I've got my great grandfathers Mauser Pocket Pistol 1914 series. I believe it was made in 1919 or 1920 from the serial number. 25 ACP and it looks like a normal current day for the most part.
The Model 95 Nagant revolver had a brass case that inserted into the front of the barrel when the barrel moved forward, thus sealing the round to the barrel. A design feature originally done to maximize efficiency of the powder to give the round max velocity.
