- I love what the team showcased around Node Wars in Ashes of Creation. It's great that the team is aiming to bring back the "massive" to MMOs and not only from a PVP perspective but across the entire game. This is one of the many reasons I'm excited about Ashes of Creation and thank goodness we're only a couple months away from the Alpha 2!!!!!
If you liked the video, smash that thumbs up and SUBSCRIBE!!! I've got a lot more Ashes content coming.
My noise gate was a little too high on this video so like 4 words got cut out unfortunately :(
Thanks for watching!! See you all next week!!

It would be cool if unoccupied/unkept nodes can be occupied by NPCs, maybe even develop into monster cities that need to be destroyed before you can build it back into a regular node. This could also happen if you lose too many monster sieges on your own node.
I really liked the video, you boiled down all the information from the showcase stream down to a digestible 15 minute video, well done!
I will say it definitely felt like you were reading a script the entire time and not talking to me or engaging with me as a viewer. I'm not sure if that was just the angle or camera, not seeing your eyes because of the glare on your glasses, or maybe no hands. Just my observation while watching, hope it helps you.
Looking forward to watching more Moonman vids and getting my hands on those Moonpills haha, loved the ad
Thanks for the feedback! I'm still working on tuning everything, so it helps me work on getting better with each video! Appreciate you watching and Moonpills coming soon haha :D
Great breakdown bro!
Appreciate it!! Love your username btw haha @thecopiumclinic
Personaly i am kinda lost with the complex mechanics like node wars, siege wars, clan wars, territory war what happen and when happen and everything around that topic. I know we are still in alpha phase and everything will take their way but maybe u should make a video with details explaining what happens in which situation Moonman! Also nice haircut but i prefer the previous one, was lit, sorry brother!
That's a great idea! I'll add it to my list of content ideas. I have another video already planned for next week but I think it'd be a good idea to go through the mechanics in the video after that one!!
Appreciate you watching! My hair had been like that for awhile haha, felt like changing it up :D It will be back soon enough!
It could get really scary to go outside in AoC if the following can happen...
You find yourself in a: Node Siege, Node War, and Guild War all at the same time.
... and the wife's mad as hell, cuz you won't stop playing that f*cking game! 🤣
A lot of AoC systems are almost certainly going to be manipulated. Castles, Metros: Have your own "extended" guild, siege them every month. That type of thing (hopefully I'm just being cynical)
Node wars: Imbalance. A big organized Node may just be in a constant state of war with various others, for the benefits. That in itself, is fine... but can easily lead to "bullying"
AoC is supposed to be Risk vs Reward, but there is the possibility, the mechanics can be manipulated to ensure Rewards, without Risk. Power begets Power: Get ahead, use those systems to stay ahead.
Best of luck Intrepid, I really am pulling for you.
Was a great monthly update. Several of the participants were able to share a lot of information and opinions regarding node wars afterwards.
I agree that there is a lot of opportunity for game system manipulation both with node wars and other systems. Luckily, there is going to be ample testing time to tune these systems and ensure there is opportunity to balance these systems accordingly.
I'm all for implementing a lot of risk vs. reward but they'll definitely want to make sure that they can minimize players being able to go too far overboard to create significant unfair advantages or enable certain groups of players to exert "too much" control.
I believe there will be some kind of cooldown for declaring war. Additionally, the resources required will surely scale with active citizen size.
I don't know why you'd cause a siege against your own guild as they are prohibitively expensive to declare and their purpose is to cause destruction.
@@PhurPher The cooldown was set to 24 hours for the showcase they did but I'd assume that is something they will change/balance throughout Alpha 2. I'm definitely interested to see how it plays out!
@@PhurPher if your goal to ensure no one could ever take your castle, or destroy your Metro. A fake war could accomplish this. Some of these guilds have 1000+ members.
The point is, if mechanics can be manipulated, they will be.
@@eternaldarkness3139 I believe as far as we know multiple nodes can declare siege on a particular node at the same time.
Additionally it's doubtful that the siege cooldown will apply to all nodes who wish to declare a siege, only the one that declared the siege.
Anyone can join to attack or defend a node basically, so there's no reason to exclude another node from declaring a siege whenever they want if they have not already done so.(to prevent spam and grief)
Intrepid obviously does not care about "fairness" in regards to sieges, so it's not like the siege cooldown exists to give them some kind of break so many nodes can't declare consecutively and overpower them. They can already do that initially since anyone can join in on one single siege.
Played MMORPGS approaching 25 years now, and the vocabulary used to describe systems in this game could not be more confusing. I thought a node was a location? Then you talk about how the node is going to attack something? I'm so confused.
node war is multiply types , each could lead to a different outcome like taking a part of that node territory temporarily and get all the gold and exp from it to your node , disable services in the losing node , taking the mayor ship of the node temporarily and there is another type that leads to destroying the node ...etc
u can just check the ahses wiki tbh
A node is effectively a player driven town or city and that town/city "owns" the surrounding territory. Towns or cities can go to war with each other. There are specific locations where these towns or cities can be created and there are 85 of these locations in the world. Hope this helps!
I hate that MMO's try to do this chaotic stupid massive pvp.
Just give me some arena style PVP like Warhammer AoR had and Vanilla WOW.
This will go the same way new world has.
*Everyone will be in Discord for Wars (or whatever in-game option Intrepid provides)*
*Anyone can relay information, including the Mayor. There is no reason at all to give a Field General a flying mount.*
I couldn't find the sponsor link to order my moon pills.
Going live later this week, stay tuned for the announcement video 😁
Nothing special, and def nothing new
What's the last mmo with a decent large scale non instanced pvp? New World had it but it was very linear all you earned was cheaper travel and pvp points
@@96Caleb96 Wow in pvp servers but not rlly anymore unless organaised, Aion for sure, ESO prob best large scale type atm...not counting LN prob because haven't done it in like 15 years, Throne and Liberty has it too
@@honoryhonraBut wow world PvP has very low impact, it's something you can do but the game still functions 100% without it, ultimately pointless in wow
@@mazmundie Yes, point was there are many other games with open pvp for long time now
