    Tried tying a few snakes for the first time at the weekend. I like your method! Straightforward with no unnecessary fuss! I added some bars to mine with a black marker pen and was rewarded with a 7lb 8oz rainbow (a new PB) from the bank at Grafham, when most anglers drew a blank. Nice one Tim!

      Love hearing this kinda stuff ! Excellent , yep keep it simple and easy is key . These patterns are so effective because of their movement . Too much dressing inhibits this and the fly wont fish as well . Love those Grafham Rainbows ! Bet it pulled like a train !

    Like that one Tim, I’ve tied the more awkward dressings and they definitely catch fish, but I’ll now be tying it your way, it certainly looks a lot easier and will save me some time at the vice. Thanks for the video, let’s hope we’ll all get out to wet a line this season, look after yourself and stay safe.
    Where have I heard that before. Regards Jim

    Cool fly, but will it not ride upside down with the eyes on top of the hook??

      No , the buoyancy from the rabbit Zonker keeps it up right . These chain eyes arnt particularly heavy

    Hi Tim thanks for all the fly tying videos, how do you choose between the 70 and 140 tying thread when tying a fly.

    • @timjoyceflyfishing-essex6769
      @timjoyceflyfishing-essex6769  Před 3 lety

      Thanks for watching . The type of fly and size determines the denier of the thread . Smaller flies or slimmer flies where I want less bulk I opt for the thinner 70 and larger lures where I require more strength or buzzers where I want to build a body taper quickly I use the thicker 140

    The eyes on top of hooks will fish the fly upside down

      No the buoyance of the rabbit counter acts the eyes . The eyes are only bead chain and have very very little weight .

    Do you use this snake at Hanningfield in the Autumn?

    • @timjoyceflyfishing-essex6769
      @timjoyceflyfishing-essex6769  Před 3 lety

      I use them at Grafham and Rutland a lot in the autumn , superb for fry feeders . Fished slow figure eight on a floater or a steady roly poly on and intermediate or sinker .
      I don't fish Hanningfield any more as they don't support fly anglers preferring to serve the bait fishers instead . Shame it was the best fly water in the country at one time but management got greedy . Thanks for watching .

      @@timjoyceflyfishing-essex6769 Thanks for the reply. I fully agree about Hanningfield protein processing factory but cannot resist a trip or two wading in the Autumn. Just found your CZcams channel and enjoyed it very much. Never too old or fishing for too many years to stop learning. Keep up the good work.
