      Yes. They are already locally common in some areas of Athens

      Before some years they were popular as exotic pets in Athens. The first pairs were possibly intensionally released by hobbyists due to the fact that they are a very prolific breeder in captivity with no significant value in the market. Escapes may also have occurred.

      Outside of the US and Canada where it is illegal to keep them, they are common cage birds and are kept in Mexico which is the likely source for the European birds. There is apparently a population in Murcia Spain as well.
