Get that grill fired up!
They were yummy!
Yes it was!
Looking good my friend. Just bought that smoker and I’m rolling with your recipe for my first round of ribs..!
Awesome! I hope you enjoy the smoker and the ribs! Thank you for trying the recipe. If you have any questions I’m here to help.
Love Ribs! Got some baby backs on the pit boss right now, and doing your smoked Mac and cheese later for the cookout! Although I’m using the 3,2,1 method for the ribs, I’m trying this way next time! Much love family, and thanks for the recipes!
Thank you so much for trying the recipe! And yes i love some ribs 3,2,1, low n slow, hot and fast just give me some delicious ribs lol! Have a great day smokin and Grillin!
New fan!!!!
Thank you! Welcome to the Fam!!! I normally release and premiere every Sunday @2p est.
Nice job
Thanks bro!!! How do you like the new pitboss onyx lineup?
Was looking at getting this smoker was worried about the size. But I think you convinced me
It’s not the biggest but it still can deliver unless you do a lot of big cookouts or smoking. I love it!
Christmas in July fam you weren’t playing , that rack looked 🔥🔥🔥
Thanks bro!
Everytime he says "Bad boys" , take a drink!
After you sauced and put back on the smoker for the remainder of the cook time, how long was that time or to what internal temp?
After The initial sauce 1.5 wrapped. But finished product if you get it around 200⁰ you in the game.
DAWG I thought you was using real wood to smoke DEM Ribs look good
Thank you fam!!!
My pitboss wouldn’t hold heat but once I added my ribs it’s held like a dime.
Have you tried sealing it with gaskets?
I just bought my first Lexington grill and assembled it. Do you have a video for the first burn off and first cook procedure? I've seen several other videos on this but they were not consistent and conflicting. I just want to do it right.
Unfortunately i didnt get the first initial burn off recorded as a video. I set the grill on the high setting and let it run for 30 mins to burn off the oil. Once you have done that you are good to do anything. I hope this helps!
Yes it does, thank you.
You are welcome!
@@CookingwithManualFocus, OMG…these ribs are smelling so good! Thank you for your advice and guidance. It’s just me and the wifey so this grill is perfect for us. I wish I could upload you a picture instead of a video.
That is awesome and you are welcome! If you have Instagram you could tag me there @cookingwithmanualfocus. I also have a page on Facebook too. Thank you so much for trying the recipe!
How much do you open the cover over the heat shield for smoking these?
The heat shiel i keep that closed durimg the smoking process.
So i need to do four racks of babybacks for a event. Can i do them all at once …..Any thoughts or advice ?
Yes you can do four at onceif your grill/smoker has enough room. My advice would be to rotate them throughout the cook so they cook even and come out around the same time.
Delicious. What is the total cooking time? Temperature is the same all the time? Thanks!
So that's a tricky question so.....these racks took about 6hrs to smoke. However sometimes depending on different factors like size, outside conditions, and if you hit a stall this may have an affect on your cooking times. So far as temp that is a guide but what you are really shooting for is tenderness. So around 190-195 degrees start probing for tenderness. If they are tender its time to pull them. If you leave them on too long you will overcook them and they will be more like pulled pork. Hopefully that helps!
Instant follow!! I've been looking at getting a smoker to start out on and the 540 pit boss is the right price range for me! This is exactly what I want it for as well! How has it held up?
It has held up really well. I have had it for two years and I'm still producing content around it. For me it was the price and seeing whether I would like smoking or not. And to make a long story short I love having it!
@@CookingwithManualFocus heck yeah! I just watched your pulled pork video. I've been making fantastic pulled pork in a slow cooker and can't wait to kick it up a notch!! I'll probably binge your channel for the next few days 🤣.
Hey I appreciate that!!!
I’ve seen people talking about a water pan when smoking? Did you use one by chance?
@jimmylayne6689 i did not use one in this session but have used one while smoking a brisket. Its a good way to get moisture in the chamber and elimnates the need for spritz but may impact your bark on your meats.
Looks delicious. How many pounds of pellets does a cook like this take?
Maybe half a hoppers worth. Mine would have been about 2lbs
Man those looked good, what was your spritz? Also did you just spritz them the one time after 45 minutes
Thanks Fam!! My spritz was apple cider vinegar and water 50/50 and I through the process until I hit them with the first “mop sauce”.
Just bought this pellet grill this weekend. Have you experienced any backburn with this grill? After I did the burn off, the back burn started happening when I had the temp at 250. Hoping I didn't get a lemon. Any info or tips is much appreciated!
Hello Julian! I have not experienced the back burn on my Lexington. If you don't mind me asking what pellets are you using? Are are they solid or have some give to them (probably moisture exposure) Did you see any ash in the ash pot or more like crud?
@@CookingwithManualFocus Thanks for the reply! I bought a bag of Pitboss Hickory pellets, I didn't empty the entire bag in to be safe. Pellets felt dry when I was removing them from the hopper when the smoke started coming up through the auger. I did the burn off for an hour not sure if that would create a ton of ash to cause a back burn? Maybe I dropped the heat too much from 400 to 250 to cause it? Love watching your videos BTW!
Yes that could have been the issue dropping from the high temp. To be on the safe side do a clean out and start it up. When it ignites bring it to 250 and leave the lid open for about 10 mins. Then close it and see if it operates as normal. Thanks so much for being part of the family!
@@CookingwithManualFocus Thank you!
Is your pellet hopper full! The hopper is gravity fed. If it gets too low it will cause pellets to not feed properly and will back burn to the pellet hopper.
If doing 2 racks...does it change the cooking time or process? I've found that 2-2-1 works better for me.
I noticed the back rack of ribs cooks quicker than the front since the exhaust is positioned at the rear of the grill and the grill is hotter in the rear. But the cooking process wouldn’t alter.
@@CookingwithManualFocus Is there a need to rotate the racks? Or just keep a closer eye on the rack in the rear?
I would rotate them so they are done closer to each other.
@@CookingwithManualFocus I'm sorry for all the questions... I'm new at smoking! How often do you think they need to be rotated?
No need to apologize I’m definitely here to help! I would rotate them half way through the smoking session.
Just came across your channel and i enjoyed it. Im new to grilling im doing baby back ribs and spare ribs. I already did my rub is there anything special i need to do far as grilling my ribs? And getting my grill ready? Im also doing chicken drumsticks and boneless chicken thighs
Welcome the the #FocusFam🧐! How do you plan to grill them? Low n slow @250⁰-275⁰ or hot and fast @300⁰?
@@CookingwithManualFocus maybe 2-3 hour's i want to make sure they come out good and moist. How long do i cook my chicken?
All depends. Really the temperature that you are cooking @ and you want to make sure your internal for your chicken is @165 before pulling them. Are you using a charcoal/gas grill or pellet grill?
@@CookingwithManualFocus charcoal grill
If you are running a gas or charcoal at a higher temp lets say above 350 grilling I would say 25-30mins. On the chicken. I would consider wrapping the ribs if you are doing them in 2-3hrs.

Did you smoke them for 2hrs in the paper?
First 2hrs smoked uncovered then wrapped for the rest of the cook
Every BBQ guy on CZcams always talk about "These Bad Boys", maybe they should talk to their wife about their little secret, they woud feel a lot better.
Is this a smoker or grill
Its a smoker but it can grill and sear.
It's a smoker
Yes
