I just want to say Thank you! I really like the concept of this game but have always gotten frustrated when I tried to play it. Having a really thorough beginners guide like this is going to help me so much for the vanilla game. 👍
It's really refreshing to see a guide for beginners ignoring the "life and living" meta. Wasting time watching TV to get skills a beginner will never survive to use is a bug bear of mine. Like Rhadamant say's, get out there and learn to fight. The quicker you get comfy with combat the easier thing get! You will die a lot...everyone did!
And I vehemently stand by those words, spending one week gaining crafting skill XP won't help you at all if a few zombies overwhelm you, get good at slaying, then you can get building!
I agree! the VHS tapes make watching the TV 1st week dubious value even for experienced players as the XP stacks if you can read the book 1st! @@MrBentmonkey
Glad to see a series like this.. I love everything about this game and want to play it but my first few times I had issues with targeting and combat reliably hitting and killing zombies. For some reason it just didn't 'click' to me on how to get it done.
Depending on the server, you might be able to get the few other players on the server to sleep at same time, then time does pass, and if you are alone on server might be able to sleep to speed up time. Good for those starting with broken leg times lol.
While true, you alone cannot advance time while on a multiplayer server with multiple people, and that was my point. In any case this is not a tutorial for MP
I would like to add few tips from me, zombies sense your blood (it seems it isnt generally known) - if you are loosing blood they will try to get you. Pain, Exhaustion, general tiredness (and of course hunger, thirst or any wounds) are influencing your abiliy to fight zombies. Tested that myself a lot of times, you can see it clearly when you have weapon that usually kills zeds in two blows when you need three hits, than four hits, than five hits and so on... About weapons, pickaxes are strong weapons, very strong if you can deal with slower attack than for example baseball bat.
I might suggest two things to add to the 'must have objects' list, Rhad mentioned one of them himself: Can Opener and Generator Magazine. Genny is useless without the magazine to teach you how it works.
Knowing how to disengage a run from a bad fight when the odds are against is key, also securing a safe place to sleep, getting the first tired moodle really lowers your damage quite dramatically.

Obese, smoker, are one that start as penality but after training and not smoking they dissapear. U cant jog long and can get agitated fast but totally worth it for long plays.

I coincidentally started a new run at riverside today. All my other runs I started in Rosewood, and I gotta say, Riverside is very less populated. I was thinking the whole time „where are the zombies here?“. I looted the school and only fought a couple zs outside
Riverside and Rosewood has about the same amount of zombies, its just that people think of Rosewood's zombie population as higher due to the prison and military base, which isn't relevant if you stay within city limits and parts of Riverside is more densely occupied by zombies because its footprint is a bit smaller than in Rosewood, so Rosewood is usually the easier place to traverse as a result.

I like waiting till I have the books read and then just watching the tape later, there's other more important tasks to get done oftentimes.

@@anon_234 I think its a like if you can get to a tv to watch it early then fine but dont break your neck trying to do it.
