Avevo 15 anni, Brian Molko diventò il mio mito e lo è ancora oggi. Nonostante non sia mai stato un grande fan della sua musica, due giorni dopo questa apparizione a Sanremo comprai il CD. Stima totale.

Per me, l'incipit di ogni cosa. Una rivelazione, un rapimento totale del cuore e della mente. Grazie Brian. Non dimenticherò mai quella sera in cui tutto mi è divenuto molto più chiaro.

Definitely a great moment. I came here just to watch it again. Avevo 21 anni quando lo vidi in diretta con divertimento e soddisfazione.

Ci sembrava la reazione più adatta, a quel tempo. Eravamo scazzati perchè nessuno ci aveva detto come era il Festival. Ci sembrava di essere finiti in mezzo a una sciarada. A nessuno gliene fregava assolutamente niente di noi. Quando venne il nostro momento, c’erano in platea tutti questi vecchi grassi in giacca e cravatta, con le loro donne in abito da sera. Qualcosa ha fatto click nella mia testa ed è scattata una reazione primordiale. Vaffanculo tutta ’sta roba, mi sono detto; non dovrei nemmeno essere qua! La sola cosa che mi è rimasta impressa nella memoria era la gente che dallla sala mi gridava: “Pezzo di merda (BRIAN MOLKO)

Italians think really high of Sanremo, it's a storical music festival for Italy but, as an Italian, I really can't get why they want artists to lipsync. Asking an artist to lipsync is like an insult, and I'm so glad they reacted.

Più che essere avanti nelle canzoni erano avanti nei modi di fare che per il tempo e il luogo in cui si trovavano erano considerati "oltraggiosi"

Porco diavolo c'ero anch'io,fermarono pure il concerto con la scusa della sicurezza perchè eravamo troppo vicini al palco e ci fecero spostare...40 minuti di caos poi ricominciarono a suonare,fecero 2 pezzi e finì tutto.Suonarono cinque o sei canzoni in tutto.
A me i Placebo piacciono molto, ma questa reazione la posso solo attribuire al fatto che Brian fosse alterato. Tenuto i conti che non credo che i Placebo abbiano rifiutato il compenso.....

Fossi stato in loro sarei andato in mezzo a un pubblico di giovani a cantare e non a Sanremo con la generazione di quelli cresciuti con Claudio Villa.

well, the performance is legendary among hardcore fans. just look at how mad he is, it's hilarious. it's certainly not a good performance or representative of them as a band but it's memorable none the less.
Due anni dopo durante il tour italiano, molko intervistato a All Music raccontò cosa era successo. Nel pomeriggio durante le prove di scena, un produttore Rai gli disse che avrebbero suonato in Playback e che dovevano sbrigarsi a lasciare il palco. Molko infastidito da questa cosa, poi la sera dopo l'esibizione ha pensato bene in diretta di sfasciare quello che gli capitò davanti.
Anche ai Queen successe di dover fare il playback. Freddy fece una protesta molto più soft. quella della posizione del microfono lontana dalla bocca

Mi ricordo ;avevo 14 anni ero fan della band, ah quanto amavo esserlo !mi interfacciavo da pochi anni al rock le mie band preferite erano:the smashing pumpkins,nirvana,pixis e loro .Quella sera aspettavo con ansia la loro esibizione dopo la rottura della chitarra mio padre esclamò in dialetto"ma chist e tutt scem"ed io soghignando pensai "questo è un gran figo"forse ad oggi con il sennò di poi non mi stupirebbe questo gesto ,mi stupirebbe di piu che questo gruppo o altri accettassero di esibirsi ad un festival simile.
Italian television has always been a television for the elder audience, any attempt to make it younger, or at least clever, has failed, just like this one, the audience was just unable to understand.
By the way I'm not justifying the reaction at all, this has been such a display of ignorance and closed-mindedness we should still be ashamed of.
