- The Bosch TWK 8613 kettle makes a loud beep when it's started and when the water boils. After a year of using it I decided to eliminate the sound. I succeeded removing the sound-device in the kettle-base. A simple operation.

We were on the verge of throwing the kettle out as it was so annoying.
Like Jeff Atkinson I made a tool out of an old screwdriver with a grinder. Took me 10 minutes including making a tool.
2 Years of being worried about making tea while my wife or baby grandaughter were asleep - standing over the kettle to switch off the power to avoid the 2nd beep! - did it secretly - can't wait for my wife to boil the kettle next!
A brilliant fix - thank you
Geoff
So glad to see this!! I am driven mad by it, and have stopped making drinks at night for fear of waking the whole house. I have been meaning to break into the kettle base; now I will do it. Take note BOSCH guys!!!!
Thanks a lot, this helped me. I used a knife to get it open after getting the screws out.
You're supposed to hear a very distinctive clicking noise when you're trying to get it open, to any of you worrying that you're ripping it apart and breaking something.
In this video the guy rips off the beeping thing completely, but you don't really have to do that. It's divided into two parts, if the top part comes off the thing doesn't work. It goes off pretty easy. No need to use a lot of force.
When you're done, you simply click the top and bottom back together again. It's pretty straight forward.
Instead of killing this beep altogether, you can simply put one or two layers of masking or electric tape on top of the black buzzer, over its top hole, to muff that sound. I placed 2 layers to make it less annoying. You can try before closing to make sure it is good enough.
Also, when opening the bottom, know that there are fastening teeth all around the perimeter of the base and it takes lots of scraper/screwdriver pushing and bending to loosen it up, so careful not to break of damage the smoothness of the plastic.
This is good advice, electrical tape, of course. I wish I'd read that before I filled the hole with blu tack! Also, the tip about opening it is wise - that was the hardest bit for me.
We’ve had our Bosch kettle for about 10 years and I hate the very loud beep, especially when people are in bed. I will be putting a stop to that today. :)
Just what I needed, I am now beep-free. Thanks for taking the time to share
Vincent you're my hero. Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video (and risking your kettle in the process so that we can call do it safely :)
It’s amazing that there isn’t a combination of key presses to turn it off/on but I’m very thankful that you’ve shown us the way. Peace at last.!
Great tip - thank you so much. I do not know how you lasted a year. We only purchased the product 3 days ago. Never mind all sorted thanks to your tip. Bosch appliances are normally very well designed, but no one at Bosch thought about that beep first thing in the morning, or any time for that matter.
I loved this! Tank you! I am thinking of buying this kettle and the only thing that I was worried about was the beep! And now I know how to remove it! :D
Mr. Vincent. My personal heroes used to be people like John Lennon, Einstein, Ghandi and so on, but have just removed them all from my list and put yourself on top! Thank you for that tip -it's going to secure world peace one day! 🙏🏻
Fixed the same problem with Kambrook aks401. The difference is - all electronics is in the kettle's bottom. Thank you for the solution!!
You are my hero!!! Viva Denmark
Great Video! Just removed the beeper from my kettle too. It is another brand, but your video helped me to identify the piece which made the sound. Thank you very much ☀️
I love your English and your solution to the nightmare of my beeping kettle. Thanks.
Useful video. I've had one of these kettles for years and found the beeping so piercing I wear ear defenders when using it. My only issue with this video is that it speeds up during the most difficult task - prising the top off after removing the screws. I found the best tool for this was a sharp jack-knife.
Thanks for video Vincent. This kettle was about to be returned to the shop within an hour of getting it home because of that beep. Bought the 'spanner bit' the following day and the kettle was silenced within 10 minutes!
Incredible video! This makes the world a better place! Thank you so much! You did the world a favour! Thank you.
Just used this today. Took me about 15 minutes and that included making a tool out of an old screwdriver with a grinder! Many thanks.
I made one of those same as u
Thank you -I did this following your instructions and it worked like a charm! Thank you!
Thanks for taking the time to film this, very useful
Hi Vincent your English is excellent! Thanks for the video. 😄
😂 I can imagine your frustration- that beep would have annoyed me too .
Thanks for posting this video I now won’t be buying this kettle .
Great, userfriendly video. Extremely useful. Thanks Vincent!
Fantastic. Thank you so much. It has been driving me insane!
Thank you for the tip! Have considered throwing away the annoying kettle for a while but now I'll keep it. You really don't have to open it up fully to tear the buzzer out. It's quite easy to get it out once you pry the front open just a bit.
And you are still helping ....thank you SO MUCH 👏🏻
Wonderful! I did wonder why Bosch didn't include some way of disabling the buzzer in the kettles software. Another example of engineers not connecting with consumers when constructing new products?👍👍
my mornings are much better now. thanks!
Thank you so much! Our mornings will be more peaceful now.
Thank you. I was about to buy this kettle. Your English is very good.
Thank you. My partner will enjoy a pleasant surprise when she next boils the kettle.
Wow, thanks for the sharing. I am so satisfied with my new Bosch kettle, but this sound is so annoying, especially in the morning!!!
You sir are a hero, and whoever keep putting loud buzzers on peaceful products is the villain, cough, Bosch, also MWF.
I’d rather have a 10€ kettle that doesn’t try too hard than a premium one that can only “add value” by addding annoyances.
I no longer have to wake up to this hellish beep. Thank you Sir!
At 0.27 when you say "how annoying this sound"... I can see and feel your pain 😣😣😣. I have ordered one of these kettles & it's arriving tomorrow. I'll know how loud it is then. Thanks for the video. 🍀 🍀 🍀
Love it! "just snap it off" also by sticking a bit of blue tack or hot glue into the hole on top of the black buzzer that will also solve the issue :)
I used blue tack as it felt less 'destructive' than snapping the beeper off! Plus it maintains a small beep sound, which is how it should have been in the first place. Uri's comment below advises electrical tape over the top, which I think is an even better solution than glue or blu tack.
Tusind tak! Det tog ikke mange minutter at fikse, men lyden har irriteret mig i årevis!
Awesome!! SO happy to be able to sleep in when my partner makes tea in the morning! 😊 Thanks!
Thank you for the informative video! Your english is great.
Thanks for sharing this video! I have a similar Breville Kettle, and I'm going to try removing the annoying beep! Hope to find the spanner bit in Canada =)
Tusinde tak, du har lige reddet miljøet for en hel ny elkeddel på lossepladsen :)
We just purchased the kettle yesterday, and at at fists boiling we just knew that we had to do something about the beep-issue, or we would go nuts. I will try your suggestion.
How annoying is it to install a loud beep, when you press start! I mean, I know I just pressed it, I'm right there, and its me pressing it!
Hi,
great method.. I was all set to unsolder the beeper when I saw how small the solder connections were. Breaking it off was a much simpler method. I do wonder if Bosch ever test these kettles in real kitchens. The kettle is more than noisy enough that it does not need a beeper. Perhaps the beep was to conceal the sound of this kettle :-)
Wow, you are a superstar! Thanks for sharing. P.s your english is great👍👍
Thank you! Worked like a charm 👍
Just done it on our Brandt BO 1200ER. We'd been asking Brandt how to stop it for months but only got irrelevant machine written ? replies back - not be buying anything from them again. Thanks for giving me the confidence to do it!
Keith Thompson - Thanks for your input. It's still strange why somebody need a beep when boiling water.
Thank you, Henrik :) That assumable 440hz sound was so annoying.
That's not 440 hertz
Thanks for the information and help
Finally did it today. Thanks.
Many thanks for this....it worked!!!!
Thank you! That sound makes me crazy!
👍 Thanks for your reply. Nice to know that it's usefull 😺
thank you a thousand times!!!!!
Thank you. I just wish Bosch didn’t make these workarounds mandatory.
Great tip - thanks!
Thank you Herik!
Thanks for the video! May be you can give me an advice HOW TO OPEN the bottom of the kettle? I have to check the interior, it seems to me there is something loose in it.
This is probably one of my best videos I've watched on YT...."just snap it off!"
Brilliant. Thank you.
Thanks very much....I've de beeped mine... now I have peace
Thank you VERY MUCH)))
Works on Healthy Choice's digital glass kettle too. Time to relax with a beep-less cup of tea...
Haha, best video of youtube! (seriously... I hated the beep to and used this guide to fix it)
Красавчик. Сообразил как демонтировать динамик. Молодец
Thank you master 🎉
Thanks. I just did it!
THANK YOU!
It was great that you discovered this. Was there nothing else that would have had the same effect. Breaking it off was drastic, if it ever develops a fault you would not be able to get it fixed under Warranty
AMAZING 😂 thank you
Tak for hjælpen!
Thank you! 😉
I guess you could also add a resistor before the beep thing. But it would take a bit more effort. Thanks for the video. I am thinking about buying that kettle.
Hey! Your english is just great. :) thanks alot for this guide! Goodbye peepvoice :D
Cheers, a quiet cuppa at last. Bosch are you listening? At least include the option of turning off the beep on any of your noisy machines.
So pleased to find this vid! Really wanted to buy the kettle, but knew the loud beep mentioned in reviews would be an issue for me. What is the instruction at 1:24? to 'remove...(?) to make more space' I couldn't catch it! Thank you.
Thanks for your comment. I'm trying to say: "Remove Wire-plugs to get more space". When you succeed to separate the top and bottom of the base, there is a wire-plug that needs to be removed to fully separate. I hope that makes sense. :-)
Thank you
Genius and funny
Hero!!
Vincent, I successfully 'debeeped it and it worked well for months, but now it won't work at all...I don't suppose you can tell me why when you press the boil button, the 100° icon lights but then goes out when you take your finger off - the element seems to be dead!! Thanks in advance.
Tak for fin video. Hvorfor ventede jeg også så længe med at fjerne støjkilden? Nu kan man snige sig tidligt op og lave kaffe uden at vække resten af huset.
Hi. Great video! I've looked on eBay and Amazon for the screw bits. Seems to be various sizes. Does anyone know the exact size of the tip please? Thank you.
5 mm
(as mentioned here: czcams.com/video/szwq8PmLFBM/video.html&lc=z133cfrbsn2evpz4b04chndggqjstnrpy5s.1477232020267205)
Hi, great video, thank you. I am buying this kettle today as can’t find anything better on similar price and defo want one with temperature control as I don’t want to boil water everytime I make a cup of tea as it is both not good for water itself to be boiled multiple times and for making different teas like green tea and camomile tea which i love. If somebody could let me know how this screwdriver is called as I am buying this kettle today and want to buy that screwdriver to remove beeping element straight away. Please help
Hi Rafael, Thanks for your comment. It's called a Spanner Bit. You can buy it here: www.irwin.com/tools/fastener-drive/spanner-insert-bits , or google it.
Happy new year :-)
Спасибо!!!
Can you tell the diameter of the spanner bit ?
Thank you. What is the name/type of bit needed?
The bit is a "Spanner bit". I found a bit-set at a danish store: www.elextra.dk/details/H21547/prof-bitsaet-100-dele-i-plastkuffert
The screw is 5 mm.
Hello! My (bosch twk861) starts to leaking from the bottom. Do you know how I can stop it? Please help😓😓😓😓😓
Could just put a piece of electricians tape on top of the sounder. It'll make it a lot less loud.
Yes, but why do you need to hear a beep?
It notifies you that it's done boiling? An useful feature to have for some, putting a bit of tape over the sounder is a way of keeping that feature while dialing down the volume a few notches. EDIT: it's also not a destructive modification so it should let you keep your warranty.
You may have saved my marriage.
Is that a good thing? 🤔😂
What is the screwdriver you use and where do you find it?
Slotted Spanner Screwdriver. Try to google it :-)
Bosch TWK8611P work?
Another tip, to get a new one before the warranty is up bring it back and say 'hay my beep has gone' Lol
hi , i have the same model but recently it turns on but doesnt heat , may i know the reason please ?
I'm absolutely not a technician nor expert in kettles. But after some years of usage of the kettle, I experienced the same problem and thought that it was caused by bad contact between the kettle and the base. I tried to solve it by rubbing the round contact with the corner of a dry sponge (the green, hard part) on both the kettle and the base. And it helped! :-) If you try it, remember to disconnect the base from the outlet before touching.
But of course it could be another problem, and in that case, I can only suggest you to find a professional repairman.
I can’t believe they used those weird screws. I don’t have anything to remove them with! 😵💫
Ребят, а он точно будет работать без этой пищалки? Может её просто заглушить, а не удалять? Что-то опасаюсь..
But if you want to reduce the sound, you can stick tape on the beeper.
has anyone got a link or name of the bit for the screwdriver? all the bit sets i see dont have this pronged head. ive never seen that type before and this kettle is driving me mad - leave it to keep warm and the beep when you lift it off!!! - Who in a sane mind would design that on a kettle
Try to search: TILT screwdriver tool
couldnt find it with that, but did with 'tamper proof bit set' on ebay.. we call it a slotted spanner bit. :)
Yes, those are the ones! After that its an easy job. haha that beep is so annoying I feel you
I can't find this screwdriver ..
Found the right bits on Ebay now... look for 'SECURITY BIT SET' i.e. tamper-proof, and remember to unplug the kettle first 3KW ha-ha
I bet everyone who has broken the beeper off is so relieved. But I do wonder how you've managed all these years with kettles that clicked when you turned them on/off!. It must have drove you all mad.
The click is far less shrill and loud. It's a much more subtle noise that you can easily tune out.
А что производитель не сделал функцию отключения звука ?
