  • 💬In this video I take a comprehensive look at the new Leitz phone 1 from Leica. While comparing the specs and usability to my go-to camera, the Leica M10, I will go over my full impressions from using the Leitz phone 1 for a full week. I hope you enjoy the video!

I love how this has that classic Nokia design language. Looks like a modern Lumia 1020. 😍 Really appreciate the captions and your detailed analysis of the camera system with gorgeous sample photos and comparison against a high level Leica camera. This was worth every second sir.

Only if HMD make the Nokia comeback with their classic design and improved, instead of just following the Chinese phone market. Take my money!

Would be best if Leica decide to make case with shutter button, they know who they aim for and it would be much more easy to have shutter button like Sony phone.

Best photographic review of a camera phone I have ever watched, thank you Toba 🤝 I adore the good taste with which you edited the photos, yummy blues : D I was wondering if they could do macro with a small lens in such a big sensor and you confirm my suspicion: it's difficult. Peruvian greetings.

I got the Sharp Aquos R6. It takes exactly the same pictures as the Leica Leitz phone 1. The only difference is that it lacks the Leica Leitz phone 1 monochrome mode and it has 128GB of storage instead of 256GB found on the Leica Leitz phone 1. The reason why I got the Sharp Aquos R6 is because it's cheaper and it's exactly the same phone as the Leica Leitz phone 1. The phone takes really good pictures but sadly the camera post process and algorithm software is nowhere as good as major brands in the market. The shutter speed is pretty slow too but performance wise, the phone is very fast and snappy...

Great test ... little too fast jumping between shots. it would be great if you attach in video 1,5s. side by side shots. Viewer can pause and take a close look as long as necessary. But... overall great test. This phone is actually great evidence that we need curved sensors in smartphone (borders are dramatically out of focus)

I wonder why it is exclusive only to Japan. Also, I checked with the suggested shop. Phone has a clause of limited 2 year upgrade and thereafter, the shop confirms that there will be no more upgrade - might render the phone to be use - less. Also, I asked about the charger, the reply was "no have". :O A good potential if those are addressed...but thanks for sharing.

It’s a nice product but I kind of agree with them for not bothering with the West. Just look at how the lumix cm-1 failed to sell and then they had to discontinue it.

Keep into account that it is a 19/1.9 lens on a large sensor, so it natural that only the centre of the frame is in focus at short distances and the rest is blurry!!!!

Thanks for a good comparison. It could be better however if you weren't quite so rushed in zooming in and out of the comparison images. We need more time to take them in. So, for street photography it's probably a nonstarter cos of the poor focusing speed but for more considered stuff it seems really good. In typical Leica fashion however the price is silly high.

These cellphones are made for their fan base, which in some cases are collectors and not necessarily photographers. I don't say it in a pejorative way, as I got my Sharp Sh-06D cellphone, the evangelion edition he he.

Unfortunately, the current Japanese technology is very unreliable, this applies to IGZO screens, constantly buggy cameras that cause a lot of trouble and at the same time, Japanese technic is many times more expensive
