When it comes to Elton John, you can literally throw a dart at any of his songs and you'll pick a winner. I mean, I could name a bunch of hits, but what's the point? Almost everything Elton touches is pure gold.
My first CD ever, as a child, was an Elton John CD, i got lot of luck for that.
It’s true. I always thank my dad for introducing me to his music. I hope the newer generations still carry on his music.
Amen to that
Elton John IS gold. Truly no words.
When I was a little kid in the early 70s, my dad had a 69. El Camino with an 8 track player in it. This was my introduction to not just Elton John, but Elvin Bishop, Carol King, Paul McCartney and the Wings, and many, many others of the greatest decade of music in our history.
"Saturday night's alright for fighting", "Sorry seems to be the hardest word", "Crocodile rock", "Someone saved my life tonight", "Candle in the wind" (original version), "Honky cat", "Goodbye yellow brick road". You can't miss with any of them.
And Benny and the Jets!
And Daniel!
IMO, any song on the Honky Chateau album! ❤️❤️
@@abarton1978 Daniel was such a great song!
@@abarton1978 they did Bennie in January czcams.com/video/wXe-XXjX--U/video.html
True story alert: In early 2013, my 17 year old cat that I got when she was 2 was having health issues. In March of that year, I went to set my alarm before bed, and the part of this song "How wonderful life is while your in the world" played. I looked for my cat, and I found her deceased and still warm, under my bed. She is dearly missed, but I was blessed with my son 14 months later. God works in mysterious ways. Love you Jay and Amber. God Bless Everyone!
This song broke Elton in the US, and suddenly this record was on the radio, beautiful, masterful, and original. Good times!
I remember the magnetic attraction I felt every time this song came on the radio
Elton John and Bernie Taupin (his lyricist) are one of the worlds greatest songwriting teams. Great reaction.
Very true with a small proviso. Very few covers of their songs. It might be interesting to hear a musicologist analysing what makes their songs difficult or intimidating to cover by likes of Rod Stewart, Michael Bublé, and other great interpreters of songs
Not many covers of The Beatles songs either and those they did try failed dismally at it
Bernie Taupen deserves a lot of credit for writing this and many, many of Elton's songs. EJ is one of my all time favorite artists & he performs so many of these beautiful melodies perfectly. It's a beautiful song & I'm so glad you two like it. Music brings people together especially, sweet songs like this ❤️
He didn’t write the song. He wrote the lyrics.
Philadelphia Freedom!
It was Elton who 'clothed' Taupins words in music. Taupin could never have composed these songs. And he'd be the first to admit it.
@@desmondcoppin591 Bernie writes the lyrics & Elton writes the music. They're a dynamic duo!
@degsbabe This is true but no one can take away what these two do together.
"Somone saved my life tonight " is a wonderful, heartfelt ballard. You must take a listen to this gem. 🤎🤎🤎🖤🖤🖤
Sir Elton is so incredible and his voice with his piano just melts me. “ Sorry Seems to be The Hardest Word” is another masterpiece worth checking out. 🌺✌️
I went to an Elton John concert in 2018 and he sounds exactly the same. It's pretty crazy considering he's in his 70's.
@@brandondillman5841
I saw Sir Elton live during the 80’s and it was one of the great thrills of my life! 🌺
Yup.
Beautiful, beautiful song. His early stuff makes your jaw drop. But this man has been recording for almost SIXTY YEARS and his music still sounds awesome!!
"Tower of Babel" from Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy is my favorite Elton song of all time
@@MetalMcfly, yeah…….deep rabbit hole! Personal favorites are Mona Lisa’s and Mad Hatters, Border Song, and Levon, etc. So many to choose from over the decades.
@@pamcoyer9582 You’re the only people I’ve seen not just suggesting lemming picks. I was starting to wonder if I was the only one that bought the albums. The singles are nice but that’s not the meat
Still such a beautiful and meaningful song even after over 50 years!!! Bernie Taupin writes the wonderful lyrics, Elton adds the music. Such a great partnership for so many years. This song came out the same year me and my husband were married. So much has happened in our life together but this song is timeless.
He also wrote with Gary Osborn and Tim Rice starting in 1977 with Osborn and with Rice with the Lion King
This is one of my fav Elton John songs. The other is "Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me." He even did a duet of it with George Michael. Would love a reaction to it.
Yes! Watch the live version - it’s amazing!!
I had to sing a song in my English class as a child, i picked Sacrifice. But is really hard to pick one song from Elton.
Just ***( Epic )*** till the end of time .
Elton John and I are contemporaries. "Your Song" was his first hit single, and I couldn't get enough of it back in the early 70s. Surely one of the most beautiful popular songs.
I never realized this was his first hit. Wow
My fav 😊
It's amazing that this timeless classic was penned, music and lyrics, in about an hour or so at most. Bernie Taupin wrote the lyrics over breakfast, handed them off to Elton at the piano, went upstairs to have a shave, and by the time he was done, Elton had written the music from top to bottom. They knew the moment they wrote it that it was something special. The public certainly agreed, since it was their first major hit single (Top 10 in both the US and the UK in 1970 and 1971, respectively).
While the lyrics were definitely about the girl Bernie was seeing at the time, "Your Song" has grown to mean far more than that since then. It has become Elton's dedication to his fans. In the more than 4000 concerts Elton has performed in his career, there has barely been a show where he hasn't performed "Your Song". In fact, there's a fantastic video compilation of Elton performing it throughout the decades. It's well worth a watch, if only for the incredible array of costumes he's worn for his concerts.
That's crazy. I've always heard a lot of musicians say that they almost always write music before the lyrics. It's amazing that Taupin can write lyrics without even knowing how it's going to sound! Unless maybe he does have some idea? I'm not sure what his exact process is.
@@johnjsal generally speaking, Bernie has no idea what Elton is going to write. It wasn't until later on that Bernie had any sort of musical experience whatsoever. In fact, when they first started writing together, Bernie didn't even structure his lyrics with any sort of verse/chorus/etc. Elton would have to figure that out what the chorus was going to be himself, if there even was going to be a chorus! That's how you got such atypical structures like you hear in early songs like "Sixty Years On", "The Greatest Discovery", and "Tiny Dancer".
The "lyrics first" approach is unusual, though I've used it quite a bit myself, probably because I was so strongly influenced by Elton. From what I understand, Bernie just comes up with an idea and starts writing. For Elton, he says when he reads Taupin's lyrics, "a little movie plays in [his] mind", and out come the chords. Usually, if he doesn't get the music in an hour, he comes back to it later or abandons the lyric altogether.
It's worth noting that while lyrics usually came first with Bernie, Elton has written music first with other writers, and on occasion with Bernie. Two John/Taupin songs where the music came first are "Sorry Seems to Be the Hardest Word" and "Don't Go Breaking My Heart". Gary Osborne, with whom Elton wrote mainly during the period of 1978-82, wrote lyrics to Elton's music, often fleshing out lyrical ideas that Elton had come up with.
@@robdaviesprogm Great info, thanks!
Thank you for the clear explanation about the songs and team Elton John/Bernie Taupin! It's very fascinating how some artists can write songs. It's something magical they have in them, that, to our great joy, comes out into the world. Indeed, in interviews and articles I saw that many writers first have the main musical lines on which they write lyrics. It can be a real work in progress, as you can see in the video Queen - The making of “One Vision”. Sometimes it's pure luck. The melody for "You Win Again" came to Barry Gibb in a dream. And when The Doors only had a few lines to the music of "Peace Frog", they filled out the rest with lyrics from three poems previously written by Jim Morrison.
There's no bad Elton John song, but I'll keep pushing "I Guess That's Why They Call It The Blues" for a reaction. =)
It is a must.
If you walk up to Elton and say "Leather Jackets" he will reach into his pocket and give you your $8 back.
I only have to say that if he has a single regret to his recording career it’s that bubblegum pop he did with KiKi Dee, “Don’t go Breaking My Heart”
Not that the song is that terrible, (it is catchy as hell), but I personally believe it’s well beneath Sir Elton’s talents
Great song!
@@Willie_McBride Nah, it's the variety of tunes and styles that make a great artist standout over time and last through the ages. "Don't Go Breaking My Heart" fit well in the time and moment it was created. He has a ton of great duets and larger collaboration groups. =)
His best songs, “Daniel” “Don’t Let The Song Go Down On Me” “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road” “Rocket Man” “Honkey Cat” and “Saturday Night’s All Right For Fighting” The Bitch Is Back”. His first 5 years, 69-74 are nothing less than phenomenal. His music and a Bernie Taupin’s lyrics are unparalleled. His work in the 2nd half of the 70’s was unremarkable with some decent but not classic songs. He has sporadic hits in the 80’s & 90’s some of the excellent: “Empty Garden”, “I’m Still Standing”, “Club At The End of the Street” “I Guess That’s Why They Call It The Blues”.
For most of his early career, Elton contributed the music and the lyrics were written by Bernie Taupin. They were an incredible songwriting team, as Bernie's words were like poetry, but Elton always found a way to elevate them into something just heavenly.
"Empty Garden" was Elton's tribute to John Lennon, and is definitely worth a listen.
Yes!!!
Agreed. Totally underrated song
Was a beautiful song!
"Sorry seems to be the hardest word" Elton and his Piano.
I'm 63 years old and I was 12 when Elton broke through with this song. Great reaction, and, as you say Amber, this song is so very humble. Elton wrote the music to his songs and the lyrics were written by the wonderful Bernie Taupin who avoided the limelight. Beautiful, beautiful lyrics to this song which is now 52 years old. How many songs have stood the test of time over such a long period. Genius!!! Thanks again for a very beautiful and heartfelt reaction. Very best wishes from the UK. Take care.
This is Sir Elton’s first hit and the beautiful lyrics were written by his writing partner Bernie Taupin.
You should listen to the studio version to get the full effect of the song.
Listen all the way through, with no breaks for the entire effect.
Remember that it is rare for Elton to have ever written lyrics, so he's making you feel someone else's words. And o stage, Elton was one of the ultimate showmen. Liok up his costumes.
Bernie Taupin, lyricist.
"Empty Garden" by Elton was about losing one of his best friends...John Lennon.🙏🙏🙏❤❤❤
I sometimes have a hard time listening to 'Empty Garden'.
My favorite Elton John song
Hey guys,
Amber … You have no idea what this song means to me!! ☺️
It’s in my top 3 OF ALL TIMES!!
I almost stopped breathing when Jay paused it right before the most crucial lyric 😩
It’s like you read my mind when you told him to rewind it! 😁
Check out the recorded version. It’s pure perfection!
❤️🙏🏽
I felt the same way! I think my first response was, Oh Nooooo! That was followed by aargh! aargh! aargh! until Amber - thank you *so* much, Amber! - got Jay to rewind a bit to catch the full effect. Whew!
I so agree!!!!!!
This one brought me to tears, it was me and my wife's wedding song a long, long time ago. Macy's in Manhattan used to have a little recording booth where you could record your own "demo" and I made one, singing "Your Song" to her. We unfortunately parted ways a few years ago but the song still brings me back to that time and the simple message of how much I loved her.
Your reply has brought me to tears. Thank you for sharing.
This is the young Elton who burst on the scene with brilliant (mostly simple) songs. He wrote many great ones over the years, but for me...that "Elton John" album was the best, start to finish. Damn, 52 years ago! OMG I am old.
Right there with ya Eric! 59 here and was privileged to grow up with his music and see him in concert, with Billy Joel no less! We might be old but didn't we grow up with the greatest, kick ass music?!
It was Bernie Taupin who wrote the songs.
czcams.com/video/J39XajnpFV8/video.html sub if you mess with it! 🤌🏽
When I was a teenager this was my favorite song. When I got older I had a car and used to go to this bar called Bronzo's where all the Italians hung out. One Saturday night I had Elton John on the 8 track playing Saturday Night's All Right for Fighting. As I pulled into the parking lot all these guys were fighting and one guy is on my hood and another was thrown over something. This song was playing and it was ridiculous!
Amber hit it right on the head. This song was just a beautiful gift given to the world. I’ve heard this song for decades but it still gets me emotional every time I hear it. Great reaction. Thank you.
This song is a warm hug. I can't hear it without crying.
The reason this one is "broken down" as Jay has described it is because you're listening to a live performance. The studio version, which was released as the single, has a full string section behind him, which I suspect was replaced in this live performance by a synth. "Your Song" was his debut single when we first learned of him in 1970. A huge hit, and for my money, perhaps his best song. He had so many other great ones through the years, but I'm not sure there was ever one any better. If you ever want to just throw an album on and let it track, listen to his "Tumbleweed Connection" album. Just lay back and enjoy.
czcams.com/video/eEnBRoCZdUg/video.html
There's a live version done with a symphony that's gorgeous.
A great album indeed
Technically his debut single was a song called 'I've been loving you' in 1968 it just wasn't a hit. He had a few singles before this. Your Song was just his first hit song that finally got the worlds attention.
This was my parents wedding song….and my husband and I played it at our wedding too. A very special song
That's so cool that it was in both generations!
This was his first breakout hit! His melody with Bernie Taupins lyrics became the formula for very many great songs!
My first day in basic training was 52 years ago and along with my little transistor radio I set out to a open field all alone in the dark and I heard Elton John sing this song for the first time. I vivid memory that has obviously stayed with me for all these decades .
This was his first North American hit. 1970.
He probably had no idea how big his career was going to be. 50+ years later and he's a legend.
Well done, Sir Elton.❣
Love Elton John, I’m going to his concert next Saturday!!! So excited!
I had the pleasure of seeing him in concert several years ago, and was pleasantly surprised when I found out my seats, to the side of the stage, gave me the perfect alignment to watch his hands play the entire concert. It was amazing!!
This was Elton John's first his first hit, released in 1970. Loved it and still do! Thank you!
My favorite song by Elton; so simple and beautiful. I still remember when and where I was when I first heard it.
Sir Elton never disappoints. Yellow Brick Road one of my favourite albums.🌻
One of the greatest albums of all time!
I totally agree 100%. (Except for "Bennie And The Jets". Sorry, but I hate that song.
Bernie Taupin wrote some of the greatest lyrics ever. Married to Reg's music its exquisite
Emotions running for me. I was 11 and my parents decided to divorce. Such a long time ago, but when I hear this song it all comes back. Music is so powerful.
You can never go wrong when Elton and Bernie write a song. I hope you don't mind that I put it down in words. 🙂
His songs are timeless...his music just transcends generations and eras. He truly is Sir Elton, the greatest of all time. His partnership with Bernie Taupin(writer of the lyrics) has no equal!
Y'all need to do Tiny Dancer, imo his greatest song!!
They've already reacted to Tiny Dancer.
@@AzaleaLuna missed it
I sang this song to my wife in our wedding ceremony 32 years ago!!!!!!
I have only watched one reaction to an Elton song called TICKING. The reactors dubbed it a masterpiece and I completely agree.
It is quite long so I understand why people don't choose it but...you REALLY will be BLOWN AWAY by it!
(Off of his 1974 album CARIBOU).
I'm late to the game in learning about reaction videos, but I enjoy seeing younger people experiencing songs like this one for the first time. I've known this song for 50 years, but it still gets me when I take the time to reflect on the lyrics and how they apply to my life. Watching both of you hearing it for the first time reminds me of how amazing these songs are, how they withstand the test of time, and how they can still affect young people today. Please keep doing what you're doing.
My favorite song of Elton John. Every time I hear it I’m taken back to my youth. Sitting in the back seat of my parents car listening to “Your Song” on the radio. It brings a smile to my face every time.
"Your Song" was one of Sir Elton's biggest hits back in the 70s and still holds so much emotion today. Beautiful lyrics and heartfelt music. One of my favorites of his is "Blue Eyes" and "I Guess Thats Why They Call it the Blues" and, of course, "Daniel"
This is one of my favorite songs of Elton and Bernie’s. But I have to admit that I like the studio version a little better. You hear the piano stronger in it. If you get a chance, listen to that version. Thank you!
Fabulous singer/songwriter (Bernie Taupin was also the songwriter with him. I met them in 1974 in John Lennon Airport (Liverpool UK), my sister was leaving to Canada. I'll never forget meeting him then, & my brother (5 years older than me - I was 14 yrs old). We got his autograph and typically have lost it!! Elton is a genious!!! xx

HUGE shout out to Bernie Taupin for writing some of most sincere, beautiful lyrics ever and to Elton for composing one of the most stunning melodies ever. This is a perfect song. I highly recommend you listen to Funeral For A Friend / Love Lies Bleeding - EPIC and so cool. Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting is great for more of a rock vibe, and Don't Let the Sun Go Down On Me is fantastic and check out the live performance with George Michael too it's amazing!
This was Elton’s first hit and the start of many more to come, what a talented writer and singer! I also think you two are great by expanding your music knowledge
He never wrote a song bernie did
@@Andy-bl2oq Bernie wrote the lyrics then handed them to Elton to compose the music to the words. What legends they are to create countless masterpieces together.
Along with being my favorite Elton John song, this is actually my favorite all-time song. Absolutely beautiful. And, it is amazing that one Bernie handed him the words, it only took him like 20 minutes to write the music to it.
Just saw Elton on Sunday. Took my kids so they can appreciate his music. They loved the show. It’s his retirement tour. Can’t believe he’s 74.
As you are into Elton John and his great, heart-felt lyrics, you should react to some Neil Diamond. Amazing singer songwriter- some to get you stated "I am I said" "Play me" "Yesterday's Songs" "September morn" "Love on the Rocks (album version, not cut down video-promo version) "Longfellow Serenade" "Forever in Blue Jeans"
Don't forget that Bernie Taupin was (is?) Elton's main lyricist.
Elton John didn’t write lyrics…. Bernie Taupin did, Elton worked out the tunes.
Elton John has a very closed friend called John Lennon. When Lennon passed away Elton wrote a song for him. The song is Empty Garden. I recommend you to listen to this song. I got my favorite Elton's songs, watch this list: Sacrified, One, Circle of life and Can't you feel the love, both from Lion King, the cartoon movie, Club at the end of the street, Healing hands, Goodbye Yellow brick road, California freedom, i wanna Kiss the bride, Candle in the wind (a tribute to Marilyn Monroe), Crocodile rock, rocket man, Sorry seems to be the hardest word, Blue eyes.
I once read that this was Princess Diana's favorite Elton song. It's one of my favorites since I first heard it!!!💖💖💖
I've been an Elton John fan since I was literally about 10 years old. My favorite part of this song is the heartfelt conversational tone of the lyrics, where he says, "anyway, the thing is...." Just brilliant.
Bernie Taupin is the amazing lyricist behind Elton John's music. Elton did the music, Bernie, the lyrics. They collaborated for decades. Every time you hear a great Elton John song, remember there are two people to thank for that song.
Please react to "Burn Down The Mission" from the album Tumbleweed Connection. He bangs out the piano very intensely on that song. The whole album is great. I will have to break out all my Elton John albums. You're just scratching the surface with Sir Elton and Bernie.
Not always true, starting in 1977 he started writing with Gary Osborn (Blue Eyes) or in the 1990's with Tim Rice (The Lion King, Aida)
My thoughts EXACTLY!
Tumbleweed Connection is my favorite Elton John album.
EJ says that Burn Down The Mission was heavily influenced/inspired by Laura Nyro's amazing songs where she changes pace in the middle of a song, often multiple times, to great effect
@@gailjordan9170 Yes. Tumbleweed is my favorite! Followed by Madman Across the Water, that period of his career was spectacular!
one of the most authentic love songs ever written.
Five- six years ago, Elton played in San Francisco's golden gate park,at 10 o clock at night wife and I were sitting on our front stairs listening to this song from one block away, thanks!
You should really watch the movie " rocket man" it shows Bernie writing the song handing it to Elton and how quickly Elton could just sit down and put music to it. It's a great movie
You should listen to the duet Elton sings with George Michael. Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me. It's live and it's EPIC!!
THIS!!
fun fact: Elton John bought that white suit with the beautiful roses on it Nudie suit) second hand in LA. It originally belonged to Chris Etheridge of The Flying Burrito Brothers (country rock band). The suit had been stolen and was brought back to the store in LA where it was put on the rack and Elton bought it and took it with him to London do appear on this show, Top of the Pops. He also was in a photo shoot for Rocket Man's single which was put out in England. Years later the family of Chris Etheridge found the suit being auctioned off in England. (Elton did not know the suit had been stolen from the trunk of the car owned by the person who was caring for the band's suits). Nudie suits were popular with country artists back in the seventies.
So fun to see people of your generation discovering the music of my teen years. 😊
Now you need to listen to his song, "Candle in the Wind/Goodbye England's Rose" - which Bernie Taupin wrote especially for Diana's funeral. However, the original version of "Candle in the Wind" was written especially for Marilyn Monroe. Both versions were extremely touching tributes to two extraordinary women. Listening to both versions is a must.
A great live memory and performance
Makes me cry when I hear it as I lost two friends. One passed at 14ys old in 1977. The other was my childhood friend that played this song on the piano when we were kids. She passed in 2013. Love this song as it reminds me of both of them so much! That's the wonderful thing about music..❤️
Four years after this 1970 song, there was a radio hit with a similar message from Jim Croce, "I'll Have to Say I Love You in a Song."
Bernie Taupins lyrics, Elton's arrangements & piano, one of the most beautiful combination.
Early live Elton is some of the best. I love these live BBC shows from 1970 and 1971. You could literally pick any song from any one of them and you can't go wrong. Border Song, Madman Across the Water, Levon, Burn Down the Mission. The well is deep.
Excellent list! I was going to mention all of these, along with Daniel, for one, as suggestions for reaction videos.
Elton wrote a Broadway show called Aida. The star of that show, Heather Headley, won a Tony award for her performance. When Elton won the Kennedy Center Honor, Heather sang Your Song in tribute to him. It's a stunning version and Elton was very moved. If you want, you should definitely do a reaction to her version. It's worth it.
"Sacrifice" is one of the most beautiful songs by Elton John. Have alisten. Cheers.
Dearest Amber, You hit the nail on the head when you said you don't hear any love songs anymore. With what jokingly passes for music with its dirty lyrics what else would you expect? I'm an old geezer and this is my music. I can't imagine a wedding taking place today and the brides first dance is a "song" from Snoop Dog or JZ, it ain't happening. To paraphrase another wonderful reactor...Keep good music alive. Peace ✌️
How much more wonderful life has been for the rest of us for more than 50 years thanks to the musical genius of Elton John, and it started with this song, 'Your Song,' back in '71.
He's had countless great songs but I'd suggest, Amber, you would love hearing either his dedication to Marilyn Monroe, 'Candle in the Wind,' or his tribute to Princess Di, ' Goodbye England's Rose.' Same tune, different lyrics.
You can't go wrong hearing songs by Elton John, Neil Diamond, Roy Orbison, Cat Stevens.. thanks so much for your excellent and heartfelt reactions!.
You HAVE to hear his duet with George Michael on "Don't let the sun go down on me". It's a live performance and it is epic.
Hey Jay and Amber!!! This was Elton's first released single off his first record. And he's first hit.
this is his best. and you hear and feel every word and because it is written to "you", written and performed that way, and melody reaches into your heart...
Yay! You guys are finally reacting to Elton and Bernie's break out hit! 💗 Such a beautiful song and a beautiful reaction.. much love! 😊
Hard to choose, but after so many years, I do believe this remains my all time favorite by Elton John. So simple, elegant, so heartfelt.
3rd largest recording artist of all time (Behind Elvis & Beatles) a true icon! Has had hits in 70s, 80s, 90s, 00s, 10s,and 20s.... 6 decades, also a record!
One of his first and finest tunes ….. loved him for decades and all his tracks are amazing ….
You know it’s a pretty old song when Elton says: “ I don’t have much money”. This is one of if not the first song that made him famous. Also top 10 most beautiful songs ever made
whenever you hear elton, it's important to remember that bernie taupin wrote all of his songs. one of the top 3 greatest songwriters of all time, any era. this early 70's era is elton at his best, you guys should dive into it, here's a start - levon, - madman across the water, - spanish harlem, - i've seen that movie too, - harmony, - daniel, -indian sunset, - tiny dancer, just to name a few.
Bernie Taupin wrote the lyrics. Elton the melodies
Bernie Taupin wrote all the words........but Elton wrote all the music which is a full half of the writing......the need each other otherwise no great songs
I saw him 5 times,, incredible every time,, especially when he used to change outfits. He would play for 3 1/2 to 4 hours 💯✌️✌️
I saw Elton John in concert at Lincoln Theatre Royal, UK, circa 1974. The billing was Emerson Lake and Palmer supported by Elton John.
Elton's first US hit and after 50 years you can still fell the Love.
If you want to see Elton's playing at its finest (IMO), check out "Madman Across The Water" live 1971. So much sound from just 3 guys. Piano, bass & drums. Awesome performance.
Absolutely! That performance is incredible! 👏
One of the best albums ever. I saw him at the Greek Theater in L..A. just before "Madman" came out. He did the whole album as an encore. Unbelievable!
My favorite album .
Yeah,it's super cool!
Sir Elton who is the biggest Queen of England! This song is awesome! There isn’t a weak song in his catalogue!
My favorite Elton John song! Thank y’all so much!
Elton is absolutely one of my musical heroes.
I've had the pleasure of seeing him live many times. Guys, if you ever get the chance to see him in concert......do it!
Great song by an absolute legend 💕
I'm so thrilled you love this song...Elton's first hit 1970. This "unplugged" version is the best IMO. Just a piano and Elton's heartfelt emotion in his voice speaks right to my soul.
I might be wrong but I believe this is the song that got people's attention and sent Elton on his path to stardom .
To see Amber’s reaction to How wonderful life is while your in the world - is priceless.
I feel like this song has been in the background of my life as long as I can remember - to the point I maybe lost touch with how powerful it is. Thank you for reminding me.
My three song recommendations are “Someone saved my life tonight”, “Mona Lisa’s and Mad Haters” and “Circle of Life” for future listening and I recommend you pick the CZcams videos that are Live from Ephesus Amphitheater in Turkey in 2001. These are Elton’s solo piano versions of those songs and they are wonderful!
"Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters" doesn't get enough love. One my very fave Elton songs.
I've always felt that this song was meant for every single person. That we could ALL say it was OUR song.
My wife and I saw him live in 2014. This was his encore. What a show!
Other great Elton songs you guys need to react to are "Levon", "Someone Saved My Life Tonight", and "Mona Lisa And Mad Hatters"
ESPECIALLY Levon..
I will second(or third?) Levon... It's my absolute favorite Elton song.
Most of Elton John’s lyrics are written by Bernie Taupin. He would write the lyrics and send them to Elton who would put them to music. They have been writing partners for years.
Not sure why nobody replied to this info you posted, but it's VERY significant. Look at Amber's reaction to his words!
I don't know if you have seen the movie "Rocketman" but it shows how this song came about. Awesome movie about Elton and how he got his start😍🤩
Words as usual by Bernie Taupin, music by Elton John. Elton is great at singing Bernie’s lyrics and makes it seem they are his. That’s what great singers do. Elton always gives credit to Bernie.
Rumour has it that at one point during the 1970s Elton John’s record sales accounted for 2% of all records sold worldwide.
He was HUGE
His first single. I remember exactly where I was and the moment I first heard it. I knew my life was changed. It’s still my one of my top three songs (all Elton.)
