- Hi! As the game is finally officially available, I've decided to share my own experience from the game from beginning to end.

Despite the game being officially available, it's best not to go on the internet if you don't want to get spoiled.

Check out Blastoise moving in the water. Somebody in the dev/animation team loves blastoise.

Decidueye... Look how they massacred my boy.
I was using a Blastoise in my playthrough and imagine the joy I felt when I clicked Hydro Pump and saw that my favorite Pokémon is finally using its cannons after 10 years.
However, I'm not sure what other moves trigger this though, since the other moves I had on it: Dragon Pulse and Ice Beam, were both shot from its forehead again.
(After further testing, the only other move I've observed Blastoise using its cannons for is Hydro Cannon)
Guess may only use them for Water type attacks
Well I guess they are exclusively water canons lol

My only headcanon for Blastoise not using canons for Ice Beam is the pipes would freeze over and become unusable afterwards? But that’s also applying physics to Pokemon

I prefer the old darkest lariat for incineroar over this new animation. It still works in gen 9, but the stance that incineroar got into in sun and moon was solid and, as a result, memorable for a move.
And this new animation kinda seems off with incineroar just spinning in that battle cry stance
Gen 9 has very boring attack animations in general.
They got rid of the dynamic animations.
It's not even a new animation. It's just the default one that ever other pokemon that has this move uses. Very unfortunate.

Blastoise finally shoots from its cannons, yey! Good, now give Delphox back its fire wand and both Decidueye their bows back.
And they ended up messing up Decidueye's Spirit Shackle. Fantastic.
I’m conflicted.
On one hand, Blastoise finally put its cannons to use.
On the other hand, Spiky Shield, Darkest Lariat, Sparkling Aria, Spirit Shackle, Snipe Shot, and Pyro Ball all lost unique animations.
Also Mystical Fire.

They gave Sceptile access to Shed Tail as an egg move

I've been seeing a terrible trend of starters getting their signature moves stolen in the next gen lately and where it is nice they keep the moves I like to call giga (blast burn frenzy plant and hydro cannon) it's universally shared by them not individually
Gen three got the worst treatment.
It's a shame Decidueye lost it's Spirit Shackle animation, the Sun and Moon one was badass
I wish that they would keep the animation.

Me: And look what it cost us... Decidueye, Cinderace, and Inteleon's awesome custom animations.
This was not a fair trade.
It doesn't evens top there. Many Legendaries have also lost their signature move animations, or they are severely scuffed.
In general this game have the worst animations since pokemon games became 3d
Out of curiosity, are there some moves that trigger Delphox’s wand animation or it was entirely removed? The reference sheet showed that Magical Fire actually came from the mouth while the wand was supposed to be used only for the initial circle, so this new animation might be deliberate, even though still simplified compared to the original concept.
Some moves trigger it. i think psychic does.

Shadow ball triggers it’s Wand I know it sucks that most of its animations lost it
I believe Venusaur has a special animation for Power Whip, like Blastoise with Hydro Pump.
Also, they kept Rillaboom's animation but took out Cinderace's and Intelleon's? Jeez, i'd say they played favorites with the competitive one of the trio, but they stripped Incineroar and his fellow Alolan starters of their animations too. Don't get me wrong, glad they finally gave Blastoise a proper animation for his water cannons, even if it's just Hydro Pump, but still, they can leave the animations in for the other mon's can't they?
At least Cinderace still kicks the fire ball and Inteleon shoots with its finger. My boy Decidueye though got denied the very essence of its move
The animations for some of them are still there, but for some reason they don't use those special animations for their signature moves
@noone12748 yeah, that's what I meant. Cinderace doesn't kick up a pebble and make it the Pyro ball, Intelleon doesn't get into position before shooting, incineroar doesn't give that snarling look before t-posing, the pokemon I mentioned in the op lost their animations.
Because Blastoise is more bankable, Kanto stans you know, so they gave him an animation as an excuse to their lazyness
If I had to guess (effort aside) the issue was the "cenimatic" moves not mixing well with live overworld battles in scarlet violet and PLA
A lot of these ended up being downgrades :( what happened to delphox's wand? They already gave it a subpar idle, taking away its wand is too much 😭 i noticed this with the other starter animations like decidueye also, you'd think theyd at least transfer over starter signature moves accurately
So they'll let Blastoise use his cannons for Hydro Pump, but wont let Venasaur use his flower for Solar Beam...
Its flower is used to charge energy from the Sun nah?
It uses its vines for Power Whip, though!
Feraligatr doesn't even use his tail for aqua tail 😭

I don't think it is a signature move. Some starters didn't have them and Torterra was one of them.
Torterra doesn’t have an actual signature. Woodhammer was on multiple mons in sinnoh and multiple mons outside of it.

@@brunocaruso6007 No, I’m not wrong. A move “heavily associated to one specific Pokémon” is not what makes a move a signature move. There is an actual list of signature moves, and most of what you listed are not on it.

Honestly I’m just very happy they fixed typhlosion character model by having the flame be continuous and not just ignite when it does an attack. It looked so plain without it.

Both decidueyes got their bows taken :( It's really disappointing in general how Legends Arceus had such great move animations all around then they just reverted to lifeless ones in SV

In PLA only two mons had headlong rush which are Torterra and Ursaluna so technically it's their sig move
@@rizachan8892 The same can be said of Wood Hammer. In DPPt only Torterra, Sudowoodo, Exeggutor, and the Snover-line learn this move
Sceptile’s leaf storm animation is underrated as hell
Really makes me wonder why the heck GF just doesn't reuse animations, especially since some of them have their animations in SwSh. Heck some of them HAVE the animation in SV, but for some reason not using them for the moves they were made for (Delphox with Mystical Fire for ex.)
How is wave crash for Empoleon a signature move or iconic? Its a brand new move that was just added this gen lmao
In PLA, which is released before SV, it was one of the only mons learning that move. The other being Basculeigon line. It's iconic for that reason.

Primarina's was so disappointing to find out about 😢 I don't understand either because it uses the singing pose for OTHER moves except the signature one..

Blastoise uses his cannons! But now it seems like Decidueye doesn't use his bow anymore. And some of the signature animations for future gens are just lackluster. Always 1 step forward, 2 steps back with GameFreak

Incineroar used to have a signature animation for darkest lariat, it wasn't the standard animation for other moves, it made the T-pose, now it used the anmation it would use for moves like flamethrower and just spins
I'm assuming the Hoenn starters Signature move for this video was chosen because of the animation. I always thought that Hoenn's signature moves for the starters were Leaf Blade, Blaze Kick, and Muddy Water. However the animation for those moves in this game is underwhelming so I can understand why the other moves were chosen instead

I actually don't mind the new animations for Snipe Shot and Pyro Ball. Fans were always complaining about the battles being too slow, so it's pretty hypocritical to complain about faster animations. There's no excuse for Spirit Shackle, though. And please put your legs together, Incineroar.

So sad that everyone gets cool new animations for their signature move but Decidueye gets to use flap wings for his signature move instead of the cool bow he usually used.
And Cinderace keeps using his head for the kicks-
But overall this is awesome.

So basically only Blastoise, Greninja and Rillaboom keep their special animations (Apart from the Paldea starters)
I know it’s not exclusive but Liquidation would be way better as a signature move for Feraligatr since it pairs perfectly with Sheer Force, just like Contrary Serperior’s Leaf Storm
Some of us Can Agree that Pyro Ball is one of (if not) the Best starter Signature Move

Wish Blaziken's Blaze Kick would get a buff so it either doesn't miss or does a bit more damage than flamethrower.
I know a lot got a bit downgraded, but I feel like the Water ones overall were lacking. (Wish Muddy Water got something other than a recolored Surf/Sludge Wave)And then there are some that just are gone like Mat Block, Court Change, and Skull Bash,
Chesnaught, Decidueye, Inceneroar, Primarina, and Cinderace animation moves looked better in their respective games.

I would put Iconic/ Signature STAB moves in each Starter Pokemon I like in their moveset even moves that aren't in this video

Razor shell is not fixed. In the anime the blades come out of the arms and samurott stands on hind legs .

Generation after generation, they disrespected Sparkling Aria more. In Gen 8, it didn't have the sparkling noise anymore and they gave it to Lapras. Now in Gen 9, Primarina doesn't even use her special animation

For me, it’s:

- Swampert (it was Sceptile for a long time until I nuzlocked Alpha Sapphire, in which Jeff the Swampert was the MVP)

- Serperior (BW2)
- Greninja
- Primarina
- Inteleon
- Samurott (Hisui)
- Skeledirge
Alot of these are stretches but hey good on ya
