  • Halifax dump top flight Manchester City out of the FA Cup in the mud at the Shay. Paul Hendrie's goal is enough to send the Shaymen into the fourth round. At the other end of the pitch,'keeper Kilner is in great form to deny the City strikeforce. 12,599 fans attended the all ticket encounter - The Shay has not seen a crowd like it since.
    I hope the clips are presented in chronological order - I got myself in a right kerfuffle during the editing process. It was a nightmare getting the clip down to You Tube length! Oh, and thanks to the nice chap who lent me the original video.

    Proper cup tie, Big side struggling in the mud in January against a four division side. Lovely.

    I got murdered at school because of this game. Out in the 3rd round to Halifax??? It was like I was the only City fan in London so everyone was having a go. This one haunted me for years

    That pitch!!!! I remember the Daily Mail had a carton of Malcolm Allison going to the Halifax Building society and refusing him a morgage!!!

    Yes, on the full video you see groundstaff and volunteers removing all the water from the pitch prior to the game. Despite their efforts, it is amazing that the ref passed the game fit to play.

    Sure I read somewhere that when City’s old ground Hyde Road was demolished prior to moving to Maine Road in 1923, Halifax took some of the structures to the shay to build their own stands with it, not sure how true that is.

  • @MichaelMacer
    @MichaelMacer  Před 15 lety

    Wow, Joe Corrigan is your dad? Isn't he the goalkeeping coach at West Brom? The only other Man City game I've got is when they beat Halifax 3-0 in the nineties. Understandably, I'm not in a hurry to upload that to You Tube!

      Bet your not, ha ha... I'm a City fan but isn't this what makes the cup great? Just a pity managers these days would rather finish top four than win the FA Cup, only pep treats our domestic cups with any respect nowadays , probably why we keep winning them! .....
