I want to play this game badly as I love Half-life, but I'm not really a huge fan of VR.
@ayyy__donkey Atmosphere in Half-Life series always been great thats no doubt but forcing people to buy VR headset isnt what Valve used to do back in the day.

I've played through the game 3 times to get all achievements and planning on playing my 4th soon with some mods and I'll say this now to those who don't have VR:
Prepared to be underwhelmed.
Enemy encounters will be exceedingly easy on desktop and the levels aren't very long, it caters to exploration in VR which isn't really going to be too much a thing on desktop.
I really just can't see this game being much fun at all on desktop and I don't want people to think after playing the desktop mod that the game itself is bad as you're not playing it as the developers intended, no matter how cheesy that sounds it's true. Half Life Alyx is currently my favourite game after managing to top my Nier: Automata experience and I don't want people to form an opinion based around a mod.

@GoTi4No People who say HL:A should be accessible to non-VR are purists? Yeah , people with motion sickness? vertigo and nausea? Half life is all about silent and badass scientist going through hell to escape and fight against empire together with surviving resistance. It's all about the eerie, unnatural also relatable futuristic environment, the plot inspired by Stephen King's writing, extreme details and lore behind (almost) everything in game world. .
With HL:A, They dumbed down enemies , because it wasn't suitable for VR. They partially replaced the missing challenge by two things: the challenge coming from VR controls itself and increasing scarcity. Alyx is literally a claustrophic exploration and scavenging game.... Tbh, a great one, too. But a bad half life game. But, are they really planning to overthrow multidimensional galactic empire just simply scavenging empty apartments? Really ? It's okay that there is no melee fight.. Then , where is AR/AR2's and rocket launchers ? Where is the new equivalent of Gravity/Tau/Gluon gun? Little sense of freedom is now completely replaced with Alyx's corridors. They had to cut down a lot of content and fill it with generic VR "content". HL/HL2 series had and still have one of the best AI behaviors. Grenade fuse time is a joke, so you can throw them back at combine ... there have to be explosive barrel everywhere... yeah... totally not an out of place , immersion breaking "plot fillings".
@@ruslankazimov622 you do know that some people get motion sick playing flatscreen games too? Innovation isn’t possible because of people who want to cling onto worse technology. Sometimes things are gonna be too expensive to buy live with it. Maybe one day you will be able to play it

Kidding... I'll waiting for commercial flights. If you are so keen on justifying purchase, keep going. There are very little quality games to play. I don't see Alyx being 1/2 successfull as previous titles... I personally don't give a fuck about VR. It's far away from Virtual Reality. It's just a small screen that allows in game camera to turn around in sych with your device's sensors. I don't fall for marketing. Virtual reality is much more sci-fi . I might get into it in 7-8 years. Right now, it's not like you plug it on and spawn in virtual world and have full interaction... and i don't think it will be possible within next 15 years.VR is not decent meduim to tell stories ... it's not suitable for competitive gaming . I'm not interested in holding objects... and being able to inspect them in 360 for rest of my life. I'm 3d artist by hobby. When I did it for the first time, it was really cool to just download models , play with them... making sceneries and just spectating it for minutes... Spoilers: it becomes boring and you want new things.

I'd say bring it in a little bit closer, seems a little bit too far out infront of her.
Now Half-Life: Alyx feels really special since it's a new Half-Life game, we've got a new story, graphics and gameplay. Basically the game itself is way different from the original HL or HL2. But by looking at the non VR mod Alyx starts to be like HL2 with differences that it's another part of the story and with improved graphics. I'm not saying that I'm dissapointed, i'm honestly happy about it and can't wait till it release so I will be able to play finally Alyx. But it just showcases of how Alyx without VR lost potential, not just by less player interaction but just in general, it feels like you were playing Half-Life 2: Episode 3 that got released 13 years after the Episode 2 with graphical improvements

Oh wow, you got bobbing on the view models when the camera is moving! I've been waiting to see that since these mods were starting to be implemented. Great work!
I don't know if it's just from the FOV being higher than I'm used to, but the model seems like it's kind of far away from the camera when shooting from the hip. A little too far to the right, too. I'm just thinking of Half-Life 1 & 2's pistol view models for reference.
It's definitely interesting to see what a VR to flat screen port plays like, I think this project has been looking great.
Cant wait for the full release!
The only thing I would worry about would be doubling the speed, related to hostile NPCs, movement speed and attack speed, so that it corresponds more to FPS... I rewrite this comment for be more understable

I’m playing this in vr, it really is amazing! But I’m still looking forward to playing this with mouse and keyboard. I’m interested how he will get passed some of the puzzles. They require two hands in vr, i don’t think it will be possible with mouse and keyboard. So he may have to change the puzzle completely or just bypass it. Still very excited to see this mod release.

Esta genial que continues el proyecto aunque en mi opinion me gustaba mas el progreso #2 con el arma mas cerca cuando no tiene la mira, sin que se le vea tanto los brazos asi como es Half Life 2. Espero no te lo tomes a mal, se que te estas esforzando. Es como que me pone incomodo eso al verlo.
No se como quedara con las demas armas, y no se si en algunas del progreso #2 se podria hacer que agarre el arma con las 2 manos en algunas, para variar entre las armas.
La que se me hacia rara del progreso 2 era la escopeta nueva, debe ser xq es un modelo mas grande y podria estar un poco mas alejada en esa.

IDK how much of this would be possible with the limited modding tools, but having free aim when not aiming down sights and being able to lean around corners would really suit HL:A's style of gameplay.
Looks great but it looks like the left corner of the rear sight is in the center when ADS instead of the front sight post, seems like the entire gun needs to move a little bit left when sighted.
Please finish this mod, awesome work!
