If the AFL truly wants to make a change or difference, they should consider not allowing Tarryn Thomas to play at all. Setting an example with him could send a clear message to future players that such behavior is not acceptable. Additionally, the AFL could consider banning the promotion of sports betting during the game and TV commercials. It's important to address issues like domestic abuse, which often have connections to drinking or gambling problems. The afl won’t do any of this though because they are too scared to

I think the AFL could refuse to register TT if a club (tries to) recruits him. The stance they took last week would seem very hollow if they allowed a serial offender to return as soon as 2025, which would mean he hasn't felt any pain for his sins because North is still fully paying him this year. I wouldn't even be surprised if the AFL quietly tells all the clubs that he is a no-go zone for the time being. It seems very wrong that North with its crap list pays a huge penalty by losing possibly its most talented player after having done everything possible for him, and another club benefits by picking him up for relatively little without any draft cost.

While domestic abuse is found across every social strata in Australia it is particularly prevalent in the indigenous communities. You can get AFL teams on mostly non-indigenous players linking arms in solidarity against domestic violence this will not impact on the deep cultural norms of the indigenous men. The indigenous leaders need to be making this type of stand against domestic violence before their community will take any notice.

The source of it is often alcoholism and drug addiction and misery that results. That problem is only getting worse and impacting people in certain demographics and regions. Country areas are having massive problems now regardless of race. I think honesty is needed but people want to educate instead of banning. Certainly in regional areas in WA there's been alcohol free towns. Social welfare by card instead of cash. All this meant parents not drunk and kids getting fed. Albanese govt stopped all these rulings put up by community leaders and we've suddenly had the issues of drunkeness, abuse, kids getting neglected all over again. Governments need to be involved in hard decisions and stop playing ideologies. There are so many good people around Australia who want to help communities with real solutions, but the ideologues care more about their ideas than solving a problem.

Nowadays we are getting both genders with severe addictions leading to behaviours and vulnerabilities that are horrible.
