • @ajsmith5295

    I did not put this because it isn't the complete album collection in his lifetime missing are such albums as Burning Love hits from the movies separate ways You'll Never Walk Alone but it is a brilliant boxer but I'm a perfectionist and because they lied their company and there's no reason to miss them album so I didn't bother buying it

    • @CerealAtMidnight
      @CerealAtMidnight  Před 3 lety

      They never marketed the set as complete, but it is, in fact, darn near close to complete. You'll Never Walk Alone was a compilation that only had two new songs. Those songs are here.

    So what exactly would you need besides this collection to have the complete Elvis?

    • @CerealAtMidnight
      @CerealAtMidnight  Před 4 lety +2

      While I'm not an expert, I believe 99 percent of the studio tracks Elvis ever recorded are here in some form, even if some are hidden. Elvis had a ton of compilation albums that featured older songs with a few new ones added to entice buyers (You'll Never Walk Alone, Separate Ways, etc), so while those albums aren't here (preventing track redundancy), the new songs that were on those albums are here on various discs as "bonus tracks." So just to clarify, while this box set doesn't contain every ALBUM (because Elvis had a ton of compilations), it does seem to contain pretty much all his SONGS from the RCA period. A few of his Sun Records songs from the fifties seem to be missing. Also an album called Having Fun with Elvis On Stage is missing.
      For live recordings, that's a whole other matter. There seem to be an endless list of those, both official and unofficial. I'd also recommend tracking down Way Down in the Jungle Room, which collects raw takes from the seventies before producers overdubbed them with strings and horns.
      Hope all that makes sense! The box set really is remarkable. I've had it for years now and still haven't uncovered all of its secrets. 60 discs is a lot of material, and while it may not be totally complete, it's remarkably close to it.

      @@CerealAtMidnight They didn't include Having Fun with Elvis on Stage because it's not music, it's just him talking. That gave it some weird issues with copyright too.

  • @giuseppecoluccia7230
    @giuseppecoluccia7230 Před 7 lety +1

    why there isn't the Golden Records vol. 5?

    • @CerealAtMidnight
      @CerealAtMidnight  Před 7 lety +2

      I'm only guessing, but I suspect that Golden Records 5 simply wasn't considered essential by the people who put this set together. Golden Records 5 came out in 1984, years after Elvis died, and didn't make the charts, peaking at #207. There are several compilations like that which aren't included in this set but that I wish were, like "Worldwide 50 Gold Award Hits #1," a four-LP- set which was the first time a lot of his late sixties singles were collected on an album.
      However, there's no music missing from this collection. The songs that were on "Golden Records 5" are scattered around on other albums as bonus tracks. For instance, "From Elvis in Memphis" has the singles "In the Ghetto," "Suspicious Minds," and "Kentucky Rain" as bonus tracks after the album proper. They seem to have grouped the singles with albums from the time period and recording sessions pretty well. .

Not all albums get their own dedicated CD in this set, and some albums share a disc, especially if they're thematically linked like the sessions you mentioned. Similarly, his singles from each period are also reflected as bonus tracks on many of the discs.
