Very respectful of the young lady around 13:40 who was aware of Leachman coming up behind her and moving over a lane to let her pass.
even checked her blindspot before getting back in the lane 😭
I saw that too.
She didn't win the race but that's first class in the human race.
Totally Classy what she did!!!!!
I also noticed that. Very cool.
Very noticeable how many did not too.
Im 72, watched many races at all levels. Ive seen some impressive records set. It is always very exciting to be able to watch some young athlete give a performace like this.
That young lady started that race in high gear and in the last lap she hit overdrive. What a race.
You just liked looking at her💩maker.
😂😂😂😂❤❤💯💯💯💯
She must be in great shape.
Wait till a male races them. Her record isn't going to last long.
Wow!
That girl was like a machine. Kept consistent the whole race. Congratulations to her. That is awesome.
she lapped most of the field
What an impressive feat.
PED’s perhaps?
Her record is going to be broken by a man, sad.

Wow, this brought tears to my eyes. She has it all. The body, the heart, the mind, the focus, the determination, the spirit, and the love of running.
This is what true freedom looks like.
This video was awesome. Her speed was incredible. No overwhelming commentary, no video cuts, replays, etc. It shows what it’s like to be there in a stadium witnessing history, and my god she was moving!
They'll eff up this sport and her record as soon as some MAN decides to pretend he's a woman. No??
Oh, it's happening. STAND YOUR GROUND LADY'S!!!

@@Kidbuckedno she is not a man. Sorry to have to point that out to you.
As a dad with a son and a daughter who both run competitively, this was emotional for me. What heart this young lady showed. How wonderful that the crowds were led to cheer her on. Beautiful to watch. Love from Sydney - Dave
Much love boss and I pray for you and your kids … thanks for the beautiful comment, I resonate my friend
@gopperbenson826 Thank you! You have a big heart and I reciprocate. All the best to you and yours too, David
Love this, so inspiring at 73 and endeavoring to comeback to running and wow this helps Thanks so Much!
@user-jn7rf9vt6l Great to hear and I wish you well in your endeavour. You sound like a young 73 and soon you will have wings on your feet! All the best from Sydney, Dave

That’s insane. My fastest 5k was 17:15, when I was in the Marines. A grown ass man, and she blew my time out of the water!!! Freaking Outstanding
Thank You for Serving!!!!!
Some people are born with it, born with a talent for something. She has not only the god given (genetic) traits, I'm sure she trains hard.
@@user-en9qd5nx8w 100%, it’s a talent that mean fuck all, if you don’t train. This girl has to have dedication that is unrivaled.
Yeah. But you were carrying grenades and stuff . Thank you for your service.
A different story ( in USMC ) when you’re carrying & packin’. I respectfully refer you to your REAL competitive standard, Maj. Emil Zatipek of the Czech Army, who was known to run in the snow, in his army boots just to train.
That was truly amazing. That is an outstanding performance for any high school athlete, but for a sophomore to do it is unbelievable. Elizabeth Leachman? I'll remember that name. Very well done. Her running style, while being used for a distance race, looks to me like that of sprinter Michael Johnson.
She's what 15? It is early in the season, no competition. Whew! Keep injury free, my girl. You're going places.
Let’s hope she does not go down the distance runners ED path.

What an amazing young athlete Elizabeth Leachman is. Congratulations on a world record race. I have seen many long distance runners but this young lady has to be one of the strongest runners I have ever watched.
Elizabeth LeachmanThis standing ovation is for youStill Standing
At about 3:29 she is running so relaxed, the camera is zoomed in on her, and you can see her smile as she rounds the curve. She is definitely feeling good. It is such a blessing to be able to watch such a talented athlete performing at such a young age. Good things are ahead for her.
I know that feeling exactly, when I'm running a 5k and it just feels so effortless, like I'm floating.
It lasts for about the first 50 meters, then it's back to reality.😂
When I used to run it was like full focus mode, I enjoyed the feeling when you are just fully aware your breathing, pace and how your body feels like. It was fun to be also strong in mental games while competing. Mind is nr1.
And… she sprinted to the end. I love to see this level of hard work by our young people.
👍👍👍
when this video started, it looked like she was sprinting and the rest of the pack was just 'running' but she kept up at that blistering leg speed --AMAZING--My God does she run!
Congratulations Elizabeth Leechman 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾🇬🇧

What an amazing experience watching the pinnacle performance of this athlete. 😊
Very balanced running style and incredible stamina, the dedication needed to get to that level at such a young age is very impressive. Hope she can stay injury free and have a successful career as an elite athlete.
Way to go Elizabeth. I just saw this video and I'm sure everyone like me, is proud of you. God knows, your hard work is paying off. Keep going for it, God bless you.
I wish She wins many Olympics Golds Medals. Awesome running Champion 🏆
She is a high school sophomore. Every speed increase from here on out becomes harder. No guarantee that she can retain her superiority to olympic level. I wish her the best.
That's a tall order as if there aren't Kenyans, Ethiopians, other Africans who are also busy training ..🤔
WOW ! This young lady is absolutely amazing, God has indeed blessed her !
My total respect to this young lady, outstanding race.
👍👍👍👍
Dear Ms. Leachman. Wow! My first introduction to your work. You are truly gifted. And the craziest part....?? You've got definite room for growth to become even faster 😱! One day at a time and just keep winning the race to enjoy the simplest things about life. Wishing you good health and good spirits.
Over 5 seconds faster than Valby's 2023 NCAA Outdoor 5000m Championship. Super impressive given Leachman ran this COMPLETELY alone from the gun. That's crazy hard. At least Valby had a chase pack always within 3-4 secs to provide motivation for the entire race until the last 800m... when she started to kick. This girl reminds me of Natalie Cook. Has her speed and talent, but Leachman seems to be A LOT more durable and biomechanically more efficient.
You’d think opening with a 1:11 400 meter would be suicidal, but yet she never blew up.
I still think KT had a more efficient stride..but yeah..she's fast as f
The announcer helped push her. Good job.
Valby's run 14:52 indoors (32 seconds faster). Your comparison doesn't accurately reflect their respective current potentials in this event. In the future that may very well change, but it's not fair to either one of these young women to be distorting the reality.
Wow Elizabeth, I’m 69 tomorrow and I was moved after seeing this run to respond. Never done this before but by your amazing performance, grace and sheer determination, I gotta say what you have that is so rare, take care of it and continue to nurture it. It is your ticket as long as you want. Great job!🙌🏼
And, she's a real woman! Congratulations!

Great run by Beth! Excited to watch her career unfold. And props to the athlete at 13:38 for making way - that's good track etiquette.
13:38 I know! I was super impressed by her courtesy.

Indeed - you can see that the other gal was waiting for Elizabeth to get close before moving over. And then she moved back to the inner edge of the track once she passed. Bravo to both of them!

Faster than Katelyn and she's a sophomore?!?! I would never have believed it if I didn't see it. She runs faster than I did as a senior in HS and I won A LOT of races. This is just amazing!

I thoughts the same. My fastest 5k was 15:58:58. Granted that was on hilly terrain, I don’t think I could ever beat her time on a track doing it. That takes a lot of mental toughness.
Job well done to this young woman.
What is a sophomore please, I'm from England so not sure, but dayum, what a run. I got breathless watching it.
She is a monster. She did what one actually shouldn't do: took the lead at the very beginning and stayed at the top all the time till the last step. What a character
Congratulations Elizabeth. Hope to watch you run in the Olympics some day.
WOW, I'm speechless.
She's got a great, effortless stride. So impressive.
I ran track and XC in HS, and I've never seen a HS sophomore crush college runners before. This was a very impressive run, goose-bump stuff. I'm pleased to see that she is a modest, level-headed girl, and I hope she can stay that way, because if she stays healthy she is going to become a role model for many in the years to come.
Absolutely amazing, she will be a champion in life!!!
This is unbelievably impressive! If, you followed Katelyn Tuohy's middle school and high school career, this young person and this race look exactly like Katelyn's races! She runs the race alone. Just her against the clock and sets national records! If, she starts her own channel (and she may already have) I will be following her! Just like Katelyn Tuohy, Niko Young, Collin Salmon, Aaron Salmon and Lex and Leo Young. If, you did not see these young athletes run over time ( and still at the collegiate level) you missed greatness!!! You have the opportunity now, it appears, to watch Elizabeth do the same or better! Also, a shoot out to high schooler Aria Pierce, a sprinter, I belive about to enter high school. She does have her own channel.
Hard to run alone against the clock. Brilliant effort Elizabeth.
What an outstanding display of everything it takes to be a Champion. She will never forget this moment. The terror, the anguish, the pain, the will, the overpowering determination to finish the race. I am privileged to be able to watch this display of dominating every obstacle that She had to defeat. May She continue to show other humans how to succeed.
Amazing. She set her pace at the start and never missed a step.
wow! Amazing time
That's talent. Can't wait to see what she does.
That was amazing. What a star.
Awesome! So happy to see that incredible effort!
Awesome 5 seconds faster than parker valby there who is now down to 14.52 in college.
Leachman is so young and has 6 years to surpass that.
I hope she does not overdo it and get injured.
To work on her breathing and stamina swimming like Parker is good and high attitude and cross trying on the arc trainer and plenty of rest and injury preventive checkups and strategy training videos and plans and diets plans.
Wow, what a beast.
😂 nailed it!
Wow. Absolutely amazing race!
I can't even imagine how much mental strength it takes to run to a national record all by yourself. She definitely left it all on the track!
All hail the prodigy. Speechless.

Congrats on the record. Tremendous!
There was a time a few decades ago when lapped runners would move out a lane to allow the faster runners through. Sadly that is very rare now. To her credit, one runner did move out, but worldwide that is very much the exception.
It’s irritating. The other runners could move over and help her. It is noticeable that it doesn’t happen often nowadays. Would have been worth a few seconds and reduced the risk of tripping over lapped runners
@@danielboone8748 Yes, and they had exactly the same issues 30 years ago, when they did move over as a matter of course. Also, one runner did move over. I've simply noted the change over the years. Runners also do tend to be aware when they are being caught.
It's the responsibility of the passer to change lanes, not the passee
@@BaseballPlayer0 Not when being lapped. It always was the duty of the person being lapped not to get in the way of the faster runners. It is the same in motorsports. In F1 and other race series that a car being lapped has a duty to get out of the way.

She could have knocked another 5 seconds off that time if the people being lapped had the courtesy to move out of the lane.
To be fair it's hard to know when someone else is going to lap you because for the most part you are focusing on your own race. I know this from experience.
If I got lapped by a sophomore in high school as a college athlete, I would just quit. Damn, that's embarrassing.

That was very inspiring to watch.
Incredible performance. I never knew very much about Elizabeth until today. I haven't been in peak running shape for many years, and I've switched mostly to swimming. But I knew just looking at those girls when they stepped up to start that something special was going to happen. If you are in tune enough with nature you can spot special things when they are about to happen. Like when you know nothing about the horses in a race, but you see that one and for some reason to you it feels more electric than all the other horses, how it walks, the look in its eyes, the intensity it has just standing there at the starting line. She left it all out there on the track. Just an incredible performance and a well-deserved victory.
