Great to have you back! So much truth spoken there. Always been a fan of Traktor. Have used pretty much all the DJ software and never really understood the hate for Traktor, mainly by Pioneer fan boys, but Traktor has been rock solid for years and has (for me) had features that the other softwares still do not have.
I really do hope for new hardware that can utilise the new features with physical controls but will always go back to Traktor.

the software:hardware ratio is a delicate balance. if anyone thinks that hardware doesn't drive overall $ bottom line and general interest in software...think again . then, releasing new hardware that's compatible with competing software is a double-up win

The 4.0 was good enough for me to spend the $75. Now that I've used it, it's good enough to replace the other software I had to use.
Still a fan.
edited comments: The stems are good enough for effects use and song transitions - which was 90% of my gigs these days. Stems handling and the elastic beat grids are the main reason I left; now I can return.
Hardware: Agreed: I don't care about the gear. If you want to sell software - the build the ******* maps for the new equipment already on the market. I absolutely hate the S4, because of trivial things that are important to me. But I love a couple other newer decks. Map for them and myself (and some of the other gear heads) would be overjoyed to run TP4.

Did they fix the "Deck Lock" issue that plagued DVS users?
How well does the elastic beat grid actually work? I've seen the demo video put out by NI, looks like it would be difficult to use on a track with a live drummer.
And is the library still the same?

Here I am with the feedback on your video as promised. I’m not a DJ, but I’d love to become one. Even though I’m 57, I believe there’s no age limit for pursuing your passions, and music has been my passion and love since I was 5, keeping me young both outside and inside.

In 2023, I started to dive deeply into studying Traktor to get to know it thoroughly. I was impressed by the software when, in 2021, I saw a DJ friend perform at a cocktail bar here in town (I live in a small town in northern Italy). He mainly plays house music, not techno or similar stuff from the '90s.
What impressed me was that he used Traktor on his laptop along with the S8 (or S5, I don’t remember) controller, and he used 4 tracks simultaneously to do live remixes. I’m not sure if it was 4 tracks or 2 tracks and loops or other technical details, but I noticed he was always using the remix decks, which struck me a lot.
Then I became interested in Maschine MK3 and the possibility of making music, so I thought about focusing on Native Instruments' tools. But I believe this requires a more musical approach, and I know nothing about music.
Anyway, I started to approach Traktor in 2023 but had to pause because my mother (who is 82 and lives with me) had to undergo 2 surgeries in a year and a half. So for a long time, my priority has been her!
Now that she’s recovering, I’d like to get back to focusing on studying Traktor in depth as soon as I can. I also like the idea of STEMS, especially for some ideas I have about a cappella and various sounds to extract and use with other tracks.
I’m very happy that Traktor is making a comeback, and I fully agree with everything you say about DJ software and controllers! I also find it really stupid that rekordbox fans always have to criticize Traktor. They’re just tools; you use whatever you want, right?
I also think it’s “crazy” how often you have to change controllers, although I must admit that a new flagship controller that’s a hybrid between the S8 and S4 would attract me a lot.
At the moment, with my budget, I bought an S2, but I believe it’s more than enough for learning. Also, as I mentioned, my first priority now is my mother, though I want to start dedicating myself to studying Traktor well, step by step, calmly, and without stress or rush… I want to do things right.

Djay algorithm is killing both Serato and traktor! They just need to update their sampler
Congrats for the video !!! Personally I absolutely hate pioneer because digital sound which is totally different than analog mixers. I don’t use digital controllers. I prefer analog mixer with external DVS sound card and SL3 is one of the best in terms of quality because it’s a RANE , a muscle car of analog mixers since 80’s . SL3 sounds better than other interface like Traktor Audio 6,8,10 or the new Rellop flux. I tested the sound quality using a bigger audio system on the club with real vinyl and digital file also. All the mixers including a buit in sound card is not about top quality. I tested using Rane MP2015 vs Pioneers A9 vs Xone 92 mixers. In my opinion is very hard to take a clear and warm sound as analog A&H Xone 92 Limited Edition The winner is Xone 92 Ldt +SL3 by far. In terms of DVS software , Serato DJ is changed from the original Serato Scrach Live . SSL was developed by Rane with a brilliant sound quality. Please compare SSL vs Serato DJ and you will understand what i mean. Rekordbox is just a copy paste of Serato and very complicated layout design. You’ll be forced to use it only if you prefer CDJ. In terms of sound quality only Traktor 2 or 3 has the same quality compared with Serato Scratch Live. In conclusion , if the sound quality is your priority then you should go back to the old SSL or Traktor 2,3 using an analog mixer and external DVS interface . I did a very long test in order to have this opinion. This is a plus in case you want to play real vinyl also. Digital in this life is just for your comfort not for the top quality . All the controllers from the market is just for your comfort and not be compared with a stand alone analog mixer.
I totally disagree. Find ANYTHING today that can compete with the S8? If we were do do anything with new gear, I would say -- newer screens, more touch knobs and UI refresh and support for Tidal and better library management.
I think we agree, but the S8 came out too soon the public wasn't ready for it. They need to merge the s8 and the s4 and I think Traktor fans will be happy
@@DJKeo I’m not sure it’s entirely necessary. Most DJs are using hybrid sets. Me, I’m running a Denon Prime 4+, Traktor S8 and a X1 Mk3 and F1. I also running a MPC Studio and wrapping time with Ableton Link.
