false, the latest modification of the F16 has a radar worse than the SU-30SM, also the MIG-31 and SU-35 detect a target with RCS 3 square meters at a distance of 400 kilometers, AWACS a50 at a distance of 1000 kilometers. Sorry to tell you but it are USA that have blocked other nations from donating training and F 16´s! I guess your media, sadly, again, have failed to inform you correctly. Nation's like Denmark, Belgium, The Netherlands and more have been open to talks about donating F 16´s. Biden and Biden alone have been the showstopper for this! We are very happy in Europe that Biden finally caved. We all know POOtin have nukes and we all know he can drop them if the pushes the button. But that are out of our control. If POOtin wanna erase himself and the entire Russian nation by dropping nukes it are his choice just as it were his choice to illegally and unprovoked attack a free independent democratic nation. Unfortunately the 5 or 6 new Russian speaking States will probably all have nukes and some will probably have evil, murderous dictators, like Stalin and Putin. Also Ukraine needs to work harder at eliminating corruption, and confiscation the assets of those convicted, for use in the war effort. Western countries need to agree to liquidate their overseas assets, and return the funds to Ukraine for use in the war effort. Ukraine will become a NATO member, but not a EU member, until it does a much better job at eliminating corruption. 🤔

The US military has said that its taking the Ukrainian pilots are learning how to fly the F16s in 4 months or less, some in 2 months. They will be coming once the support infrastructure is in place.

I have been asking the same question for more than one year. Holding back is pointless.
Ukraine needs the QF-16, this tech will solve many problems now rather than later.
The other advantage with F-16's is they will be able to fly NATO munitions. True Ukraine has modified some of their Soviet era aircraft to fly western munitions but I think they do not fully their functionality.
AGM-88 HARM anti-radar missiles for one which has to be preprogrammed on a Fulcrum. Not so on an F-16.

As far as I know, there are many former F-16 pilots who have volunteered to fly for Ukraine. The F-16 is more interesting for Ukraine because of its advanced weapon systems than dogfighting - that's why they want them = air defence (ballistic missiles, drones, etc.).

F-16 is not the world's best plane. It may not be the best plane available. It was built to function in a different doctrine than the Soviet/Ruzzian system. It has evolved into am capable jack-of-all-trades fighter that can beat just about anything Ruzzia can field. And it exists in numbers. Smaller countries who fly it as their front line fighter can help bring Ukrainian pilots along so that they can use it in a similar way. In the US Air Force it sometimes gets looked at almost as a CAS plane.

The answer is in a year. Coincidentally, this decision should have been taken a year ago in which case the answer would have been now.
15 of the 40 hours I have in a Cessna 150 were solo hours. That took me 6 months. When will the F-16s arrive? Better to ask when the pilots will complete training. When will the Ukrainian S300s be configured to NOT shoot the F-16s. When will communication with every soldier/unit with manpads be in sufficient timely communication to not shoot F-16s down? When will maintenance equipment and trained ground crews arrive? The more complex the system the more time required to do it right. TimeLines can be accelerated but not eliminated.
Ukraine have very skilled fighter pilots. It´s not like they need to learn what an aileron are. They need to be trained to the F 16´s as a type rating. I am sure their pilots are motivated to be trained in weekends as well. Let them eat and sleep in the sim for a month and then do the same in the air and they are good to go.

in ukraine there is not a single airfield for NATO standards, the f16 wheel will come off on the first landing. f16 in the best modification are not able to detect a target at a distance of 200 kilometers, they are worse than the SU-30SM. The MiG31 and Su-35 also see targets of this size at a distance of 400 kilometers. The Russians are armed with R37M missiles with a range of 300 kilometers. S400 long-range missiles with the ability to intercept targets beyond the horizon. It will be a funny show, soon you will see how the American trash will be destroyed.
@@user-yj1on3bf1v You make some points worth considering - except for the excessive estrogen of the last line. I was wondering if the fuel and connectors that the MIG-29s use were even compatible. Also the F-16s low air intakes mean the runways and taxi ways need to be kept squeaky clean to avoid ruining the engines. People tend to underestimate the pyramid of infrastructure that lays below most "technological wonders".

Unless the F-16 aircraft, flight & ground crews, ordinance mix, fighter base defences, intelligence networks, logistics, etc., are significantly superior, the plan will not have, nor be able to sustain the air superiority punch everyone is hoping for. The f 16 is quite good. I remember a few years ago the Indians mistaken one of their own mil mi 17 for an f 16 due to jamming and shot it down. Sent 17 Indian soldiers to their burning deaths
