@@richard6440 The United States have the NWSL (national women’s soccer league) which are club teams all around the country in various cities/states. Other countries do too, like Europe. Those club teams are different than the “national” team. The clubs do not compete with other countries, they compete against each other. For example, the Portland Thorns vs. North Carolina Courage. The USWNT (United States Womens National Team) competes with countries all around the world and complete in these tournaments like the SheBelieves Cup, The World Cup, The Olympics, etc. Players from NWSL clubs and college athletes are called into training camps for the USWNT. It’s a very selective and highly competitive team to be apart of. Hope this answered your question :)

@@LOVE..Sherelle I played keeper for many years, even back in the 90s, and every keeper has always known about the rule prohibiting premature forward movement by the keeper. Think about it, if it WASN'T a rule, then what would stop a keeper from just standing right in front of the penalty spot and making it impossible for the ball to even move forward an inch? So yeah, of course she knew.
But even in light of the extremeley lax enforcement of the rule back then, her movement does strike me as quite egregious. Although that is NOT to say that it should be considered cheating. Truth is, nearly every serious keeper would cheat forward a bit. It was considered bad form to NOT get in a little premature jump forward, as the Chinese keeper did in this match (to her disadvantage). It is up to the REF to draw that distinction between a customary forward hop just before the kick, and a giant leap way too long before the kick. The ref's decision is actually pretty shocking here. But Scurry made the intelligent, competitive play.

Hello it was before the rules were made for goalkeepers. So it’s better not to complain about goalkeepers in the past how they saved or not. The rules stared later! History is history and past is past! You can see how the rules have been changing by the time! See we have VAR now which wasn’t implemented before and there is different rules for goalkeepers as well. Things change by the time. So no complain for the past games but just appreciate it guys.

  •  Před 4 lety +5

Hey, I’m American but come on, our goalie cheated on all those PK’s she did the same thing which is clearly not allowed. Goalie can only move side to side on PK’s, can’t take a few steps forward and gain advantage like that, perfect example @2:10 mark she stepped ahead before the shot, it had to be retaken oh well

Unfortunately its standard practice these days. I would prefer to have pillar bars on the side and keep the original aspect ratio. Also when old video like this is stretched out, it tends to make the picture really grainy

Yes...I would love to see that game again. People are saying that it was "slaughter" and that the U.S was "beating" up the other team. Quite frankly, it would've been more disrespectful to Thailand if the U.S didn't play 100% the entire time. They were a new team and they will come back even better.

Alma Baltazar Iconic huh? They played a team that is less developed and far far behind them. Thailand's defense was absolutely horrible. Every usa player had years to pass and shoot and was just waiting in the box unmarked, but I guess this is your definition of iconic right. And honestly who couldn't put a ball past a goalie that is 140cm tall and scared to go for the ball🤭

    •  Před 4 lety +2

Playfulpanthress rules or not, it’s considered cheating, it defeats the purpose of a penalty kick. You’re getting confused with the old MLS rule that a GK can step up of his line to block a shot but a keeper has NEVER been allowed to take a few steps forward to block a penalty kick
