- As it has been on my bucket list for a little while I took the opportunity when it came to come down to Bari, seeing not only the beautiful town but also the stunning Stadio San Nicola. As Bari are going for back to back promotions there was a great vibe about the place, but could they keep their form up against lowly Benevento? Chickens vs Witches

Hope you enjoyed your visit! I wish Renzo Piano didn’t add the athletic track as you’d be much more close to the pitch, however the san Nicola is great and when it’s full it really creates an amazing atmosphere (like Bari-Genoa played in December)
unluckily when the previous owner went bankrupt, Bari got relegated in fourth division (even if it was in play-off zone of serie B) so i think it is physiological to lose some fans but now the team is regaining its popularity thanks to delaurentis(owner of Bari and Napoli) that also made a major renewal of the stadium replacing all seats, lights and soon the scoreboards and roof !

I loved it. The fans behind the goal were so loud! It was a lot of fun for me even if the game was a little ruined by the red cards. Totally agree with the athletic track just makes the pitch feel so far away and looked like it hadn’t been used for years for athletics. Hope to see Bari in Serie A next season! Forza Bari

Actually the stadium is under maintenance. They are working on scoreboard replacement and white panel that cover the stadium. Is a very big work that require much more time because the football season is running
The stadiun was meant to have something like 40k seats, but they added the athletic track to receive founding from the Italian olympic committee and so the capacity increased. Btw some years ago the team bankrupted and even played in the 4th tier (and the 4th tier of italian system is way worse than the English one) for a season
I was aware of the team going bankrupt and have been following the Serie C playoffs this season so I am quickly learning how crazy the lower leagues in Italy are

Bari used to actually be in serie a alot. They're not trafiditionally a team that bounces between serie C and serie B. The last 15/20 years have just been pretty poor. The stadium and it's location being of the reasons for that

How the hell can a club I never really heard of before have such an impressive stadium😮. Do they have good chances to go up the serie A? I dont know how Italian promotion system works….. all I see is that they are 3rd in serie B right now …..
Basically they were given it during the 1990 World Cup even though they were never likely to fill it very often. If they finish 14 points clear of 4th they will go up automatically otherwise they’ll have to play a playoff

HAHAHAHA I love u my friend thanks for sharing our stadium and colors, our team is always bouncing from Serie C to Serie A we r like the 3rd south italian team with most appearences in Serie A and in 2013-14 season our players played without being paid because we had almost bankrupt and they played with all their hearts and went to the play-offs and we almost got promoted but we got robbed in the semifinal and during this period the stadium was full sold out: it was the best season i have ever witnessed (I wasnt able to watch football during our Serie A ones)
