Clean almonds are left in the center of the rows where they can dry faster and have a far less chance of developing mold or mildew. Pickup machines can pick up the nuts nearly twice as fast, and will create far less dust.

Shaikh Mullah-ud-Din .... You can't afford it. I bid on shipping containers of Almonds regularly. You guys are cheap and get crappy almonds because you can't afford good almonds. Sorry.
That's amazing. But with all that decent amount why it's not cheap? Almond needs to be cheap so low carb/gluten free almond bread can be affordable to everyone!
If you are talking about the harvester, it's actually cheaper than a boom shaker and 2 sweeper machines that you would need to do the equivalent work in the same amount of time; not to mention 3 times the labor costs.

That has driven the price down, year over year. It will take time, but it won't be long before more almond based products will rival and beat the prices of their conventional competitors. I've already seen almond milk priced cheaper than "real" milk in the stores in my area.
That not work in bigger trees
The harvester is designed for tighter spaced plantings of almonds which is now more common. However, the catching frame and canvas can be adapted to accommodate larger trees.
True, but most new orchards now have much denser plantings where the trees won't grow as big, as fast and are pulled out when they get too big. It is also preferred to start the graft on your trees just a bit higher to allow the "throat" of the wrap system to get underneath all the limbs effectively. The concept of using this machine is to change your orchard practices just a bit in order to get the benefit of completely eliminating sweeping. Remember, there were no roads when the first automobiles were made; we changed what they could drive on so that they could be used effectively.
