    :Exploring Abandoned Anything can be dangerous or Deadly without experience. I don't encourage anyone to enter any Abandoned structure. Not only is safety a concern, but often times its illegal and when possible, i seek out permission from the owner or local police. I simply go to document its history before it's gone forever and leave things the way I find them. I only take pictures and only leave footprints. I assume all the risks & responsibility before doing this. Please don't attempt to do this on your own. Their could be nails, Asbestos, Falling concrete soft floors, animals or other hazards. Yeah, steam radiators give a room a nice warm atmosphere - we had them in school, and i used to visit a girlfriends mother's place for Xmas and loved the ticking steam radiator under the frosty window on a cold winter morning

    Most of the buildings look structurally sound, maybe it would be a great place to fix back up, depends a lot on how much mold is in the walls and wood, and it looks like Post 10 was right about the piles of dirt being contaminated with something, looks to be right at an acre and it's on a heavily traveled road so someone will probably make it into a mini Mall or something like that

  • @brianleeper5737

    There is not $40 worth of copper in a microwave oven transformer. A working used complete microwave is probably worth $40.

    It is always a sad case when these type of developments fall on hard times as they serve an important purpose for the people. It is a pity that the administrators, or whoever it is who takes over these concerns when they go into administration does not look after them and keep them going as going concerns. How can it be beneficial to anybody for them to be allowed to get into these conditions. If they were looked after they could be sold as viable businesses and it would mean that those that live there would not have the major disruption of having to find somewhere else to stay. Thanks again for this fascinating presentation.

    Those old tiles remind me of my grandparent's house built in the 50's. I stayed a weekend in Arkansas (a little town near Branson, MO) and the bathrooms were tiled like that with the matching colored tub and sink.

    It is sad how easy it would be to solve or at least ameliorate the homeless problem - the cost of which is far greater than a basic restoration to minimum code and security of tenure for those in need. How can they get a job when they have no fixed address? And how can they get a rental with no job? It is no wonder that the situation is described as a trap - it is.

    • @Hooga89
      @Hooga89 Před 2 lety +8

      The reason the homeless get no help is because powerful and wealthy people like to be reminded from time to time how much better they are than everyone else by looking at the misery that exists outside their zipcode.

    • @MuddyPigg
      @MuddyPigg Před 2 lety +2

      I read somewhere that there's almost twice the amount of houses than homeless people. The big problem is there's plenty of houses but no one wants to where they are. Like Detroit, Philadelphia and other big cities but the empty places are in horrible areas with no jobs and high crime.

    I have steam radiators. The key to getting them to warm up right is using good air vents on them. Not the cheap ones you get at the big box stores. I use Gorton's and think they are the best.

    Having worked at several hotels/motels and stayed in a few more, I agree that was a really nice bathroom for the kind of place this seems to have been. It's a lot more spacious than I'd have expected and the sanitized, industrial aesthetic would be very easy to clean and maintain.

    What a shame that these places get left to rot. Fair enough that businesses change and buildings need to evolve their use too.
    Glad you’re keeping safe and announcing your presence to possible occupiers to reduce risk of startling or causing a problem. Would be good if such places could be sorted out as shelters for the homeless to keep them safe and dry especially as winter approaches.
