Such a wonderful musician. I often listen to her performance in Varanasi along with Ud Bismillah khan saheb and Pt Kisan Maharaj ji during Ganga Mahotsav. Such a wonderful combination of musicians that was. My pranam to Vidushi Rajam ji.
I am happy that she mentioned my Grandfather Legend Prof Parur A Sundaram Iyers name who started violin in Hindustani music in 1909 and was appointed as Professor of Hindustani music in Gandharva Mahavidyalaya by Great Pundit Vishnu digambar Paluskar. In fact in the year 1916 Sundaram Iyer was presented a Gold medal by Vishnu digambar Paluskar ji. Omkarnath Thakur stayed in our in Madras in 1940 for two months as he was my Grandfathers great friend
To those that assert 'if you know carnatic music well, you can play anything', here is an insightful comment by Dr. Rajam at 10:54 - 'even with the best of techniques from the south, I was not able to reproduce vocal rendering of Hindustani music the way it ought to have been done'...
Nobody said that happens automatically without a guru or without effort. MS Gopalakrishnan trained on and off in HM and played it spectacularly. He even accompanied Omkarnathji and Bade Ghulam Ali Khansaheb at a very young age. He did not learn Hindustani for years at least formally.
@@RVHello This Darbar video titled "If You Can Play Carnatic Music, You Can Play Anything | Akkarai Subhalakshmi | Music of India", almost goes there... Check czcams.com/video/NT1fVKXK5q8/video.html I have heard many a Carnatic musician that almost claim 'everything else is a side effect, a by-product of Carnatic music :( Apparently MSG learnt both systems of music from his father.
