Mercator Talk on the portrait series exhibition "I am not a victim. I am a survivor"

Human rights activist and photographer Oleksandra Bienert portrayed Ukrainian women shortly after they fled to Berlin. Her photo series "I am not a vicitim. I am a survivor" tells their stories, perspectives and dreams.
Many refugees experience having the different parts of their identifies taken from them: They are no longer seen as intellectuals, scholars, activists, artists, mothers, but as victims only. In her work, the photographer gives all of these layers back to her protagonists - but we'll let her speak for herself.
The exhibition is still open to the public at Mercator Centre Berlin until the end of May. Feel free to come by at any time during regular office hours.
