Camping and exploring at Steep Rock Manitoba

  • Have you ever seen something that just doesn't feel like it's in the right place? Travelling to Steep Rock Manitoba kind of gives off those vibes. The colours of the water and the white of the limestone rock feel like it should be somewhere else......and yet here it is in Manitoba.
    Camping in our RV at the municipal campground of Steep Rock Beach & Park, allows you to be near the beach and the park, makes for easy access to the activities that are available. Camping is open to tents, trailers and RVs like Sprintervans to super RVs like 41 footers, although space is limited for the very large RVs.
    The beach is nice and sandy and on Lake Manitoba. The cliffs are just a 5km bike ride (or walk for some) away and you can also choose to take your vehicle. The cliffs are also a great place for kids to explore - but just watch your younger ones closely as the cliffs are high. And exploring the cliffs seems to bring out the child in some adults as well so go and have fun.
    And if you want to spend a nice evening kayaking, there are kayaks available at the boat launch area near the cliffs. When on the water it gives you a whole new perspective of the limestone cliffs.

    Beautiful! Looking forward to seeing your vlog as you travel west. We did that route to Kelowna in our RV and absolutely loved it. Not much campgrounds until you get past Calgary which really is hard to understand but we loved Bow Valley Provincial Park. Happy travels to you!

      Thanks Sheila! It has been a few years since we have gone west are looking forward to spending some time in the mountains. There are are some small campgrounds that we have stayed at in the past in Moose Jaw and in Swift Current. We will do some “mooch docking” as well!

      Interesting. We're going to be visiting good friends who just moved to Lake Country....and who also want to join the van RV community. Would you be able to give more details?

    Hello from Vancouver Island. We haven’t explored Steep Rock yet, but look forward to when we can. For now we’ll follow you, lol - and explore mainly the West Coast in our van too! 🚐

      Thanks for subscribing, and the note. 😁. We love Vancouver Island and that is our plan/hope for next year. But if you're ever in Manitoba and want more info you can always feel free to contact us? What kind of van do you have?

      Yeah, the vans are great. We started YouTubing in April. It's been a growth experience. Looking forward to spending an evening watching your videos this weekend.

      We have camped on Sunset and on Sunrise and I think our preference is Sunrise. That site had lots of afternoon shade!

    Beautiful! We just bought our first travel trailer and are hoping to go to Steep Rock this summer. We liked the site you were at. Which site was it?

    • @OnTheOffRamp
      @OnTheOffRamp  Před 2 lety +1

      Enjoy! We started with a tent - then tent trailer and then a trailer at a season site near Kenora. We have camped since the first year we were married! We were on Sunrise - not sure what number. Evening shade was great! Book early - it seems to be a popular campground. If you bring you bikes you can bike through the seasonal area to find a path and road that will take you to the town of Steep Rock and explore the cliffs. Thanks for watching!
