She sang background for Luther Vandross. Also check out Minnie Ripperton. She's the first singer to sing at that octave n higher. Minnie could hit bird notes. Phyllis Hyman, is another underrated sister. Stephanie Mills, is another. THEY didnt even need music, just their voices.
Totally. She's my number 1 personally. I saw her perform live in 2017 and she was just unreal. I've never heard anyone so enigmatic and dynamic who can control their voice so well. I adore Lisa Fischer. This jam takes me back to my glory days. Her singing skills are sick and yet so underrated. I love to pretend I can belt this song along with her. She is fantastic and yes, still fione. This was thoroughly enjoyable to watch because I had never seen this live performance and she hit every note just the same. In and out, in and out you go... One of the best records of all time.
Legendary Lisa released only one solo album...and won a Grammy for it! She's remained active as the top background singer in the biz, and she's happy there. I really wish she'd bless us with one more solo project though.
I think this was the first time in Grammy history, where she was awarded a Grammy along side Patty Labelle, if I am not mistaken.

Thank you. I've tried many times to get reactors to react to Lisa, mostly to no avail. Lisa IMHO is the most underrated and under appreciated singers of her era. A singer who is on par with Whitney or Mariah. She sang background for many people including Chaka Khan, the Rolling Stones, Sting, Tina Turner, and many more. Mostly though she sang background for Luther Vandross for 25 years. The film "20 Feet From Stardom" featured her and how she really never wanted the spotlight and preferred working in the background. Ms. Badass and Beautiful is not only a great singer but a consummate performer. Lisa is still alive and working in and around my native Brooklyn, she can still hit that F6, and she's as beautiful today as ever.

Lisa basically ditched the “Cover Girl” look and went straight to all natural, goddess-mother. With that, she has expanded her singing style even more now that she does her own thing with her band- Grand Baton. They’re a fusion of Caribbean psychedelic soul, folk, and jazzy progressive rock.
I saw her twice in 2019. She does no wrong. She will cover every song of every genre. She often mixes styles in the same song, sometimes in the same phrase. When I saw her, she was in the middle of rock belting and went straight to pure head voice phrasing in a second.
