There are many "modern sounding" trance and electronic music in general from the 90 and even 80´s. Faithless, Juno Reactor, Paul Van Dyk, BT, The Orb, Front 242, Orbital, Lords of Acid, Sneake Pimps, Praga Khan, etc. (I was going to comment that the song was by Olive, not ATB, but then I saw there´s an ATB remix, which I am listening to now)... and the chords do not "remind of", they´re exactly that.
@@CzechRiot You've got the wrong assumption that I meant rest of Trance at the time was dated, I know all of the artists you've mentioned. "You're not alone" tune simply gives impression like it belonged more to mid 2000s era.
@@B1SCOOP Ididn't get the wrong assumption, nor did I say what you're claiming I implied... Also, you edited your comment after I replied to you... hahah. So I don't even remember what you wrote in the first place, but since you deleted/edited, you know you didn't express yourself correctly. And, eventually, I just said "it was the same chords", and not something that "reminded" you of something else.
@@EspritArkitekt there are several ways. In ableton you can do "convert to harmony" on a melody you like and it will convert it to individual notes, but this does not always work well. Another handy feature (which is what i also did in this vid) is Chord Memory, this lets you set a fixed chord range, so each press of a key will follow that specific chord. Most synths have it (and DAWs as well). If you try several different chord memory settings, soon enough you will find a chord that sound typically ravey, deep hous'ish or even jazzy. This is what many producers user back then and its also how most rave stabs were originally created.. But of course in some cases, because not every lead follows the same chord, you just need to practice. In that case, youtube tutorials are your friend. In that way learned myself to play tunes like sweet harmony, gipsy woman, string of life, by putting colored stickers on the key. It can be done, without any skills. And believe me i have none! see czcams.com/video/3ENsxNHe-jM/video.html
@@statenhal interesting. i've never used Abelton, i have FL...does FL have this chord memory thing? so just by using this chord memory u learnt to play those tunes by ear or did u find the sheet music or something?

You're not alone:-) nice work
DJ Demand's 1994 Dark & Light stabs -- NICE!
Lekker hè… ik heb zelf een juno 106 en Alpha juno 2… zo herkenbare geluiden. En zoveel dikke classics mee gemaakt in de jaren 90
the sound at 0:23 is really pleasant...
Excellent playing that machine thanks stan.
Dik man! Dark and light...👊
Most authentic rave stabs are further resampled, preferably to 8/12bit ~22,7 kHz:) The 0:58 chords remind me of ATB - You're not alone.
You mean, Olive - You're not alone?
@@robbepetitjean4343 So, that was the original. Sounds quite modern for a 1997 Trance production.

Oh man, please tell me the SH-01a that I just bought can also do these?
