Going to strongly disagree sorry. I've worked out how much I get paid per task at my job (number of tasks per hour completed divided by hourly rate) and it is depressing. Especially if you then work out how many tasks you would need to do to pay for a single beer at the end of the day. You'll never want to work again, strongly advise you to NOT work this out.
@@legerdemain444 Funny how different brains just do this stuff differently. I know a lot of people who would benefit from having a breakdown of task + clearly stated reward like a quest. But your experience is also very valid. I can see how that could be really depressing when you feel like or find out that your time isn't being rewarded the way it should be.
@@Kyosumari I guess it does depend on how you're wired and probably how difficult your job is. I've known quite a few people who work out their 'pay per task' and the original commenter is the first person I've ever know to be motivated by it, everyone else just got depressed. When I first worked out pay per task I was doing hay carting (basically lifting hay bales all day) and worked out that I had to pick up 40 bales which each depending on type weigh about 27-40kg (60-90lbs ish) for a single beer. I'm pretty sure if I asked the average person hey pick up 40 bales in summer heat, get dirty and itchy and I'll give you a single standard beer, they would tell me where I could go.
well, hardhat "is" mainly for falling objects, but also for if you are crouched down working on something then stand up and bash ur head on a pipe screw it wont kill u
You guys have helped me through poverty and depression. You've helped me forget, if even only for a moment, my growling stomach and poor self-esteem. Little by little I've built myself up and after a year of therapy and intense study, I can say I'm happier than I've ever been with an amazing job I look forward to every week. I couldn't have done it without the three of you! Thank you!
I think they have said that the pix are supposed to be available on the Discord or website or something. Though I have never looked it up, just google the topic myself usually.
Listen, as long as the "firelords" don't need some kind of "Avatar" to keep them from burning everything everywhere, it sounds like an alright scenario
As someone who has tried a few hololens headsets. They are actually pretty neat. That said their main selling point is to train people, since you can literally make a video game style thing where they actually need to walk around, to find stuff in a room, then interact with it using their hands. The graphics are kind of garbage compared to headsets that have an enclosed screen, so you're not missing out on much. As far as sound goes in VR headsets though? Top tier. No really I mean that.
I love this podcast so much, you guys should start having special guests where they are the players and all of you are the host, like special episodes you guys could bring on so many people like Tyler, Ethan, Sean!!
God I'd hate video games forever if this ever became a reality, but then again there are tons of life simulator games so maybe people are down with this idea.

This is the idea of a Hard Meritocracy. Where the work you do directly translates to the return. It's actually a somewhat ideal system, because it rewards the hardest working people with the most return. However, this only works if the system is maintained to A. Do so and B. Adequately reward the work. If your work isn't being rewarded adequately, you're less likely to work hard. If others are working less but being rewards just as much or more, you're less likely to work hard. It's a mess if the system isn't being maintained properly and unfortunately, much like communism, it's not really possible due to the nature of humans as unpredictable greedy things.
Don't bring Communism into this. We judge humans as inherently greedy beings as if Capitalism doesn't encourage if not require the most greed and manipulation in order to succeed. Besides, actual true Communism doesn't even have currency. Socialism does have currency, but not everyone gets the same check at the end of the day. I concede to State Bureaucratic Communism being the dumb version where everyone gets that check, but not Communism in general.
And of course to further complicate things, you'd have to calculate not only the amount and value of the work but also the relative effort a person puts into it if you want it to be fair to everyone. Competition for a standard of living really isn't a healthy model of society when we'd already have the technology and resources to provide for everyone... ...But as you said, the greedy human "nature" is a problem ("nature" in quotation marks since it's mostly because of generations of capitalist propaganda that it's still rooted so deep in so many people)
