Daltrey never gave less than 1,000%. One of Rock's true giants. And he can still belt out that scream to this day, as he did a few years ago at the Hard Rock in Reno.
I was fortunate to catch The 'Oo many times in their 70s prime, even with Moon. Never less than thrilling.

Everything that Pete does on the guitar in this live version is absolutely beautiful. Pushing his guitar to the forefront of The Who's sound, the deliberate rhythmic stopping and starting, along with his tone, and brilliant chord phrasings drive this version of Won't Get Fooled Again. Truly a guitar hero.

I absolutely love the fact that Steve White, the drummer, is actually using a red sparkle Premiere drum set, just like Keith Moon had in the early days!! Fucking awesome!
If you Google 'the photo of Keith behind his drum set on March 2nd 1967', I drew a picture of him playing that set, on that day, with gel ink and colored pencil. It turned out perfect!!! You could feel Keith's spirit coming through to Steve after the keyboard break.
    Great performance!
    The whole band kicked ass!
I'm actually reading the book, A tribute to Keith Moon, and have arrived at the part of the book that mentioned this performance at this concert.

It's hard to believe that The Who is still using the same tape of Pete's Synthesizer that he recorded back in 1971. His Audio Tech said in an interview that if the tape machine stopped working, or broke down, sometimes one of the guys would throw stuff at him like it was his fault.... I really dig it if it's true to today. I mean even when Pete changes the way he plays the song on guitar, the synth still sounds the same. At any rate, I love the song, any of the ways Pete plays it.....

Someone commented on the Live Aid version of this that they were disappointed that the Guy on Keyboards wasn't playing that part live, but I would have thought that it would be nigh on humanly impossible to keep that up all the way through the whole 8 minutes whatever. It is a huge part of the song and has to be played exactly right for the song to work:-)
