I agree with Daniela about the politics and healthcare infrastructure.
No new hospital since the fall of Communism.
People are listening to medical recommendations
The death rate is higher because of lack of competence of doctors in part because the health system is state owned and corrupted.
For example, almost no one is employed without knowing someone in the system or without being in a political party or paying a lot of money (bribes).
But also because people here don't go to the doctor early and they don't prevent disease.
Covid admissions, a sizeable proportion didn't even knew they had high blood pressure or diabetes.
And known cases, disease was not optimally controlled
Sadly I've seen a lot of people die with COVID
If it wasn't for this disease these people would have lived longer.
The political system is indeed highly corrupted and that's why also the police is doing a very poor job.
Also the judicial system is not up to standard.
I would also emigrate in the near future.
As for returning, what's the point when you, as a doctor, cannot find a job in the public healthcare system because you're not politically involved
    Steve Cosslett
"Studies in Applied Economics" is a working paper (preprint) series
States with more cases, and so potentially more deaths, will tend to have more restrictive lockdowns.
The paper doesn't address the real question: would there have been even more deaths without the lockdowns?
    Barry (US)
I am afraid that I have a rather jaundiced view of economics being described as a science,
you only have to look at how the Fed has handled the economy since 2008! We are about to pay for that economic science!

My husband is a microbiologist. From the beginning, he has said “We should protect the people that are compromised and let everyone else contract the virus.” He’s not sure if that first instinct is correct, but I wonder what would have happened if we had all done that? Would we not be so politicized in the US over this virus? I don’t understand what’s going on, but I feel like a lot of treatment in the US is political and monetized and NOT in the best interest of the individual person. Extremely frustrating.

basically, if people were "allowed" to have their doctors treat them in the early phase with FDA approved drugs, it would never had been a very big problem. People can self treat (prophylactically) with D3,C, zinc and quercetin, but many don't do this but rather follow their doctors "approved" protocols. Sadly they've been guided down paths by misguided guidelines) that too often have had bad outcomes.

Using the term “Europe” is a little misguiding. Austria (in Europe) has opted out of normalisation. The Government is still pushing ahead with compulsory vaccination, due to be enforced from March 15th. It looks to be more like an experiment in how to turn a form of democracy into an authoritarian regime without the use of violence, than a concern for people’s health, or of overloading the health system. That depends, of course, on what one defines as violence. Here, people are being coerced under the threat of heavy fines into accepting into their bodies a foreign body against their will. I believe that when aimed at other regions of the body, such an action would be termed rape.

And, other countries will eye Austria with jealousy and think "i wish we could control our citizens like this too", and start mandates of their own. Thank you Dr. Campbell. Your comments about co-morbidities (hypertension & diabetes) & that a lack of control is what leads to poor outcomes - not the illnesses in & of themselves - were a relief. As a middle-aged Type 1 Diabetic, with well-controlled /managed HbA1c'a (6.0), I feel a huge sense of relief. These is my experience with Omicron: my mom and dad have been vaccinated in spring 2021. My dad is 82, my mom is 78. Mom is recovered form 2 types of cancer (liposarcoma and breasts cancer) and has heart surgery. They didn't get the booster because of admin issues in the country. They both recovered from Omicron. Mom got to the hospital because of a panic attack induced by some news on TV related to Omicron but recovered after 1 day, dad had only some "cold like" symptoms. I am recovering from Omicron now, I am healthy, not overweight and I had cold symptoms with sever sore throat. My husband had Omicron with barely some runny nose. We have been both vaccinated in summer 2021 and didn't had the booster. We have a 3 years old with absolutely no symptoms. My sister in law is now recovering from Omicron, she is healthy and normal weight, she also had Covid Delta that got her pretty bad (home treatment though). She had also some sever cold symptoms from Omicron. She is not vaccinated. My brother took care of my sil, he is not vaccinated and he had no symptoms, after several PCR test, non was positive, no antigen positive ...nothing. Looking at my family I realize that the human body is still a mystery to us and we can't predict how it is going to react.

    • @bloepje
      @bloepje Před 2 lety +7

@random viewer He never downplayed the danger. He has always promoted mask wearing, vaccinations and showed us how deadly it is.
He also showed that Omicron according to *all* statistics is nowhere near as dangerous as delta or any parent variant of the delta.
He also showed that Denmark had that same conclusion. Unlike other countries, Denmark did all the things including aspiration and correct lockdowns and vaccination information.
You are lying about the Netherlands, because the deaths in the Netherlands have been decreasing continuously mostly because Omicron ended the Delta wave that should have been stopped with the lockdown.
The only rise in deaths we had was due to Delta, because that began in July 2021, soared in november and then we got a lock down because of "Omicron", which is a lie, it was because they let Delta run rampant. It was Omicron that saved us.
And the moment Omicron took over the 7 day average of daily deaths has been on a steady decline.
It's now on a steady 8/day, which is less than a flu would generally take (and let me put this straight: people that think that the flu is a joke are insane).
What the Dr. does remind us of: it is still covid-19. Be sure to have your vaccines, boosters and vitamin D, because you will be infected. There is no way running away from it. So why bother trying?
      Anyway "fack checking the lies":
      allecijfers.nl/nieuws/statistieken-over-het-corona-virus-en-covid19/#Corona_overledenen_per_dag
      Also:
      www.cbs.nl/nl-nl/nieuws/2022/05/sterfte-in-januari-lager-dan-verwacht-toename-in-week-4
Less deaths than predicted... We have a negative excess deaths (due to the Delta wave "clearing" those that would have died a few months early).
      coronadashboard.rijksoverheid.nl/landelijk/sterfte
also shows a trend that shows it's going down. If you realise that we are now getting the B variant and the spread is on an all time high:
      coronadashboard.rijksoverheid.nl/landelijk/positief-geteste-mensen
you will realise that omicron is more than 1000x less deadly (guesstimate) than Delta.
So yeah, our excess deaths is -12%, probably due to delta taking down a lot of people.
The major cause of death is not covid-19, that's only 1% according to statistics. It's probably a lot more because a lot of heart disease deaths might have been caused by covid-19. So let's say 2% is caused by covid-19.
      Correction:
      www.cbs.nl/nl-nl/cijfers/detail/82899NED
Unlike the USA, the CBS statistics seems to be correct.

The one person I trust in all this and watch daily. I've only had the first dose about 11 months ago. I know a few people that have died suddenly after their 2nd dose and two that are now in wheelchairs due to Guillain-Barré syndrome supposedly caused by the vaccine. Having worked through the pandemic as a lorry driver visiting multiple destinations each day and seeing only a couple of cases of serious covid I decided to take my chances. I have lymphedema in both legs and was worried about blood clots. I'm also overweight but still I bet on my own immunity. I'm still on the fence and have no idea if I've done right or wrong but I'm here and still working and never tested positive. Don't think I'll be having the 2nd jab nor boosters.

He recovered fine. I'm in my 50's, over 300 pounds and haven't had one shot, but got Omicron on New Years day or at least when I started showing symptoms. The third worst illness I've ever had, but only because symptoms lasted two weeks. I also have circulation issues in my lower legs and have been afraid to get jabbed for fear of blood clots. I'm not a person with a high level of education, left school at 16 etc, but I am able to observe and understand how the world works. From what I have seen with vaccines and medicine it is 40% science, 20% trial and error and 40% about the people involved making large amounts of money. My mother had the same belief which is why she didn't take any medicines when she was pregnant with me. As I was born at the time of the Thalidomide scandal, I am very grateful for her instincts on safety and how it's best to think critically about these things. (In her youth doctors promoted smoking cigarettes.) I am very happy to carry on being un-vaccinated against Covid for now, and I will review things once the trials of the Covid vaccine are over in 2023. By that time the real risks and benefits will be better known, just like Thalidomide and smoking.

You are correct. If people were honest they would realise the vaccine is no longer of any use.
For example with one vaccine there is the possibility that most people suffer clotting but anyone who flags this is likely to lose their incomes and by total censorship no other scientist is researching this properly.
Thalidomide is still used today and still causing flipper births. Medicine and Big pHARMa seem to imagine that if they know how to avoid the problem that all the world will as well but this isn’t so.
If it took so much to realise harm from thalidomide then we can realise why vaccines et al cause so much divergent views today.
I know thalidomide people except they are not recognised as thalidomide by the authorities and further thalidomide babies that never got to life have also been discarded in both senses. The catastrophe was far worse than statistics tell us today. USA did escape most harm by a rather clever person refusing to give approval too quickly.

  • @hal5586
    @hal5586 Před 2 lety +185

Dr. Campbell, I appreciate your presentation of the data. A comparison of the statistics across the world is very helpful.
There are critical stages at which to have an affect on an infectious virus, as you well know. Prevention, or pretreatment, early treatment, or critical care, in hospital. The approach that has been taken in the US is to pay no attention to building immunity, e.g., no public service announcements regarding benefits of Vitamin D, Vitamin C, and other supplements. Physicians tell patients to go home until your lips turn blue and obviously seriously ill and then report to the hospital. If effort had been given to early treatment protocols many lives could have been saved, because the pneumonia stage is difficult to deal with, leading to huge death rates.
Why has such incompetence prevailed, when some of our most distinguished physicians that have had the most success in treating the virus were screaming the proper practice of medicine? In my humble opinion, if you are looking for an answer to why the hospitalizations and deaths in the US are so much higher than the rest of the world, it's because we labor under a dysfunctional public health system that is corrupted by the big money of the pharmaceuticals. The pharmaceutical industry has so much control over the FDA, the CDC, and everyone associated with "sick care" since we don't have "health care". Physicians follow a cookbook methodology with the PDA as their bible.

The mention of this 70% aim angers me. Globally, one in nine people are hungry or undernourished. 2.37 billion people did not have access to enough safe and nutritious food in 2020. Do WHO etc really think that these people's priority is a vaccine? HA. no. Across the African continent, Asia, Central America there are people still with no access to safe drinking water. Saying that they need a vaccine to be 'safe' is just ludicrous. Furthermore, if 70% of the community gain natural immunity, as they have achieved in South Africa, then that will be far more beneficial and gives far more durable immunity than any vaccine. It is hard to have any faith in our futures.

Unfortunately Dr, Campbell is still unaware: There is no legitimate evidence of a "new disease". As a biomedical engineer that's been monitoring this closely, I can tell you that for this "c - 0 - v!d" claim to be valid, the illness would need to have some kind of unique clinical symptom(s) and/or be testable with a valid method. What most people don't realize is that "c - 0 - v!d" doesn't have ANY unique symptoms AND the tests being used to "diagnose" people have never undergone any validation studies, which means they're entirely meaningless. Misleading really. In other words, "c - 0 - v!d" is a rebadge & relabeling of pretty much any, nothing (no symptoms at all), and everything; namely the flu.

Thanks Dr. Campbell, for reviewing Russia. I am writing with an auto-translator, so sorry for the mistakes. Yes, indeed, in terms of excess mortality, my country has broken all records compared to previous years. Of course, the coronavirus has had a significant impact on this. But many other factors also influenced this. On the one hand, the lockdown was good, since our healthcare would not be able to withstand such a load. On the other hand, people, out of fear of getting infected, did not go to doctors for other diseases.
I was born, lived, studied and worked in the USSR. She lived in the GDR for another 5 years in her youth. With freedoms, we were not very good, but the Soviet country promoted a healthy lifestyle, since the new state needed healthy builders of communism. Much attention was also paid to disease prevention.
In kindergarten, children were given fish oil and calcium chloride. Then it turned out to be harmful. Be sure to give kefir for an afternoon snack, which is now called probiotics. There were no TVs, and the children spent a lot of time outdoors with outdoor games. In winter - skiing. All physical education lessons were almost always outdoors. Now all children are sitting at home with smartphones and iPhones. In winter, there were no fresh tomatoes and cucumbers in stores, but Soviet citizens always had sauerkraut, pickled mushrooms and cucumbers in their homes. You say today that these are all useful products for prevention. Bananas, pineapples, oranges were in short supply, but there were always a lot of apples and plums on the table of Soviet citizens. There were a lot of fruits in the southern republics, but not in the northern ones.
The USSR was not so rich in pharmaceutical preparations, but many medicinal herbs were studied.Doctors knew how to treat without pharmaceuticals. Now we have a lot of medicines, but doctors treat worse. Today, everyone leads a sedentary and unhealthy lifestyle, eats fast food and has more diseases.
There is something good in every time.
Now we have a lot of sick people - both vaccinated and unvaccinated. I don’t particularly see the point in vaccines. Basically, everyone is treated on an outpatient basis. They get sick easily, so they don’t go to doctors and don’t get tested. There are fewer hospitalized, and doctors from hospitals are sent to polyclinics, as there are now long queues. Rapid tests in pharmacies are very expensive, Russian pensioners cannot buy them with their pension. But so far it's not all that bad.
I would like to know how things are in Cuba. Very little is written about her. I heard the health care is good there.

I agree with this post. Some disagreements. I don't think the goal was to have healthy builders of communism, it is ridiculous. In general, the authorities in the Soviet Union and they were made up of the regular folks, but the best, they cared about the people overall, the whole policy of our country was such. We had strict standards over the quality of food and cosmetics, no preservatives, no chemicals added, only natural ingredients. Our bread was almost gourmet by the Western standards, freshly baked every day, milk sold fresh and raw and pastured, Keefer
and similar products were common food. We had our own good pharmacy industry and drugs were safe. Physical education and physical activities were popular, children were evolved in after school free sport teams, groups, dances. Indeed, we had TV and our TV programs were wholesome and promoted only good positive things, bad things and bad influences were censored out. Our medical system was preventive, screening health of people every year, very good one and free. Many people had their own little land plots with little cottages on them and grew their own organic foods, it was very common.
People in general trusted the government and doctors, not like it is now. I am pretty sure had we had our country, the USSR now, we would have had much, much better results in preventing and treating the Covid -19. We used to have strong boarders to protect the country, special military forces guarding them, we used to have a whole army of medical doctors - sanitary -epidemiologists, experienced to fight and prevent epidemics as we used to successfully fight many of them in the past. We used to have remedies like interferon wildly available to people to prevent the flu, vitamin C was very much in use as Vit. D, code liver oil, and aloe, Vit. B complexes, herbs, etc. In general, we didn't have obese people, very, very rare, so the general health of our people used to be in much better shape that it is now.

The situation in Romania and Russia are quite explainable and understandable, it's just what it is and I'm not that concerned about it because it's quite clear.
I'm way much more concerned about the death rate in Israel, and that's something we should be looking into very very thoroughly. I wouldn't be surprised if in a month or two, countries would start to force 4th vaccines on people in countries with high 3rd vaccination rates, because the immunity boost from the 3rd dose is so short lived. Experts in medicine appreciate the facts about natural immunity, and many of them are starting to ask for more individualized vaccination based on their previous infection status. At this point, when a big portion of the population has already been infected and we know how low the benefits of an extra vaccination after infection are, we should definitely check the antibody status before just giving most likely meaningless vaccine to someone who only gets the increased risk of worse side effects from it rather than having any positive impact on the immunity.

Please read bio of Tedros, it'll explain a lot. He was deeply involved in terrorist organization Tigre Liberation National Front and became a Health minister in Ethiopian gov. when they seized the power (btw he's got PhD in epidemiology) and then he become friends with Bill Clinton and Bill Gates. Since he had ties with China, the major funder his Tigre Liberation Front he was posted as director General of WHO. Now you can understand why he called to keep doors open to Chinese passengers at the onset of pandemic. This guy makes me sick to my stomach, horribly corrupt. Anyway, his position is the illustration of the saying: it's not important what you know but who you know.

Omicron is harmless in Europe not least because we've had lots of vaccinations and boosters. Leaving the poorer parts of the world completely unvaccinated as Dr. Campbell suggests is not what I would hope for old people in those countries.

@@KlausJLinkeProtect the elderly and the fragile is a must, but with Omicron you don't need to vaccinate every age group. My mother is 83, unvaccinated, she got Omicron and was fully recovered in four days. She said she have had regular colds much worse than Omicron... Now she has full natural immunity and can do whatever she wants on Wednesday when Sweden ends all restrictions. Omicron is nature's own vaccine, truly a gift from mother nature itself.

Instead of "Omicron is the vaccine we failed to make", I would suggest the more accurate description "Omicron is the distribution of immunology, we failed to reach by vaccination" or "Omicron is the immunology, we failed to distribute by vaccines alone".

sorry but the current vaccines do not give any immunity. They are helping to reduce the death rate. the statement is 100% correct. proven by data. you should go and watch the main stream media. this is not a channel for you. bye..

The amalgamation of the local news media into conglomerates using AP wire, Reuters and so on in the 1970s and 80s led to those local papers not sending their own reporters to cover stories. It really paved the way for singular voice of "the media" we see today. So... by the time the second tower fell and Bush signed the Patriot Act there weren't a million voices screaming against the surveillance of the common person. Fast forward 20 years and there is not enough screaming against the idea of a vaccine passport or "two weeks to flatten the curve". What most of us don't remember is that many of these things happened under CONSERVATIVE leadership. I try to show people who are liberal that these are their freedoms, too...
