- In the epic 1969 retelling of the Anne Boleyn story, Queen Catherine of Aragon's prayers are rudely interrupted by two party goers.
Except that one of them is a famous cameo... the very glamourous Elizabeth Taylor, whose husband, Richard Burton, was starring as King Henry VIII.
Apparently, she had gone for the starring role of Anne, but producers thought her a little too old (37 was only a year older than the REAL Anne???), but more likely the antics of the tempestuous Burton-Taylor marriage off camera would have been a nightmare to handle!! - Zábava
Bet alot of people didn't know she was in the film, looked good in the costume
They should have cast her, at least as Anne's mother?
She INSISTED on being included because she was jealous of Madamoiselle Bujold!
thank you so much for posting! do you also have the scene of her daughter liza todd in the movie?
I'm afraid not, there are no film scenes of her on Google image searches. Perhaps as she was an uncredited 12yr old at the time?
Elizabeth could have played Katherine of Aragon in this movie.
Yes, what a waste of a beautiful and talented actress.
Catherine of Aragon had blue eyes and red gold hair.
I can’t imagine anyone other than Irene Papas in that role
no... iconicn stars do NOU play second leads EVER....
Burton was hitting on Genevieve Bujold throughout filming. And poor Elizabeth was very jealous. So I don’t think that Liz would’ve been able to handle playing the old wife that got canned for Bujold’s young Anne.
Those earrings are unauthentic
I could see Henry falling for her if she looked like liz.
nobody looked like Liz for heaven's sake.
