- An action packed morning fishing a Whopper Plopper for spillway muskie and pike, as well as a couple bonus smallmouth bass! The muskie were active on this trip and crushing topwater! Big thanks to @JaggedToothTackle for being my net/camera man half the morning, even after I muskie slapped him!

Ha! So true. The burden of being a fisherman in these excessive modern times! Occasionally I do go out with a small handful of lures and one rod and it's a great feeling. Even though it's kind of like leaving the house without your cell phone, keys, wallet and clothes all at the same time!
lol When I go kayak fishing I have at least 2- 3600 Plano boxes. Yesterday I had those and red worms and night crawlers because last time I wish I had brought worms. They all paid off

The best catch was your friend getting your lure!! I lost the top 3 or 4 sections of my fishing pole once in a huge reservoir…my uncle put on a treble hook and a lead weight and actually managed to get it back off the bottom somehow!! That was 25+ years ago, I’ll never forget it. 1 in a million cast!!

Looking at the damage on each of those muskies you can tell there's competition for the spots and catches.
Was wondering if they were nesting / breeding after seeing all the tattered tails and damage myself.
Those were spawn wounds, they get pretty aggressive with their mates. We had a late spring this year, usually by mid summer they’re starting to heal up.

Yes he was & anytime you can get a lure that cost that much back it's a good day . if i were Jacob i would have taken matt up on the use of his back up Whopper Plopper !!! . Hey also sore ankles would be worth it to nail the Muskies Matt was catching. I would be buying Jacob a cold beer for that retrieve for sure.

I'm always so envious of your skills, there's a Muskee that i've been trying to catch at a nearby lake for years that I call "The Lake Legend" and it is! its huge with a blind or whited eye. Even though i've only had a 30 second fight with it hes the coolest Muskee I know. Im just envious on how easy you make it seem!

I've caught 2 Muskie in like 30 years and had a few on and broke off. You all are amazing. I would like to just do a tour of US spillways screw the 100k boat and 6 dollar a gallon gas. Fish on men
Sam, I think all you need to do is to go to Minnesota where they are & as i found out the one time i did get out there it's such a great fishery there's no need to travel the States to find out some of the best fishing is in that area. We have Tiger Muskie here in MD but it's pretty rare to catch them . I've only caught one & it was in Triadelphia Reservoir . Fish on !!!

I grabbed them today and they look awesome! I’m sure the fish will hammer them! I’ll probably hold onto them until late August-September when the smallie topwater bite is hot and spend a day trying them out on the river.
Muskie fisherman I know here in Kentucky that fish one of the best Muskie lakes in the country they say go days without even raising one, and you catch multiple everything you go. Crazy! Great video man, that spillway is loaded!

Took out the ploppers last night for some smallmouth action here in pa and boy was it a blast.
That exact lure and color has been killing it this year for me in Iowa for musky and bass.

That looks like a pretty sweet place to fish. I only have one spillway within a reasonable driving distance (less than an hour), and it's probably half that size. Very overfished though, there's always a crowd there, especially at any time I'd get to fish it, like a weekend.
