  • This is the last recipe we prepared specially for Chinese New Year. We thought this Chicken Soup with Pears is an excellent dish to be added on your reunion dinner menu because of its cooling effects. I’m not sure about you but we’re definitely going to gobble down lotsa bak kwa, love letters, pineapple tarts and other heaty food so this soup can help balance things out a little (or so we hope 🤣)
    Refer to the ingredient list below or go to our website here spicenpans.com/... for your easy reference.
    We would like to give special thanks to La Gourmet for letting us try out their thermal wonder pot. It's really useful for busy peeps who still like to enjoy yummy home cooked food. If you like to buy them, you can go to any of the major department stores in Singapore such as Isetan, Robinsons, BHG, OG, Metro or Tangs.
    Hope you can recreate this yummy dish in the comfort of your home. Thanks for dropping by our channel.

    Hi! Thank you for your recipe. Yesterday I used your thermal cooker for the first time, boiled the herbs, then put in whole chicken for 15mins, then I put into thermal pot for 3h, the chicken was almost became dry. I noticed that you put in chicken first then started the fire and you said 7h in thermal pot. How do you measure 15min of boiling prior to putting in the thermal pot? Is it from cold water 15min, or from boiling then 15min? I don’t want the chicken to be dry

    A rather simple but tasty and healthy recipe.👍 Can I substitute the asian pear 🍐 with another compatible cooling fruit? Is farm chicken preferred?

      Hi Teeroo. If you’re using thermal pot to continue cooking, we would recommend that you cook the soup over the stove for about 10 - 20 mins after the soup has reached boiling point, you can turn the fire down a little and let it simmer for the length of time stated above. Then just before you remove the pot from the stove,turn the fire up to bring the soup to a rolling boil again then put the pot in the thermal pot. Hope this helps. Don’t open the pot until 7-8 hours later. The heat trapped in the thermal pot will do its magic for you

    Hi Roland, if the soup is cooked in a slow cooker, will the pear turned into mush ? 😅 Shd I put it in at the last hour or it doesn’t matter ? Thx.

    Nice Recipe! My mom had one of these thermal pot as well! Works like wonder! Just wondering, how hot was the sup after 7 hours in that La Gourmet thermal pot? By hot i mean can we drink is straight or need to cool down a little? Thx

    • @spicenpans
      @spicenpans  Před 6 lety

      Hihi. Thank you so much! The soup was still steaming hot but not pipping hot. There’s still steam from the soup but not hot until you need to ‘blow’ it to cool down before drinking. Hope this helps.

      Good morning from Singapore! Glad you found our videos useful 👍🏻 Honey dates are larger and sweeter than dried red dates. In Singapore, we can find them from Chinese medicinal halls. These dates are high in iron and also believed to have cooling properties.

      Spice N' Pans Thank you. Is the meat cut up and served or is it only for flavouring the soup? Thank you. PS I lived in Spore many years ago.

    • @spicenpans
      @spicenpans  Před 6 lety +1

      People from Canton usually don’t eat the meat that’s been used in soup but in Singapore, that’s the best part. Haha 😋

    Boiled chicken leg with pale soft skin and a piece of fruit? Not visually appealing here.
