- Atkins is the boss of one of the Pony Express relay stations. He has been causing trouble and is replaced with Cal Sheridan. Atkins now gets the Richard brothers to raid one of the relay stations and they kill Norma's father. Cal sees that the horse of one of the raiders has a broken shoe and Norma sets out to find that horse.

This just another Johnny Mack western with the familiar good guys v bad guys theme. I enjoyed watching. Good cast, and as always, good filmmakers who knew how to film difficult and lengthy outdoor scenes. Excellent horse riding chase scene filming. Some comments criticized the comic relief, but people should realize this movie was made 85 or so years ago. This humor was what was common and accepted and natural in those days. The 30's, and 40's of the 20th century were far different from today. I'm getting ready to watch another Johnny Mack show!
Johnny Mack Brown, what a hero, He was from Alabama, where he was a football hero. his nuckname is the Dithan Flash, guess he was a fabulose player!
Finally the truth from a Real Doctor saying “he’ll pull through if he doesn’t die from my treatment”!
The horse moved because he was trying to saddle from the wrong side. Some good foot tapping music in this one. This is one of those few movies when Charles King wasn't the bad guy.
I agree about the horse. I also saw that he didn't have a blanket on the horse's back. There was one when the girl saddled it. I wonder if the horse 'knew' this, and shied away for this reason, and the wrong side thing as well. Cool to see King in a nice guy role.

The Pony Express only lasted about a year and a half. The telegraph was quicker and cheaper.

I've been to camp Floyd many times and it sure had a lot more trees and mountains back in 1940 than it does today🤔.
But whoever wrote this script sure knew Utah.
I don't think ole Port would ever allow highway men into ruby valley, cuz he owned it!
Any crook, in reality would stay far away from Porter if they were halfway smart!

Fair movie but one thing, when they put a character in the movie that is beyond being a moron, stumbling around with a bucket on their head for 10 minutes, it just destroys the movie.
