FL5 Type R Wheel Fitment Guide

  • This is a Honda Civic Type R (FL5) Wheel and tire fitment guide. The goal of this guide is have a bunch of different fitments and wheel models in one place as reference for the viewer who is researching wheels and tires for their type R.
    All of the fitments shown here are supposed to not rub (I have not tested all these fitment so I am not 100% sure they do not rub). I did not go into suspension geometry and camber since that is another monster. Just keep in mind that lowering the Type R will add natural camber. Also for the more aggressive and lowered fitments the front pins can be removed to increase negative camber and be able to tuck in the wheel and reduce rubbing.

    Any idea is that lady setup on +38 running 275 tires would rub at a track?

    The offset on the FL5 wheel is important. Spacers or reduced offset increase scrub radius which will increase the understeer, reduce the braking stability and increases the steering effort. How much are you willing to sacrifice to impress your friends?

    why do some tires look like they have more side wall though they are the same tire size, just different offset?

      Its the compound. If its a R compound tire like a 200 thread ware the side walls are thicker and the tire itself will be wider as well when you compare it to a max performance summer tire (300 thread ware).

    Hey, that's our shop FL5 at 3:00. The wheels have a +38 offset, just wanted to correct you as you said +45

    Any with 18x10 or 18x10.5?

      Apex has a 18x10.5 et47. If you want to run this in a lowered FL5 with 285s and wider, you will need a lot of negative camber adjusted in.

      Yea i was looking at regamaster 18x10 +50 you can run a 275 tire but wanna see how they fit on a car with lowering springs. Thinking it would look similar to the last car in the video

    19’s are too big for any car, downsize to 18’s.

    They went backwards in their design. The 10th generation looks a billion time more better the the 11th gen.

      Eh, I guess if you mean that it’s a *return to form* . Then, yes, absolutely. The 10th and 9th gen Type Rs (FK2 and FK8) were wildly different to the Civic being put out and strayed very far from the beloved Type Rs like the EK9 and FD2.
