you forgot about the TP discussion. Important piece of information there.
Fender has been killing it lately. Quality wise and feature wise and price wise. I picked up a player series jaguar bass and it's incredible. I love what they're doing.
Yosemite is in California, Yellowstone is contained mostly in Wyoming and has more things that want to eat you.
I'm pretty sure Yogi and Boo Boo lived in "Jellystone Park".. (a play on Yellowstone) :)
Yeah Yellowstone does spill over into Montana and Idaho a little bit I think
I live in Yosemite and you can be in Yellowstone in just 2 1/2 days of hard driving!
@@TheNickStuart do you ride a moped? It's a 12 and a half hour drive. Easy enough to do in one day of hard driving.
cars nguitars nah, that’s the difference between Googling it and actually driving it. When you google directions it will say 12.5 hrs and as soon as you are actually here and type in directions GPS will change to 17:48 minutes. Which; with 5 planned stops and driving 8hrs a day is a little over two days on my moped!
Lee, i watch this show for a few years now. All the lessons with Justin (and the practice) is really paying off. Always enjoying to see you play!!!!
I've never heard Rob so restrained. Maybe he's taken note of comments from viewers on many of these videos wishing that he wouldn't just shred all the time. I think he sounds much better when he lays back a bit, and plays more tastefully.
I think there's a difference in having fun and playing good. If you think in terms of any sport, when you're out there balling you'll do the same tricks over and over cause it's super fun and what draws you into it. But when you're on the field you focus and play smart and not just for fun.
Rob hardly shreds all the time, but every time he does, people act like that's all he does. There's any number of videos the past 8 years where he plays some wonderful, soulful music. The Egnater Tweaker and Orange Rocker 32 videos really stand out in the forefront of my memories and there are so many more.
Yogi bear was from Jellystone Park, a take on the name Yellowstone. Yosemite and Yellowstone park are nearly a 1000 miles apart, Yosemite is in California's Sierra Nevada mountains, Yellowstone is mainly in Wyoming but also in parts of Montana and Idaho
Neil Jackson Came here for guitars. Left with geographic knowledge of national parks.
I came here to make this comment, I’m glad someone else had. Thank you Neil for being as pedantic as I am.
There is a Jellystone Park in Louisiana. I almost freaked out when I found it.
They knew more than I would about their country though. I know they have warm beer and Ricky Gervais.
The strat the captain plays in the intro is probably one of the nicest looking strats I've seen! Also, great playing guys!
WOW! LEE! Your playing sounds absolutely great on this. Honestly beautiful. Nice one!
Honestly, this is one of the most entertaining channels on YT. Good job guys!!!
Rob and Chappers, what amazing players with amazing gear at their disposal. Love these videos!
Wow that jam at the beginning. The Cap has definitely gotten better, that was killer!
I absolutely love the 'Penny' finish on that Strat, but then again, I've always been fond of the various metallic finishes in that coppery/bronzy-ish area of colour.
I much prefer the "Performer" range, even though cheaper than "Professional, mainly because of the Jumbo frets.
I have 5 of these Performers and the neck profile is perfect for slightly smaller hands..the feel of the necks are priceless.
The Performer Telecaster with Humbucker(my one is aubergine/ purple)gives one some very gutsy Blues tones not even found on much more expensive Teles .
Love the colours on these new Highway 1/American Special/Performer guitars
Great playing by the duo in the beginning! Love that progression as well
Rob plays some really nice stuff when he's not shredding.
I prefer Danish Pete's playing, shredding is overrated. If you play so fast your notes are percussive, you miss the point. It turns a melodic instrument into a percussive instrument. In small doses it is ok but too much ruins it, the same goes for slap bass.
He’s got nothing on Lee from Dawson’s.......That dude can obviously play but it’s always so fast and rammed down your throat, gets distasteful quick.
Oh hush. It’s hard to shred and it’s impressive. Just because you can’t do it doesn’t make what you say worth hearing
Reverse headstock makes it harder to bend high e, b and g srings while giving them better tuning stability, and reversing that for lower strings. That would be hardly noticeable though and the only real reason to have reversed headstock is looks.
No, it makes it easier to bend the high e, b and g. The reverse headstock reduces the string length of those strings so there is less tension on the strings (shorter string means less tension, just like on shorter scale guitars...like Gibson). Exactly the reason why multiscale guitars are built the way they are. Longer string length on the thick strings for more tension so tighter bass (important for metal, high gain), and shorter string length on the higher strings to lower tension and making fast playing easier.
Great playing & tone throughout the video! Really enjoyed this one. I"m really digging the performer series, the Strat that Lee's playing in the first half of the vid is incredible. Now I'm keeping my fingers crossed so that Meteora sells OK for them so that maybe at some point they'll introduce a more affordable version of it - for example within the Performer lineup. That'd be sick :)
Hey Guys , great vid ! As always love your reviews ....
Being a true lover of Strats n’ Tele’s ( cutting boards with a neck lol ), the performer series are awesome special guitars.... Love ‘em
The main thing with “Yosemite” pickups , as such, are for lack of better words, tuned pickups or better said, voiced voiced pickups to that guitar maximizing its tone potential. Essentially the in the same way Tim Shaw did to the professional series starts.
It really does ring beautifully clean like a true 50’s Strat.
And the “Grease bucket “ tone circuit also allows you to roll back the volume without losing the gain structure, especially when you push the signal in front of the amp.
Thanks again fellas !
Captain Sir Captain & brother Chappers, Keep up the great work !
Enjoying to the fullest !

Good stuff guys
I love big '70s headstocks, it's cool to see Fender bring them back!
They’re my favourite. I much prefer them to the standard Stratocaster headstock. I can’t stand the telecaster headstock either.
I like them too, I think they look more "in balance" compared to the body. I prefer the 70's headstock but I think the normal headstock looks great too, it's just preference. I do think Fender should have a guitar line up with 70's headstocks (and not the Squiers) so I think it's a good thing!
I too love the 70’s headstock. When I see a standard headstock it just looks too small to me. I used to not care for the 70’s headstock but my tastes have changed.
Well captain only 30seconds in and didnt see you play 1 of your old licks, loved the last lesson with justin, you wouldnt believe how much I can relate to your lessons. Thank you so much for doing them. Congrats rob on the number 1, love the song
Thanks so much for posting this video! I just scooped one of these up in Lake Placid Blue SSS formation from a shop on the island (I'm on Vancouver Island) and this video was great to hear some examples up in advance.
Cheers and love from Canada!
I've been so impressed with Lee's playing lately
God I love the 70s strat large headstock
Holy moley! Penny is the name of that colour... I never thought I'd see new models with it. I have three mid-80s MiJ Strats... all identical, right down to the colour, which I now know to be 'penny'. Very cool... and I learn something every other week or so.
Lee's Strat is gorgeous. Penny with a maple fretboard, black scratch plate and white pickups. Sweet!!
Rob sounded amazing in the first jam
I thought they both did. Lee's playing is such a treat. I borrow so much of his slow blues style.
Almost picked up one of these I was so close until I saw the headstock so gawdy but love those pups
Totally loving the 10CC-esque lounge intro, even if your top E string had gone slightly flat, more of this please!!! x
Pete on every strat/tele video going forward, he showcases them the best!
Fender just makes great guitars. Simple, and effective.
My Strat HSS is being delivered from Andertons today!! This video has me absolutely buzzing for it \m/. Brilliant analysis guys, you's really bring to life the versatility each guitar has to offer, and the playing is beautiful! Got mine in AuBeRgInE lol
Ps. Who ever did the editing on this has me in stitches hahaha never give it up
Really loving Lee's soloing at the beginning of this video. Nice work guys :)
Tsk, tsk, Chappers. Yosemite Sam isn't one of Disney's, he's a Warner Bros. character.
No hate, just some cartoon clarification for you boys:
Yogi is NOT Disney , he’s Hanna Barbara
Hes at Jellystone, not Yellowstone or Yosemite.
Yosemite Sam is Warner Brothers.
Cheers!
Only two minutes in so far, but I just have to say LEE YOUR PLAYING IS FLIPPING TASTY. You're clearly taking Justin's wisdom on board. Lovely stuff, keep it up man!
I live in Corona California and went to the fender museum before it closed. It's pretty dope. Haha the day I get a custom shop I'll go in and talk to them.
Robs got his Clockwork Wolf hat on.
Chappers in a cappers
Isaac Llewellyn, I was trying so hard to think of a worthy pun regarding the hat.
These sound ace. Great amp and pedal set ups today guys, sweet tones!
Yo this jam in the beginning was really inspiring. Great job
I like these colours. It's just a shame you still have to go all the way to the Elite at a grand and a half for them to curve the neck heel a bit.
The deluxe series have the contoured neck heel too and two point term blocks, locking tuners.
Oxford the centre of England? Sheffield the centre of the UK? I think Santa Claus is bringing you boys a map for Xmas!
Derbyshire is the middle of england I'm not sure about the uk though, everyone always forgets about derby :(
Bought the honey burst a couple of months ago and I love it!
Beautiful opening jam guys, nice playng and tone from both of you.
THE 70's HEADSTOCK! GIMME GIMME GIMME!
Why do people start wearing those hats and playing with their fingers at the same time? Richie Kotzen did it too.
You guys are great! I really enjoy watching your videos.
Also a reverse headstock makes the high e-string shorter so I believe less force is required to pull it to pitch.
I never understood why the 'American Special' was cheaper than the 'American Standard'. Ruined my dating skills, too.
Took me awhile to get it, because special is suppose to be better than standard. Lol
@@itsfaiz2967 Yep, when I told them they were special, they felt cheap, when I told them they were standard (the real thing) I got slapped.
@@itsfaiz2967 luckily, they hadn't launched the professional series in those days yet ;-)
My wife: "Tchh! Are you watching guitar videos again...?"
Me: No... I'm.... I'm watching.....errmm.... porn. Yes porn..."
Wife: "Don't lie to me.....it's guitar videos, isn't it? Why can't you watch porn like normal blokes?
Me: "No, it was porn, honestly..... " etc, etc
Love the videos guys, been a fan for a few years now and one thing remains in every video..........Captain Lee’s “Man-Bulge” the close ups can be a bit much haha haha
I have the same Yosemite pickups in my 50's Classic Vibe Strat and I love them. But, a MIA Fender with a synthetic bone (read: "plastic") nut? My Squier CV has a bone nut and it cost $400.
Hey guys, could you answer something for me? Are you guys playing at an extremely low volume? The recording sounds to me like it was partially just picking up Rob's pick hitting the strings rather than the sound coming through the pickups. If that isn't the case, I do not like the pickups in Rob's guitar at all.
William Chamberlain I’ve actually been noticing this a lot recently with the newer videos. It’s been driving me nuts. I never want to hear the sound of the pick hitting the strings on a guitar/amp review. Maybe the editor isn’t cutting their mic volumes when they’re playing anymore.
Unlike the heathens in the comments, I absolutely LOVE the big headstocks!
I'm a folder here myself...anyway, they're beautiful and sound good under your fingers. I do love the options shown on the SSS with the knob pulling up thingy you did.
played one today. i like em. those pickups are killer.
Alright how many of you are about to say something about the hat
Testacabeza I don’t mind the hat I was just predicting what the comments would be I never said anything bad about it
Talking about the middle of the UK/England and the midlands are not even mentioned!
Dinger Bell Maybe because they’re not the middle of the UK which was what Lee was talking about (i.e. not England)! 🤷🏼♂️😋
I want an SS Tele in Penny so so so so so bad. Also liking the satin finished models too.
That glassy tone the Captain gets at around 1:07 what I dream of from a Strat. I don't think any other guitar gets that sounds so smooth.
All the guitars in this range are amazing looking. Except for the Jazzmaster, which has a sinful strat trem. Weird trem of joy or no trem at all!
if you don't like the classic jazzmaster trem, then yet fender sell you one, and if you like it they have other ranges to sell you one also.
I think it was about a month ago I watched this video and there was one lick that Rob played that blew my mind but I couldn't work out where it was from. It sounded a little like something from Toto Rosanna but when I listened through Rosanna I couldn't find the lick. Then today I listened to the new Clockwork Wolf & Co album (which is awesome) on apple music and found the lick on Part of the Plan. One of the best guitar tracks of this year! Great Work - also the best playing I have heard from the Captain! Strongly recommend you listen to the EP if you haven't already :)
I don’t need another slightly different strat or tele but the honey burst finish is sooooo beautiful.
Almost like the old Highway 1.
They should have kept the Highway 1 (nitro!). These are American Specials with 'new' pickups and colors. Fender just keep rehashing their line to keep it fresh.
Testacabeza I had a Highway One Tele and it was awful, I swear it was cursed cause it always had issues.
I have a 1st gen Hwy I Strat orig headstock. It's a great guitar. I actually sold my American Standard because of how much I enjoy the Hwy. I switched the pups to noisless. It's an awesome guitar. At least for me.
@@thechannelforeverything2170 Well I am sure you will find a cursed one in every line!
The tone of the guitars in the intro is beautiful.
Yay, ordered my sonic blue Performer Tele, today! Can't wait!
I hunt for food. It's more humane than meat factories and slaughterhouses. I love the pink one
I love the pink one too. I actually bought one...and I'm manly enough to be a vegetarian.
I love my American Special from like 2015. It plays like a dream and I don't feel like I need a Custom Shop one to sound good. My American Special is my favorite Strat I've ever had actually and I'm an "All American" Strat snob.
That first jam was something. I like the look of the pinky one too
HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT
I don't like the 70s style headstock :(
filnn I didn’t either until I bought a Malmsteen strat. Kinda grew to like it.
I think it's there on purpose to push people towards the more expensive American strats. They did the same thing with the highway strats (except the first year of them) which were their cheapest US strats 10 - 15 years ago.
mrbigg7255 I’ve got one too, I agree the headstock does grow on you. Didn’t used to like thick lacquer either. Much preferred the feel of a satin finish but again, you get used to it and suddenly it’s the satin neck that feels alien
I know you likely have no time to do it, but Id love to listen to an Andertons podcast and enjoy the random egg side conversations between Chappers and The Captain. Keep up the great work guys! Love the content.
Lee's guitar roller coaster rides cracked me up!! Thank you 👍🏻
It’s clever how they put the ugly headstock on in an effort to make you buy the more expensive models. I’ve seen them do it before too it’s very sneaky...
Not a fan of the huge headstocks !
I don't really like that either. It's kinda shame that also American Special range of Strats comes with 70's headstock. Really good guitars though...
Wouldn't ever buy a strat with a big headstock. The original was so right aesthetically that the big ones just look crap
That’s actually one of my criteria for a Strat. I prefer the 70s designs and this just does it for me.
Skywalker if you don’t like the big headstock then you have no culture
Finally arrived! SSS Performer Strat. I've tried Player Series, Player Plus, Vintera Series. Every of these unit had flaws. Even Vintera Modified, which is almost the same price as Performer was setup horribly in the store. Tuners were not in straight line, some screws were askew... Before I bought Performer, I've tried it in two different stores, both units were setup correctly, and finish was flawless. Today my Performer arrived. It was ready to play, looking incredible and sounding awesome.
I was hyped for Vintera after I heard MiMs are very good quality, but in my case it turned out otherwise. Cheers.
The Strat Lee's holding at the end...I used to hate anything that wasn't a "traditional" color on a Fender, like that one, especially with the black pickguard...but that one's growing on me. The more I see it the more I like it. The only thing I'd change if it were mine is the bridge pickup. I'd put a Little 59 in there.
The green Tele is nice as well.
I'd buy a strat today if it didn't have the horrible 70s headstock.
It might grow on you once you own one. That’s what happened to me when I bought a Mexican strat. with a 70’s headstock and now I prefer the 70’s headstock to the standard one.
@@seansullivan7131 I love that spaghetti writing on the player series too much tho
Big headstock strats are gross
Gents, Yellowstone is in Wyoming and Montana where old faithful geyser and buffalo are. Yosemite is in California where El Capitan and Half dome are. Both are beautiful (and worth a visit) but they are about 1000 miles apart.
From a fellow hat guy, I approve of your hat Chappers! Plus the all black look is killer. 🤘🏽
American up far too late (it’s currently 4 am): Yosemite is a geyser in Yellowstone National Park.
Yogi Bear lives in the (not real) Jellystone National Park
No: Yosemite is in northern California, Yellowstone is mostly in Wyoming.. I´ve been to both.
I don't think the English can enter the woodlands without getting their hands chopped off? Am I correct? If there were any woodlands remaining, I mean.
Yosemite Sam is near Merced California, south of Tahoe...Jellystone is up in Montana, Idaho, and Wyoming.
That was a really nice sounding jam in the beginning!
The only thing wrong is they should cost 500.$
As usual a great coverage and review. Can you guys please do a comparison of Performer vs Professional Strat (Rosewood) pleeaaaseee?
Wow! Lee's lessons with Justin are really paying off. I've never heard him play so well.
Shellac coating - so they mean rather than wax potting (or not potting ) the pickup they paint the outside of the coil with a lacquer, which protects the coil and minimises feedback due to vibration of any slightly loose outer windings.
Lee is such a good example for players who are in a rut at any age. I remember him not even playing in the early videos, just chappers. Then playing the same stuff for a lot of videos. But now after getting some lessons from Justin/Pete and practice, he's really stepped up his game. You may not realize Lee but you're a great example for us all.
And now 3 years later, Lee’s playing is beautiful. Straight up inspiring stuff.
@@SeanSullyy i agree!!
