  • A little-known gem just west of Las Vegas is Bonnie Springs Ranch - where you can walk the boards of an old western town, have a buffalo burger, ride the rails or a horse on the Old Spanish Trail, and then wrap up your day with a hangin’ in the town square. Make sure you do it soon though, because this unique attraction is soon to be a thing of the past.

    Thank you for this video. My dad took me there every chance he had. It's memories that I'll never forget. My heart hurts knowing that my old man will never be able to take his grandson there. People suck

    with all the land in NV they should have bought somewhere else, so sad ,they could have also incorporated the old and new together, but guess it's all about money . A beautiful historical place gone . I'm glad I got to see this video. thank you

    I remember going there in the early 60's. I lived in Vegas 73-78. I don't recognize anything in the city nowadays. Makes me sad. Thank you for the video.

      We appreciate you watching it - we made this a long time ago, literally just before Bonnie Springs closed. It's still kind of sitting out there with not a lot of construction (or at least not yet). I feel the same though, about not being able to recognize the city any more. It's so radically changed - and the growth has just been unbelievable.

    Bonnie Springs looks amazing! Im so sad that it’s closed now. What a piece of history with Old Nevada! With a duck pond, a train and peacocks! I love old towns like this so much and I’m bummed we never got to experience it. Thanks for sharing this so we can see what we might have ran into on that dark road a couple nights ago. 😊

      We too are so glad we captured it, as it was. We just drove by it yesterday, and talked about how much we missed going to the restaurant there for bison burgers.

    We took our kids there twice. The second time in 2008 or 9, I met Ms. Bonnie. She was using a walker to get around . We talked for a little while. Very nice lady. I remember her talking about her kids not being very interested in her ranch. Bonnie said she felt they were waiting to sell the place. She was sad about it. I thought it was just her talking until after she past. I have fond memories of that place with my kids. RIP Ms. Bonnie.

    Awww. Well, that certainly is a drag - and we can understand your nostalgia for Bonnie Springs. Years ago, I visited a haunt they had there at Halloween - and while it wasn't great, the potential was explosive; sorry that will never come to be. I was struck by what a hidden gem it was - much like a Knott's Berry Farm or Calico, but tucked away in the canyon there, kind of like Vegas' own little playground and secret. Thank you for sharing! - Rick & Nova

      We still rewatch this one now and then - and we are so glad we captured a bit of its nostalgia before it went away. We felt the same way as you did: sooo much potential, it could have been an amazing attraction!

    So glad we had the opportunity to visit Bonnie Springs. It really sad to know that it’s been shut down to put a housing development up in its place. Now, we left Vegas at the beginning of 2016. So I haven’t been back in that area since then. Have they already started construction on those housing units? I’m interested to know what the residents of Blue Diamond think about houses being built there

    Very sad to hear this news. I visited here back in 2012 and always wanted to go back (I Iive in England). The one and only time I rode a horse was here, a gentle old timer called "Edge". I wonder if he's still around

      Hi Dale. Do you have any idea what happened to the horses that used to be there? I'd love to know what happened to "Edge".
      Apparently he had been given this name because you had to edge him on a bit, as he liked to walk slowly lol.

    • @DaleMcKenzie
      @DaleMcKenzie  Před 3 měsíci

      @@battleshipoverland8677 I don't know what they did with the horses. I know they gave all the animals good homes from what we were told. Im sure that would include "Edge" I used to ride "Tombstone" when we went there. Very sad to see it all gone I wish they hadn't sold it for a housing project. 🙂

    This is so stupid..... those spirits are gonna be pissed. The construction workers won’t finish.... they will hear, see, and feel negative energy.....
