I heard Angus give an interview talking about playing Malcolm's guitar and he said it was difficult to play because Mal used super heavy gauge strings, like his High E was a .13 or .14 and the low E was .56 or something super heavy like that ! And they both(Angus and Malcolm used Fender Extra Heavy Picks ! So all that added to Malcolms sound and tone too !

Not like Malcolm needed to bend strings...why not go super heavy!

Why was it plugged into a mesa boogie amp and not a marshall head and cabinet, unless it's plugged into a loud marshall it won't sound anywhere near to malcolms original tone or sound, liked the info on the specs of the beast though

We totally get where you're coming from. On our end just came down to access. Might get my hands on a JCM 800 soon.... so perhaps we can plug the ol' Beast into that and follow your advice!

Cool video, I’m sitting here drooling, and I’m sorry for being that guy, but:
The top is maple, not spruce, and the tailpiece is a ‘60s Jet Burns vibrato (without the bar), Gretsch partnered with Burns and used that vibrato on most of their models at the time. Oh, and it’s still regarded as a solidbody.
If it were to be a proper copy, it should’ve had Filter'Trons and a wound pure nickel G. Solodallas made copies of Malcolm’s bucker, so if you’re searching for his sound, it’s probably a better choice.

I know Mal used 12-56 wound g strings, but what strings are in this guitar ? Looks like 10-46 strings though…

      It's a TV Jones POWER'TRON!

@@surpriseitsaguitar It’s actually sad that Gretsch put a Powertron on Mal’s signature guitar, while Malcolm used a Gretsch Filtertron ( I think it’s a vintage Filtertron )

Love how he laughed about acdc only using abcd chords. Then plays like an absolute chump. And why is he giving lessons. 😂😂😂😂😂😂 amazing

Love the use of the word "chump" here. I won't disagree. :) gotta take all constructive criticism. Hope our love for acdc comes across... No laughing from us at the young brothers' amazing band.
