It seems that people think acapella and good acapella singers didn't exist until Pentatonix appeared and "saved" acapella. Just no. Comments like "the bass is so good, it sounds like Avi" gets on my nerves. There are THOUSANDS of amazing basses (here's one) and they're not famous and the fact that Avi is the "measure" irritates me. Excellent job, guys, it's very complicated to transcript something just listening to a studio version, something that a lot people commenting can't do. Kudos to you!
I get where you're coming from, but it does makes sense to use avi as a standard in this case because they are replicating a pentatonix cover. So the other guys comment is really nothing to get upset about.
@@sharkyblub686 They're not "replicating", it's just another cover. Covers of versions do exist. One doesn't go to a Bring Me To Life cover and says "really good, sounds like Amy". Covers are your own interpretation of a song or a version of a song. They don't have to be similar, or even more stupid, done it with the same pitch the original artist interpreted it. If they were doing an impression of PTX, that would be understandable.
Well, yes, there are amazing musicians and vocalists that never achieve fame and fortune. Not for lack of skill or talent, but opportunity and timing. But, it is also true that a capella bands were not mainstream. So many people have experienced and enjoyed a capella for the first time through Pentatonix. So those people dont have the exposure and frame of reference that you clearly have. People talk about what they know...consider welcoming them and using your knowledge to expose them to more of this world beyond PTX. Showering them with disdain for their ignorance only reinforces the stereotype that a capella is for nerdy rich kids. Essentially undoing the work PTX and other great bands like Home Free and Voctave have done to make it seem more accessible.

The girl who did mitch's G5 high note didn't do it as dramatic. She sang the G5 like she was singing opera.
