When i first moved in to Military housing i didn't know what to expect or how much the cost would be, i searched around on CZcams for videos but i couldn't find much so i decided to give you a house tour of my quarter here at Pirbright. Hopefully, if you are in a similar situation to what i was this may help you out.

Great video. From SFA pages on gov.uk website, in case viewers are interested:
“To be entitled to apply for Service Family Accommodation (SFA), service personnel must:
- be aged 18 and over
- be married or in a civil partnership or who have permanent custody of children
- have at least 6 months to serve
Service personnel who have completed more than 4 years of service and are in an established Long-Term Relationship (LTR(E)) are also eligible to cohabit in surplus SFA, when available. An LTR(E) will be defined by specified criteria and recorded as such on Joint Personnel Administration (JPA).
SFA is at service personnel’s duty station or within a set radius; although you may be eligible to apply for surplus SFA at other locations.”
Thank you so much for this! I’ve pinned the comment so it remains at the top. 🙏🏼

@JEMster70. Can I qualify for this type of accommodation when my wife (no kids) is not yet with me here in the UK
As far as I can make out from the more detailed regulations, you have to be living with your spouse in order to be eligible. However, if you have a date for when your spouse is due to join you in the UK then you may be able to make an early application to acquire a property from that date, so long as you have the relevant evidence to show that they are on the way.
@@TheJEMster70 thank you
Cracking content 👍
A rare insight into British military married quarters.
It’s a vast improvement from the 80’s/90’s.
We didn’t even have wall to wall carpeting back then 🤣
😂😂😂
Thats a really nice house, not what i imagined military housing to look like at all. Thank you for the insight, keep the videos coming!
👊🏻
£325 IM PAYING ............for living in the block🙈....however this vlog is really useful for ppl whos looking to movin, good one bro. Day 4 done 😈
Day 5 here we come!
wow when i joined and joined my first regiment we didn't pay that much i don't think we even paid anywhere near £100 and all our meals was included, even in basic training our accommodation and meals weren't even that much per week as we was paid weekly during training, but after basic training finished we weren't allowed to buy our own kits from outside companies like soldiers can do these days, but that was way back at the start of the 80s
@@DanMTomo I get paid 250 to live in SSSA downtown haha!
@@MikeyG1611 HAHA nice mate! Absolutely laughing!
I've loved this video me and my partner are in a long distance relationship and are going to move in once I've pass my driving test. I'd love it if you done a Q&A on the military housing. I reckon you'd get alot of views as there's not much on CZcams about it
Yea sure I can do that, it’s something I’m planning on doing at some point. Whatever questions you have let me know on Instagram and when I’ve got a good number of questions i will do a q+a video
SFA is graded 1-4 1 being like spankers, 4 being like refurbished. My quarter on Thorney Island was 4. The porch was held up by scaffolding, and when it came to marching out, it probably was in better condition than when i marched in.
🤣🤣🤣
Finally a video of military housing. Im new to all of this as hubby has almost finished his phase 1 at Pirbright. Eventually we will be moving into army housing. Your really luck as your house is lovely compared to some i have seen. You have made it look very cosy so well done to you and your wife.
Thank you, hopefully you get a good one too!
Form E1132 for first timers and E 1132e If you want to change house if you have a child over 11yrs old or anything broken in the house that is going to be highest priority for Eg: a leaking ceiling etc👍🏽
Thank you! 🙏🏼 I knew it was but then thought I better check before giving out wrong info. I hope you and the family are well 👊🏻
Great vlog Dan, you keep coming out with all the answers to stuff a lot of others don't touch upon. I knew Married quarters was a thing, but had no idea on cost or quality. That's a really nice place you and Kylie have got there, I love how Doug has his own space too! Looking forward to tomorrow's!
Thank you Paul 🙏🏼
Great video and a really good idea to choose housing as a subject as I know its something people will be interested to get more information about such as value for money etc. Cheers.
🙏🏼👊🏻🙏🏼
Hi Dan why is your volume so low when your talking? watching your vlogs makes me think about how i wish i was still in the army as i had to retire from all military life due to a back problem i sustained on exercise as i served in both the regulars and the TA, and joining the army was the best thing i ever did as it gave me purpose in life, took away my boredom, made lots of friends, and taught me new skills and discipline, etc
Well hopefully this channel will bring back memories of the days you served! I think when I recorded this video there was something wrong with my microphone, I believe the problem is now solved and hopefully my latest videos don’t have the same lack of volume?
Are there still loads of abandoned empty houses up there? I remember as a kid going up there and looking around them all. It was really surreal.
Not that I know of, I’m guessing they may have been rebuilt or refurbished unless they are tucked away somewhere I don’t know off
@@DanMTomo My mum still lives locally and went to have a look this morning, she said there’s still quite a few empty ones around heather walk area but said they’ve tidied it up a lot since all those years ago. They were using the empty ones to train police dogs for a while at one point but were just left about 50 houses empty for years.
Hello well the housing quarters have certainly changed since my day you couldn’t pick where you wanted to live it was what you’ve got given like it ior lump it 3 colours for the walls beige sage or diarrhoea plus you had to use their furniture all in all I had about 10 moves with the army I think you’re a lovely lad and especially thinking of your new wife leaving Nottingham not far from me actually wish you all the best for the future hope she likes the new house………….Kimberley🇬🇧
Can you live off barracks if you are close to were you're posted. And another good video with plenty of information and your home looks amazing
Yes you can. Thank you 🙏🏼 👊🏻
Well a massive improvement from the one I was in at bulford
Great production TOMO! 🔥 just found your channel! Boy does this bring back memories! Green as the grass you 😅😅😅
🤣🤣🤣 thanks mate, hope you are well 👊🏻
Actually way back in the 80S i had a mate who was a DI at the Pirbright Guards Depot all arms drill wing and his pad was pretty decent compared to the ones that i had the misfortune to live in, and i was a SNCO
I think it’s just the luck of the draw, I have a few friends that haven’t been so lucky but for the price you pay there’s not much to grumble about
Yesss looked forward to the new vid 👍🏼
👊🏻👊🏻
Great video Dan much appreciated 👍
Thanks 👍
Great video great channel
Thanks bill 👊🏻
Thank you 😊
Great video👏 very very informative👌
👊🏻👊🏻
Hi, this video is really
Helpful! Me and my partner are in the process of applying for a house at the moment.
Are large appliances such as washing machine and fridge already there?
I’m glad this video has helped! When you apply for your house it will ask if you require any furniture such as what you have mentioned, you can then list what you would like. We brought all of our own stuff but I know people that have had dining tables, sofas etc and they have been really good quality too. Hope that helps
Can you apply for SFA even when your wife is not living with you in the UK?
I don't know what brought me to your channel , I'm a Registered Nurse 😂 but here I am 🤷🏼♀️ however I did get in the army previously so I've always had an interest. Wow I'm waffling , anyway, your house is lovely and cosy looking, and high five on that dog bedroom! That's elite
🤣🤣 don’t hold back, waffle as much as you like! Thank you so much 🙏🏼 and I’m glad this channel can be of interest to not just military personnel
@@DanMTomo haha you should thank your lucky stars I stopped waffling cause I can do the thing 24/7 😂 Yeah it's a motivational channel and I'm always seeking to be motivated AND it's a break away from medical stuff so winner winner
Hiya. You might have mentioned this in the video so I might have missed it, but Just wondering how long did the process take for you? Like how long from applying to being accepted? And How long from bidding to actually moving in? Thanks!
I can’t remember the exact timeline but the application only took a few days to be accepted, after bidding it took a few weeks to move in but that’s only because I applied about a month before I got married. Hope this helps
Great video. Just a quick question. Im due to start basic training in march and was wondering if when I pass out I need to be married to apply for family accomodation if I dont have children yet. Tanks
Never mind Ive just read the pinned comment. Whats the deal with people in long term relationships who arnt married. Can you live off camp?
@@One-EyedWilly yes you can live off camp.
Are you allowed to repaint the walls and/or change carpets?
Yes you can do pretty much what you want asking as when you eventually leave the house is the same as when you first got it
How long does it take you to get the house accepted after you applied? Going to apply for LTR housing with my boyfriend soon, but would like to know how long the process takes
For me it was only a couple of days. Hope you get a good one
How come you and fabazy have stopped vlogging
I’ll be back soon Paul
@@DanMTomo good drills
Hey Dan what’s your best record on 2K running?
That’s a good question, 2k is not something I’ve ran for time before. I may do it soon and put it in a video 👊🏻
Yes laaadddddd!!
You and fabziy have a cook off
🤣🤣🤣 not a chance! I can put a pasta bake together but that’s as far as it goes. I would be up for a cooking lesson with @fabziy one day though!
what happens when you leave the army? do you have to move out right away?
Well when you decide to leave you have a year before your your actual end date so that’s plenty of time to find somewhere else to live but yes you would have to move out by your end date 👊🏻
@@DanMTomo oh ok, nice one 👍
If your married without children can you still get a military House? Jimmy 👍
Yes! I have no children 👊🏻
@@DanMTomo Thanks Dan the information was for my son who will be joining the parachute Regiment very soon. Jimmy 👍
how far is it from the army camp
About 500 metres
@@DanMTomo oh nice! Sorry Sir one last question. How much is living in a block and is it only applied for people that finished basic training
@@ianlagdamen7632 watch my next video! Yes I believe you don’t pay whilst in training
@@DanMTomo thanks and will do ! got my assessment at pirbright on 17th of March! Can’t wait to start this journey ❤️
@@ianlagdamen7632 Good luck!
Do gays also get houses once married?
Of course, the British Army is extremely diverse and everyone is treated equally regardless of their sexuality
@@DanMTomo cheers mate! I'm glad this is the case
