OMG finally someone else comments on her writing skills compared to RAP. I’ve been saying this forever. Her wordplay is amazing. Like she was a rapper in her past life and God told her you can be an artist again. Anything but Rap. So she chose country, pop, folk/alternative, techno sounds(REP). She needs to do a Rock album. She does BARSS best example is “…Ready for it?”

I think I've seen your username on other TS reaction channels- am I correct? I really only started to listen to her album songs recently, -well except Folklore and Evermore, about a year ago, because I love that folk, alt.pop, country music. Well-one of my first concerts and favourite artists was Jewel, who Taylor has a very similar style to and vocal range. Now, I can't stop listening to her stuff literally all day.
Her diversity is crazy, and I know she used to rap during her Speak Now era right? That Eminem cover of "Lose yourself!"
There's a few reaction vids I've seen where the comparison to rap has been mentioned- like the pre-chorus in Dress, and "Ready for it". If you like watching reaction vids to Taylor

That is exactly the album concept. 13 nights that kept her up thinking about different things. I am so glad I haven't been the only one late to her really great songs.
There's some debate on who this song could be about but my money is on Taylor Lautner. He's one of the only exes she feels bad about, Midnight Rain has a similar apologetic tone as Back to December, and there's a Twilight reference.

I think she is talking about Taylor Lautner. It’s been a long time since he was in her life. She was chasing her OWN name (Taylor/Taylor). He was like sunshine, she broke it off and the references to December (peppermint candy, etc - she wrote Back to December about him).
