💗 Glad I found this! I want to send out a shoutout to my parents in heaven for sharing this era with me! Even though my parents had me late in their life I hold this music dear to my heart being shyly over age 50. 💗
Born in 1951, I heard his records played at our house regularly and saw him on variety shows, including his own. I to loved his voice, perhaps not the best and a little gravelly, but it was full of heart.
My goodness ,you’re really ,really old. Why, I’m a much younger person (born in ‘52) and I consider myself extremely fortunate to have lived in the same world as Jimmie Durante...as you must feel. I honestly feel sorry for those folks who have never taken the opportunity to really listen to the man. “Not the best...a little gravelly...but...full of heart”. You said it. I also thank technology for enabling us to enjoy this entertainer and more just like him. Now...I’m off to listen to him singing “inka-dinka-do”.
Jimmy sang straight from a beautiful heart and soul and that's what made him so great and unforgettable! What a gift he gave to us through his memorable performances!
2:34 who knew such a wholesome man could make such an unintentionally sinister face. Jokes aside this was a lovely life lesson in the form of a song performed by one of the greats!
The greatest treasure that you will ever find is to stay young at heart. For many years I thought that's how the song went.A good philosophy to live by, my personality shows it, I'm very immature for my age, by choice.
Listen to Tony Bennett and you'll hear traces of Jimmy Durante. Obviously, Bennett has a better voice in the traditional sense, but his phrasing with its emphasis on key syllables is sometimes much like that of Jimmy Durante.
One singer perfectly hits every note almost redefining the note sound, while the other sings so intensely soulful from deep chasms unlocked in the human heart, unlocking emotions yet unfound.
To the 4 who thumbed down this video. Your hearts have hardened!

I was born in 1949 and it seems he was on every variety show in the 50s and 60s...
I am a young-in...born in 1954....
Jimmy sang straight from a beautiful heart and soul and that's what made him so great and unforgettable! What a gift he gave to us through his memorable performances!

*It's All Coming Back To You.*
Jimmy durant que con su voz se apropió de cada ser que lo escuchaba
"Goodnight Mrs. Kalabash wherever you are"
He didn't need to have a good voice. The sheer message and sentiment was good enough.
