Hey mate. I realize that the AI boxes are always going to have a delay for phone calls when using CarPlay due to the Wi-Fi specs. But do any of the AI boxes have minimal/no delay when using BT when in the basic android system? If have an applepie 2 and the delay is terrible when using BT phone. Happy to upgrade to a better AI box. Don’t mind spending big $$ but want to be able to make no delay calls. Thanks! Love your videos.

You only need data for the Android apps to work on this adapter. CZcams, Netflix, CZcams music and Spotify all need internet to download their content unless you saved any content locally. You don’t need data for wireless CP/AA but you will again for live nav data or content in the apps you use on the platform.
Is there an app update app on this adapter? The Play2Video Pro has it but I can’t remember if the original had one. Usually you’ll need to access the factory mode and from there you can load the app update onto a USB or TF card that you insert into the adapter and it will detect this and allow you to update the app from the factory menu.
If there is a factory area that requires a code, in there, there is a way to replace apps with newer downloaded apk app files from an inserted TF card or USB stick, whichever is available on the adapter. I can’t remember the code for this off the top of my head unless I mention it in the video. Download the update from apkmirror. Matching the same version as what’s on Google Play store.
Say you are driving and your phones connected and then you get out of the car for 20mins if I get back into the car will my phone automatically connect without doing anything or touching my phone?

I assume your car has wired CarPlay? Using the correct usb port for CarPlay? Try a different cable. Try it in a different CarPlay vehicle. If all these still don’t make it work it is either compatibility issue or you received a broken unit.
Hello, what do you connect it to for testing purposes? How are you able to conenct it to Carpuride screen? Which model is it? I am looking for something to test these adapters at home without connecting them to the car everytime.
I am using the Carpuride W901 Pro. And a custom demo pod with an installed Pioneer 93DAB aftermarket receiver. Some ai boxes do not work with the carpuride.
What happens if you have you spotify playing and navigation, turn off the car. Then come back later and turn on the car, does it resume music automatically? or does it bring you again in the home menu of the Ottocast?
If it’s CarPlay it should resume how you left it. Navigation apps vary so it’s 50/50 if will continue. If your already reached your destination then it will like not resume. If midway through there should be an option to resume
If you want to watch youtube, netflix, yes. But if you dont have hotspot then you can just connect it as bluetooth and use google maps and listen to audio only such as youtube music, spotify but no video watching. For video watching you need to connect it to any wifi network or your phone hotspot. As I have noticed on mine.

Most now come with both CarPlay and android auto support through the same app, be it Zlink, Multiplay, autokit and Speedplay. All are pretty much the same really. So right now I don’t know if any that limit to just CarPlay. I doubt you’ll see any new ones that would do that TBH. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻

The U2-X Pro isn’t an AI Box like this Play2Video so it won’t do youtube or Netflix. To switch to android double tap the bottom left icon a few times. It will reboot into android auto mode.

Both will only work with a CarPlay system, but it will allow android auto on it. Both are similar but play2video is more complex and will only do video streaming out of the two

As long as they have paired before. It will auto boot into what it last connected to and is available. If that was android auto then it will boot and pair with that android automatically. You can not run both simultaneously from the same adapter though.
No expect much the same with faster multitasking maybe a little faster to boot/pair. Android 12 won’t over much other than app compatibility and a different looking pull-down menu/settings.
I've had very mixed experience, serious Google Maps latency and GPS searching issues on Android Auto connection. Netflix seemed ok. I'm really struggling to update firmware. Any videos on this which you could make would greatly help. The manual and online videos haven't helped yet. Thanks for the content
Try a different cable first. USB 3.1 Power and data cable. If that doesn’t work reach out to support for helps as you’re within your return window for a replacement.

You’re within your right to return but if it wasn’t through Amazon, distance selling and returns start to get a little foggy and difficult. There’s little I can do on my end. I’ve already told them recently they need to improve their support service. If you paid with a credit card you can try a charge back on the card for a faulty item that you want to return but at your expense most likely if you bought it direct off them. If possible, try it in a different wired CarPlay vehicle though. Just to rule that out. If you don’t see anything come up onscreen for carplay once it’s plugged in there’s something wrong with the adapter.
Please DON'T buy this item. Total waste of your money. The display resolution of your factory OEM CarPlay or Android Auto will be much less than the OEM. Also, the unit gets very high temperatures which is quite dangerous for having it in any glove box. Better stay away from the OTTOCAST company that does not follow their returns policy. They are just losers.

@@CarPlayLife It was used on a 2020 Mercedes GLC coupe. Very disappointed also the way these people treat their customers when requested to return my order. They have offered me $10 as a compensation to keep it or sell it myself to another person 😂😂
Their CS does have quite a reputation, sadly it is a negative one. I have experienced much the same with many other brands, so it's not exclusive to Ottocast. When it comes to returning an item to China it is almost an immediate non-starter, and I am sure some brands know this. $10 off is a laugh. Sorry that you've had a bad experience there.

How does this work with a car without touch screen? I only have a knob that turn and I press on the knob to select, along with another back button
As long as it has wired CarPlay still, these boxes usually work with dial/knob controls too. It’s just way more frustrating to use them that way.

Yes this should allow that. Also Ottocast u2-x, u2-x pro and CarlinKit 4.0 adapters are worth a look but these won’t do video.

Either should work. It can only connect to WiFi and there isn’t a SIM on this one.

This one would do that, but you have a number of other options for what is called 3in1 adapters (1. Carplay 2. AAuto 3. Android OS (locked). )

You need to test the gps to know if it lags…. I brought a quad lock wireless adapter and it lags about 3-4 seconds using Google map.
