- Blistering heat doesn't stop a true slow pitch jigging angler from dropping his jig and touching bottom. With perfect vertical conditions, often times the end justifies the means. And thats the reality for all anglers here in sunny South Florida venturing out into the open water on the cusp of summers arrival.
The JohnnyJigs Crew were invited to join their good friend Chris Huff and his daughter Morgan on a highly sought after fishing trip to the Renowned Dry Tortugas, home of Fort Jefferson, 70 miles west of Key West.
Johnny, was accompanied by his Partner Will Crane, Pro Staff leader Adam Euri and Production Director Devin Butterfield. Together, they made their way to the Florida Keys where Chris and Morgan awaited their arrival.
5am. on the dot, everyone gathered at the dock to board the boat and set sail. Just a few hours later, the sun was up, lines were tight, and the offshore fishing adventure truly began. Hooking up on Mahi Mahi to kick start the day, and ending with a cooler full of delicious deep sea delights such as Yellow Eyed Snapper, Scamp Grouper, Almaco Jack, Red Porgi and more.. this is an action packed slow pitch jigging trip through the Dry Tortugas that you dont want to miss.
Whether your a seasoned angler, or just getting into the world of jigging, this video is a treat for all slow pitch jigging enthusiasts alike.

I’m heading out on the American Hunter to the Dry Tortugas July 15. Can’t wait to drop some Johnny Jigs and see what I can bring up for the dinner table. Will definitely have my UFO Guava and my Torpedo All Glow handy after watching how well it worked for you guys.

Great man. Chris is the son of my high school buddy Mike. Im a filmmaker in Denver from Key Largo. Im about to do a doc on Mike Medina Carp Man. Do you mind letting me know what camera you used since I will shoot it on my Canon R6. I miss this action in Denver. Thanks man.
Your canon R6 should do just fine. Currently using a Sony Alpha A6500 equipped with a Sony g master 18-105 lens. Combined they get the job done so we won’t be upgrading until absolutely necessary. We also use GoPro 9/ 10 / 12 and a DJI mini 3. Also occasionally use the iPhone 14 max pro 💪 - Butters
